I believe that Laurie Metcalf also won an Emmy for this episode. Norm Macdonald was a very talented comedy writer.

I always said it was the best soap opera on TV and people look at me like, what? Think about it. The progression of their lives, especially her 3 kids and Jackie, and the way things continued on in each episode. Like Becky & Mark, buying the Lunchbox, the relationship with her parents, the motorcycle shop, Rodbell's, Leon, Nancy, Darlene & David. Loved it all!
