I would think aiming spray away from chicken run slightly would still cool area down and they wouldnt get wet and wouldnt have to worry about getting food wet.?

Not a good idea. You're going to breed legionella for sure.😢 Its better to cool surrounding air and the top of the roof, but don't over do it or you'll grow mold and bacteria
