The Poet's Voice: Syed Muhammad Jafari - Rooyat-e Haraam Committee

Syed Muhammad Jafari (1905 - 1976) was one the masters of humorous and satirical Urdu poetry in the 20th century. His poetry is characterized by insightful satire, linguistic brilliance, and masterfully apt quotation of lines of poetry by Ghalib and Iqbal in his own poems.
This recording is from a mushaira held in Karachi in 1966 under the auspices of Bazm-e-Raees - a private association of the Minai family .
