As a owner of old school loomis lamiglas that are are almost as precious as my kids lol!!! i was really happy to see the new builds. My son got the New GSB it ran $485 .00 we went to work on San francisco stripers using hopkins , kastmasters, bucktails and it was indeed as advertised here. the strike set on the new GSB was in my opinion a Tad faster, A TAD more responsive, but really really close in performances. amazingly close $485.00 well spent as i know my son will get decades of use out of this rod.

Glad to see Lamiglas getting back into the game. Personally I feel the GSB's are the best surf blank around. Good job on the review surfcasters journal.

    Hi Lou,
Thanks for the great review. In the 2018 Lamiglas website the Old School 11’ finished rod is rated 3-7oz which is a MH power, but in your video you mention GSB132-1M, which is a 2-5oz rod. I really liked the recovery/performance of the new GSB rod you were test casting and want to buy the exact rod you were using here. Can you please let me know the model you are using in this video. Is it the 3-7oz MH or 2-5oz M?
I’m fishing 50% at the canal and rest of the time around cape cod beaches throwing 1-5oz (max). Thank you Sir for any info. Rob

Love my lami. I think the only thing it doesn't have is sensitivity. It casts well, take a beaten"dropped it on rocks rolled up in my car window stepped on it, thing doesn't die" I also puts a hurting on fish with it's parabolic action. Less stress on your back.

    I got a Question:
    I have two Lamiglas
    Ron Arra Surf Pro rods.
    XSRA 1321-2 11’
    2ps spinning
    12-20 1-3oz.
    XCRA 1322 11’
    1pc Casting
    15-30 1-5oz.
Do these rods have the same feel as the GSB rods?
And what do you think about the rods I have?

Bought a GSB 11 LS and a heavier GSB 11MS to fish striped and white Sea bass from the rocks and surf here in Monterrey CA. the lighter for striped bass and the heavier for White Seabass. I used to hook and either lose or break off with Daiwa rods. Tsunami airwaves break they suck!!!!!!!! lamiglas is worth every penny

Very nice review. Thanks for shared. A question: wish rod action are better for casting a light weight plugs like 1/2 to 1 1/2? Thanks.

Where do you plan on using the blank? Lamiglas also has other options such as a GSB 1081L that is 9' and would be good for those weight ratings. Although, it depends on where you want to use the rod and the application intended.

+David Price well, they talked about a one Rod to be good for all applications. My case is jetty and beach. Stripped and blue fish. Thanks.

For both those applications you would probably like the GSB 1201m. I beleive previous reports mentioned the old school GSB blanks would be in production by fall? Before buying try to contact a builder or someone that has the completed rod for you to try out. This blank mentioned above would work well.

Why don’t you put the camera to show where the cast landed in the water. Perhaps use a drone.
