They achieved the goals where they promised 50 missions in the campaign and more than 100 systems on launch in the PU part. This if they raised 6.000.000. I think they are a bit above that budget now, but no game and one star System. Almost there.
A huge stage area where we're seeing some celebrities this year for sure, and a release date to get hyped for. Starcitizen will definitly get a backseat this time. CIG knows the biggest hype they can push this time is a release for SQ42 and celebs on stage.
I sure hope it isn't a lot of Squadron 42 stuff, not because I'm not hyped for SQ 42, I just want as little spoilers as possible. If they could show the same slice we've seen before updated, that could be cool, but still not too interesting. Last year was amazing and I think this year will be more hype if not even better, wish I was attending in person. And it's okay to be excited without throwing your wallet at CIG, I rolled my eyes at "I still need to buy the goodies pack". CIG marketing knows how to do their thing for the PU, hoping their marketing will be on point for SQ42 as well, not in a preorder bonus early access kind of way, but rather make people buy it for what it is.
I don't think we can draw any conclusions from the map not showing a demo area, there's every chance that even if there is a playable demo they'd leave it off the initial map to save spoilers. Either way wouldn't bother me (not that im.going to Citcon anyway), I almost guarantee we get a SQ42 release date at Citcon, but it would honestly still be quite early for a playable demo; most games don't even give a demo to reviewers until a few months before release. Also, having sponsors this year that just makes the price hike to £300 or so even worse!
No panel rooms it seems, unless panels are held offsite or outside of the main conference area. I liked the year that they did panel theme tracks but that was back when they fit it all in 1 day.

Everyone should take note that this map is not a map of the entire building. There's another couple of rooms that would be perfect for PC's that they are choosing not to show on this map. For a huge turnout like this, I'd be shocked if they weren't utilizing those rooms for something. I think they are intentionally holding off the SQ42 demo as a surprise and are keeping from showing those rooms to the public as of right now. Take a look at a map of the entire building and compare it to this one and I think many will agree. Still a likely chance attendees will be able to play a demo.
I do expect some good information around SQ42 and honestly at this point would be a bit disappointed if they did what they did last year with only a bit SQ42 at the very end. For SC Stuff however I really don't expect a not as last year was crazy because they showed us a lot of what they were working on over the last few years so this year it will probably be smaller since they only had an additional year of development. What I almost expect it that this year will again be a bit more concept focused since we are starting a new chapter in SC development with the 4.0 cycle (when they planned this event they were planning around 4.0 being basically done). Honestly I think that this year being more about intentions and less about feature showing could work with the place SC is at the moment where we don't know a lot about where they want to take development after 4.0 and potentially SQ42 being released in the not that distant future. As this is my first CitCon I would have liked a demo area (especially since it would probably be around Squadron and I am one of those who currently focuses more on SQ42 than the PU) but I also do understand that it is both hard to organize, time-consuming and not that fun for everybody who is not attending. Do you want to know why i am so certain of this.. because, the further into development of the PU/StarCitizen and SQ42, CIG have begun to quietly realise the scope is factually too great, relying on server meshing to somehow magically account for all the resource taxation the PU project scope is touting so proudly, yet they keep selling pixels called "ships" that they have legit dedicated 10 years to ship production, half these ships now no longer fit the design conceit they are aiming for now. The aim and goals of this project have changed so many times I actually do not recognise this now. it took 5 years for them to sort out what engine they would use, never stopping to see if the engine could even do what they wanted, fuck me the Cry engine is not the same engine that marveled and burned out dudes high tech computers from 2007, this is not the same world as back then. I'm a full-time manager of a team of 16 real people and I do not have time after my working day to sit down again, log onto SC then, and buckle up cos here we go! then to wake up, get dressed, wrestle with the stupid interaction menus just to get set up and equip then to the lift in my apartment, wait, press the button 3 times to see it say lift called, then hear the door open sound but no doors open, then press the button again and have the doors open, but with no sfx this time, then go to ground floor, sprint as fast and as far as i can until I get a heart rate of 150bpm, to almost make it to the transit system just in time to miss the doors and have to wait to 45 seconds more for another tram, then wait in that tram while it bugs out and does jack knife flips and shit, then wait for the doors to open, again sprint to through 3 -4 pointless set dressed useless security gates that are always open and have no function, to then run up to the asop and hope it works this time, to call up my ship, or now go into my huge hanger that's way to big and doesn't come with a small vehicle to get around in. just to have hanger bay sirens blaring at me and run the ship retrieval cycle with an extra redundant "state reset" goes for about a minute where the bays open, close empty, open close and then raise my ship, to then run across the huge hanger wrestle again with the terrible interaction system the devs just refuse to move on from, get the doors to my ship open, run jump, climb a slow ladder another set of poorly functional cockpit interactions and the slow hanger bay opening. then pre-flight checks. then lift off!! so I get about 10 mins into QT travel and just audibly sigh and alt+f4. I call it... Star Citizen...its not a game. :P

The aim and goals of this project have changed so many times I actually do not recognise this now. it took 5 years for them to sort out what engine they would use, never stopping to see if the engine could even do what they wanted, fuck me the Cry engine is not the same engine that marveled and burned out dudes high tech computers from 2007, this is not the same world as back then.
The idea has failed and cannot ever reach the dream. it is a dream. and it will never come true in the way you all want it. and I know this because non of you can even agree on what type of game you want this to be. and the evidence is in the flip flopping nature of the Devs primary, secondary and tertiary milestones. they switch up the classification of Star Citizen all the time. its not a sim, its not and MMO, its not a shooter, its not a racer its not a survival game. its nothing. its fluff made of your hopes and dreams.
The devs DO NOT play SC on any other devices other than the massively high end rigs they get working from CIG, they do not take the game home and try it at the home ISP connections. They never go out to the highest paying most dedicated guys home and sit with him for a day while he plays just to see what ACTUALLY happens. The Devs only watch the salty angry reaction videos and never just watch the long play guys and girls on YT and actually look at the game in function not just on their apps and loaders.
I'm actually amazed at how long this marketing scam has gone on for, Chris is THE LUCKIEST man on earth, why has anyone continued to support this project when its obvious when you sober up and sit back even a millimeter away, you see this for the charade it is. No Sq42 demo at CitCon means, without a shadow of a doubt, THERE IS NO GAME, on the horizon, or ever and I'm sorry to break this to you, but to have real time, perfect 30-60 frames per second in the online PU game-play with the graphics, physics computations, the way they claim it will be when its "Done"... no we would need quantum internet and pure lossless packet signal strength, we need the enormous amount of data to be managed and piped out correctly. even the goddamn item menu's and switch panels are server dependent! WHY?! that's so retarded.
It took 6 years to get a sort of working star map, the same bug that throws you into space if you try to exit your starter Aurora IS STILL THERE FROM 2015!!? like seriously what the actual fuck is going on?? And Jared fucken wiggle head Fuckabee needs to shut his mouth and stop trying so hard to be a cool middle aged gamer guy. its tired, we're all tired.
Final nail in this coffin: Tell me, if this a pre-alpha tester of ships, systems and all things that 'may' possibly one day juuuust maybe sorta kinda might end up being the older brother concept to the sorta semi final version of "Star Citizen" then how come CIG is still charging HUNDREDS of $$$ to 'test' their product. Star Citizen is not the focus of CIG, their focus is the tech behind server messing (which they will sell) not the game and gameplay. Look at the recent cargo where the lifts still don't work and they don't care

When CIG gives us a SQ42 release date, most likely at Citizencon, that will be the main hype for next year and it will sell at least 10 million copies. That means they are not dependent on the Backers for several years aka do what they want and jobs are safe.

@@TruthIsKey369 SQ42 isnt gonna sell 10 million copies. especially a PC only release. Hogwarts Legacy, the best selling game of 2023, sold 22 million copies over 1 year. A game from a very established IP made to appeal to the largest amount of people. It sold 8.5 million copies on PC. SQ42 is a niche game in comparison. but lets it sells as well as Hogwarts legacy 8.5 million people own it. Okay now take away the millions of people that already bought it over the years. In reality you are only looking at a couple million in sales in the base case. CIG knows this. I bet there will be a trailer at citizen for SQ42 with announcement that its going to consoles.

I don't have the time for an MMO nor the patience and I'm a full adult to play that much a game, give me squadron I'll play it enjoy it and move on, I got a lot of work to effing do ... sorry MMO junkies. I'll play the second squadron after some years but MMO's are ridiculous time consumers, and full of grinding and boring shit, I have work to bore the shit out of me already.
I know the feeling, but things change and when Starcitizen gets fleshed out you will certainly play it. Why play other shit games when Starcitizen will be the game to go to when the time comes. I have to little time myself, but as the gaming industry is now, in shambles, I'm waiting for this game to shape up and have fun, and that time is closing in.

I'm a full-time manager of a team of 16 real people and I do not have time after my working day to sit down again, log onto SC then, and buckle up cos here we go! then to wake up, get dressed, wrestle with the stupid interaction menus just to get set up and equip then to the lift in my apartment, wait, press the button 3 times to see it say lift called, then hear the door open sound but no doors open, then press the button again and have the doors open, but with no sfx this time, then go to ground floor, sprint as fast and as far as i can until I get a heart rate of 150bpm, to almost make it to the transit system just in time to miss the doors and have to wait to 45 seconds more for another tram, then wait in that tram while it bugs out and does jack knife flips and shit, then wait for the doors to open, again sprint to through 3 -4 pointless set dressed useless security gates that are always open and have no function, to then run up to the asop and hope it works this time, to call up my ship, or now go into my huge hanger that's way to big and doesn't come with a small vehicle to get around in. just to have hanger bay sirens blaring at me and run the ship retrieval cycle with an extra redundant "state reset" goes for about a minute where the bays open, close empty, open close and then raise my ship, to then run across the huge hanger wrestle again with the terrible interaction system the devs just refuse to move on from, get the doors to my ship open, run jump, climb a slow ladder another set of poorly functional cockpit interactions and the slow hanger bay opening. then pre-flight checks. then lift off!! so I get about 10 mins into QT travel and just audibly sigh and alt+f4. I call it... Star Citizen...its not a game. :P
