I was there and it was amazing, one of the best performances they've done. Some things you never forget, they stay with you, this night was one of those, incredible night, so glad they filmed it
I've been into metal all of my 50+ life. Started with Whitesnake then Judas Priest. Iron Maiden next followed by Motorhead Metallica, Megadeth Slayer, Infernal Majesty etc. I'm not a goth and don't like any other goth bands but The Fields of The Nephilim are my number one band. Their music is absolutely mesmerising
That makes you a pretty unique individual, i have to say. I had a 2 year metal phase at 18 and 19 (1992/93) and i never really understood it...i hated it before and i couldn't listen to it afterwards...but Fields i loved before that time and i can still listen to them today and i 100% know why i loved them so much when i was 16.
They definitely had been influenced by Lemmy and Motorhead too, the track Phobia from the second album leans on the Ace of Spades riff ... i saw this bad at reading festival in 1988 and remember a cloudy afternoon and swirling atmospherics for Last Exit, it was the most intense experience of my young life til that point.Peace x
I’m 71 and still love this band ! I discovered TSOM in 1983 when l was 33 years old. The first goth bands l listened to were Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths, and Bauhaus.
At the Gates of Silent Memory. Love of my life,God grant the years Confirm the chrism - rose to rood! Anointing loves, asperging tears In sanctifying solitude! That holds my heaven and holds my hell. Yes,today Life that I knew So sick of all the people A blind moon Over to the window Where the night has become Elizium for the sleepless souls And our days to come You stand Stand with Dalila Maybe I'll just pass-away Or may be I'll stay But I feel alive with you And I feel some kind of heaven When I feel deep inside her And I feel some kind of heaven Hear me Give me some kind of heaven Such lights she gives as guide my barque; That holds my heaven and holds my hell. Love of my life Man is so infinitely small Man is so infinitely great!
I learnt English to understand the lyrics of my favourite bands, and the lyrics of the Elizium album was the first and maybe the only one ever, I was able to write down from heart..... So beautiful
As night hath stars, more rare than ships In ocean, faint from pole to pole, So all the wonder of her lips Hints her innavigable soul. Such lights she gives as guide my bark; But I am swallowed in the swell Of her heart's ocean, sagely dark, That holds my heaven and holds my hell. In her I live, a mote minute Dancing a moment in the sun: In her I die, a sterile shoot Of nightshade in oblivion. In her my elf dissolves, a grain Of salt cast careless in the sea; My passion purifies my pain To peace past personality. Love of my life, God grant the years Confirm the chrism - rose to rood! Anointing loves, asperging tears In sanctifying solitude! Man is so infinitely small In all these stars, determinate. Maker and moulder of them all, Man is so infinitely great! At Sea by Aleister Crowley
Beautiful music that taps into your very being and even better and more affecting if you get the complete dvd and listen to it in the context of the whole momentous performance.
I wish Tool sounded this good I remember with the album playing, random party goer took off the needle round the 7:33 mark, we were all in the room like a beethoven concert, she got booed
ach, war das gute musik damals... und auch heute noch... witzig find ich das publikum... hat jetzt new model army bei den fields abgekupfert oder umgekehrt...? jedenfalls haben beide besten musikgeschmack...^^

oh my you're so lucky ! They barely play this one live.
Oh, it's amazing! Envy a little, 1990? I was born that year 🙈

Finest Bombast-Rock
Gothic rock in its most pure form.
Bands today are still following on from this band (though some of them think they are being original).
i wish they would try it... but the music today is only mainstream and for to earn as much money as possible...
I wish Tool sounded this good

Das mit den wedelnden Armen hat man "damals" so gemacht. War bei The Mission und den Sisters in den 80ern nicht anders.
@@olearntz wirst du auch heute noch finden bei Leuten, die voll im Moment sind.
Seen them live many times in the 80s 90's and 00's.
A pale imitation without the original band. But what sweet music they made!
I agree! I hate seeing bands years later
and there is only 1 or 2 original members left.
