Been so busy I’m behind on your videos!!! But Omg yes I agree with you and teller of small fortunes. Love the endpapers (especially since the back one you can see more of the crew) and love it’s actually signed and stamped by the author. But yeah fairyloot won out. Lmao at the headband. I did know how to use it but mistaken for when. I forgot ppl use it to wash face. Idc I’m still using for the cold lol. Oh forgot to mention love your nails! Such a prettty colour!!
My edition of The Teller of Small Fortunes from owlcrate also came with similarly messed up edges. Another unboxing I watched had perfect edges so it seems that it is not all the books that were sent out had this problem. Fortunate for those who got perfect ones and unfortunate for you and I and anyone else who got imperfect versions. 😔
Can you make a video of you ranking your subscription boxes. Like S tier, A tier, etc. I know they are not always consistent but I think it will be super intresting using consistency, art, picks, etc as a guide. I want to see which subscription box is worth it. Amazing videos ❤️
Comment #2 After getting the box and coming back to the video I was quite dissapointed with the desk mat. The design is cute, but it doesn't really scream LOTR to me. Imo, would be funnier if they put potatoes there instead of muschrooms - would be more on theme (but I understand the design in context of the book). The callendar was okay, but I probably won't keep it. The ornament was cute. The pin was who I hoped for and I'm so happy about it. I love the design and I love the pairing. The book looks so good. I'm happy to hear you liked it, it means I will enjoy it too. Somehow your camera shows the back endpaper's design much better than I'm able to see it in my copy lol.
Yeah I didn't even realize it was supposed to be LOTR... I always feel like the camera shows the end papers brighter than they are in person too. The front end papers were fine on mine, but the back ones were very dark.
@@kimberlyreads There was the ring and little Bag End doors, but I wouldn't guess it either if it wasn't mentioned in the theme announcement that there will be a LOTR item.
I just finished Teller of Small Fortunes and I really enjoyed it. I read it really quickly and you're right, it's a light read and the color of the front doesn't match well. And totally agree that the phoenix is such a minor part of the story! Those end pages do make up for the the dust jacket. If they were the cover of the book, it'd been a big win. I don't have a copy, so maybe if it ends up on OC's website, I might grab it, but it doesn't feel like a MUST buy from them.
Yes I was so confused about the Phoenix being such a huge design on the book when it was literally such a small part of the actual book. I would honestly skip this one unless you REALLY want it because it seems like most people's edges are out of line which stinks.
I think it is very ambitious to read all your new sub books and keep on top of your bag log but you are right i need to do the same. I will try to start reading my 2 fl and ill upon arrival
I like the design of FL romantasy. As for "the Courting of Bristol Keats" - I was thinking about ordering the "regualr" special edition (the one available on Amazon), but it also got translated to Polish pretty quickly (oversized hardcover with black and white edges [by oversized I mean- the regular size for you, but it's bigger than any other books I have in Polish]). So now I don't know. And I wonder if I will actually enjoy the story, because it's seems to be romantasy and it just feels like I don't enjoy romantasy that much :/ So I guess waiting for your opinion! "The Teller of Small Fortunes" is so so pretty! I missed the cheaper FL listings, and it's currently quite expensive so I just ordered the normal version... and now I'm thinking if I should get Owlcrate's version if I like the book. It's sad your version doesn't have centred edges. The art on the reverse dust jacket is interesting, but doesn't really feel that special? The hardcover itself is okay. Ooh the blanket is so cool. Did I hear the designer's name correct? It's the same person who designed the book covers? (I love her art). Love the bookmarks as well. The reverse of "A language of dragons" is really nice. My YA Owlcrate is stuck with customs since before Christmas (I decided to subscribe to the book+items!), so I will be skipping that part of the video (sorry), but I will come back to see your thoughts on the items as soon as I get mine. I'm very tempted to look up what the pin is - I know it's the Raven Boys series, but I'm wondering which pairing (kinda hoping it's the two boys [ not saying who I mean in case it's not, because you didn't finish the series yet])
I would definitely wait on The Courting of Bristol Keats because I've heard a lot of mediocre things about it. I haven't gotten to that one yet though so I don't have any opinions yet. The Owlcrate version of The Teller of Small Fortunes is definitely not as representative of the story compared to Fairyloot so I'd just wait for that one and the price should come down in the next month or so when more people list it. Customs is so frustrating! I'm always happy that I don't have to really deal with it, but it's terrible your stuff is always getting stuck. That would give me so much anxiety.
I liked Owlcrates YA book but the artwork on the front and especially on the back looked fuzzy? As if it wasn't formatted well to be blown up so the image just came out very blurred and it being a darker scene didn't help. I like watercolor types of art but that just wasn't fitted well for the size of the book. Kind of disappointing but if they didn't have the time to fix it before it was printed I guess I can understand just going with it. It is rarely looked at so it's not a huge focus of the book itself. The silver foiling around the edges was really cool though. I skipped the next Evernight book because I wasn't interested in it. I sold the eyeball one because it grossed me out. I'm tempted to cancel but I will just see what will be coming and skip for a bit if I don't like it. Honestly, the one book I really loved was the Invocations and I didn't have the subscription then (I was on a wait list). Since then I haven't been super impressed with their book choices. I think I will be canceling my Moonlight Book box subscription because I haven't been thrilled with their book choices either.
I didn't think they were blurry, they just looked part of like the aesthetic of that type of art, but I do think the back artwork was really dark and needed to be a bit lighter to really see it.
I think you have to like the art work with these and I just don't, it reminds me of Litjoy and I find it tack and over priced. I'm sure some of the books are good, but I only read 4 or 5 books a month and I have a couple of years worth of TBR so such subscriptions would be waste for me. I just finished Nineth House and and ordered the next in the series, while I wait for it to be delivered I am reading Palestine Speaks: Naratives of Life under Occupation and Jailbreaking the Goddess, but my taste is all over the place.
FL language of dragons is so bad for me…. It just didn’t land. They’d have done better just doing a whole new design not with the purple / yellow trying to imitate Hurricane Wars.

Great unboxings. Hopefully you enjoy the books as well. 📚☕

@@kimberlyreads That's frustrating! Has OC commented on it at all?
I always enjoy your reactions.
I wish they had switched the fairyloot adult and romantasy. Maybe the next fairy trove will have it.

Yay! Let me know throughout 2025 if you're successful reading all your book box books! It'll be a fun challenge.

So far I have skipped Jan-March for Illumicrate
I kept the Fairyloot Romantasy for December as it is PHENOMENAL
