I'm from South Africa. There are many German people here. My son went to a German school called Luneburg. He is fluent in German and my German is basic. The village were we lived, the white people are predominantly German. We have moved to a city now and I don't hear German being spoken anymore. Even the Lutheran Church I go to here is English. I have subscribed to your channel so that I won't forget German and also to improve my skills in German. So I say "thank you so much".
I'm surprised these videos don't get more views. I've been watching for the past few years and I really enjoy this content. I find it to be one of the most entertaining and helpful in the German language learning genre. XD I recommend this channel to my friends pretty often, especially those who are already studying German. Anyway, you rock man! Keep doing what you do! Danke, und auffff Wiedersehen!
I got called out all the time for being American when I lived in Germany for saying "Entschuldigung" as a nicety at times when no one says it in Germany... like passing between someone and the product they're looking at on the store shelves. Old Midwestern American habits die hard 😂
you must have more subscribers. you are doing a lot for us who wants know about German. Thank you very much from deep heart. In shaa Allah i'll meet you one day if I came to German. But im inviting you to come to Bangladesh as a guest of my family. Thank you... ♥️ brother.
If Verzeihung is the equivalent of Pardon in English, I personally would use it almost every day. Switch back and forth between excuse me/pardon me if someone is in the way and need to get around them or if I didn't catch what they said I can say pardon/pardon me. I see you added Wie bitte towards the end for the latter expression and it's probably more appropriate if not more or less the same.
"Entschuldigung" was always explained as "excuse me" Es tut mir lied" was how we were always taught to say sorry, but most American curriculum's teach out dated German
I am sure you have heard this before, but due to the influx of German immigrants to my city of Cincinnati, "Wie, bitte?" has evolved into "Please?" It's a sure fire way to know if someone is from the greater Cincinnati area.
I wonder how many years it will take before I can hear the words "Es tut mir leid" without thinking of Pocahontas. (AnnenMayKantereit). Sometimes learning vocabulary from songs can backfire.
For me, verzeihung is easier to pronounce. My tongue twisted in saying entschuldigung 😂 -The only word I know is scheiße, so I may as well learn to apologize if I ever said that lol-
I just watched the Get Germanized video on words ending in -ich and ig, in which 'lustig' and other such words were said to be pronounced with a hard ending, almost like "-ick." It was said to be "sloppy" to end words like 'lustig' with the soft -ich sound. Yet here we hear the word 'aufrichtig' pronounced with a soft ending. So I am confused. Is there something about the word 'aufrichtig' that makes it an exception to the "hard ending" rule?

I always thought of entschuldigung as meaning 'excuse me'. Et tut mir Leid as like a normal apology. Learning something new!
I am really, really liking this series!
Danke Dominik für die vielfältige Umformulierungen!
That ''WAS?" moment made me laugh so bad, hahaha. Felt so relaxed straight away
Thank you so much for the new spin that you've put on this channel, I find these new videos EXTREMELY helpful. Please keep making them! Vielen dank!

Just curious if you ever watch “German girl in America” on TH-cam she’s very entertaining.
I love German Girl in America!
My A2 course starts this Monday. I'm readyyyyy.
But are you Regi?
Hey Dominik!!! Verzeihung (Pardon) is used in the south of the US like Texas, North and South Carolina,
Wow! A lot in this video. I like this series of videos. Exploring one specific concept at a time is very helpful. 😊
After opening this video, I got a German ad for the first time despite living in the Philippines lol
Achievement unlocked 😁🔓

5:01, i think i heard it in the Danish TV series 1864.... (2nd Schleswig war Deutsch-Dänischer Krieg)
Hallo , entschuldige kool
How about "Ich bereue" for expressing regrets?
Catherine Mangones yeah you can use that
..how to say sorry: Es ist nicht meine Schuld! HAHAA i laughed way too much at that
Negan is distracting me 😂
Every now and then I do use "Verzeihung". I wouldn't consider it to be too archaic
In Portuguese "was" is the usual. I once talked to my German teacher this way and she was really offended.
🎉🎉
How would I say “I’m sorry for delaying the album”

Ich hatte dass ich faktisch könnte spreche Deutsch gewünscht :(
POV: Someone says that to me
Me: I nicht give a shit
Negan ????
Ich entschuldige Mich aufrichlig
Horst du manchmal zu Xavier Naidoo? P.S. Ich habe keine deutsche Tastatur
Nein, ich höre eher Rock und Metal.
Entschuldige, daß ich atme…
😂
Verziehung - i hear a lot!
"Verzeihung" :)
Es tu dir weh? Does that work?
Not really unfortunately. 'Es tut mir weh' means more like 'It hurts'.
@@GetGermanized I meant Ich Tu Dir Weh.
es tut mir lied nien mien schwarm im valentinestag Sie mag mich nicht 💔😭😑
WASSSSSS????
🇩🇪
'If you don't include how to say 'sorry' in Arabic then you're not truly German.'
Oh bugger off 😂
@@GetGermanized Ich habe buchstäblich laut darüber gelacht. 🤣
Thanks! 😊
You're welcome! :D
