- I had the pleasure of having Josua Karlson visit me here again. After we literally lost ourselves in sound worlds for a few days, we managed to emerge from them in time and shape a few of the treasures we discovered into this piece.
In the first half, apart from a few field recordings from the Octatrack only Tempera plays.
In the second half the basis is one of Josuas beautiful pads from the Wavestate.

So the rumors were true. You are a magician on the Elektron devices. Glad I found your channel. Did you record samples of the Wavestate into Octatrak or Digitakt? What exactly is the Hapax sequencing? I just upgraded mine to the latest update. Really gets it closer to what I imagined it being. What would you recommend for melody, the Syntakt or Digitone. I saw your video on the Syntakt doing ambient and didn't realize the Syntakt was capable of that type of FM-synthesis.
Thanks.. and welcome!! The wavestate is also sequenced by hapax. The Digitakt takes care of the few drums and the Octatrack takes care of all the field recordings/background noise.
For melodic stuff I would definitely go with the Digitone (still my favorite synth). The Syntakt definitely shines more when it comes to drums... or simple monophonic analog sounds. It can do a lot of different things ... but at the expense of "depth" (which the Digitone offers).

Digitone does absolutely nothing 😊 .. there were already a lot of sounds .. Syntakt plays the 303like sound and the BPfilter rhythmical synth sound. Digitakt - drums
Was the wavestate program with midi because I just got done with the video and I didn't see him play it.. was it the big pad sound that washes over it?
Yes, Wavestate gets sequenced by Hapax and it’s the pad that comes in at 11:50:). The Wavestate goes through modular fx, that’s why I never had to touch the Synth itself in the whole video😅

It's a "new" and quite unique granular synth called Tempera ... a great playground for sound sculpting.
