My oldest brother served in Vietnam and came he when I was 12. I reread his letters, and understand things more each time. He committed suicide before his 40th birthday. He fought his demons for years and would never ask for help. NEVER be afraid to ask for help when needed. God bless you for stepping out like you are. I am a fan forever.

Your jacket says it all - thank you for your service to your country. This song is so beautiful and so deep and - as you said - the bass (Tim Foust) adds so much to the gravity of the song. It's almost an elegy. I've seen reactors who are also veterans reduced to tears by this video.

Hauntingly beautiful. They presented it with solemn, respectful, reverence.
The effect of the light from the windows shining through them gives it an unworldly vibe. And the guy's silhouettes in front of the windows is reminiscent of the MIA/POW flag image.
The settings are stark. As are the lyrics. But the harmonies are rich. Pipe organ tones. And those last 2 chords the final "Amen".

This version of Home Free will send shivers through your entire body! This is so emotional. Beautifully sung by Tim and Chance, but the background and harmony of Adam, Rob and Austin is also so beautiful. It looks like a choir or actually a kind of church organ sounds. And the whole setting of the video is just amazing. Simple but with so many details that makes it so profound
You should definitely follow Home Free. For me the number 1 A-cappela group. Coincidentally, you don't hear beatboxing here, but I can tell you that you would be amazed to hear Adam Rupp (left back in front of us). He is not an ordinary beatboxer/vocal percussionist but more of an inhuman mouth artist. The very best. Together with the amazing bass of Tim Foust, but sometimes also Adam Chance (further called Chance), here the 2 lead singers they don't need an instrument.

My hubby is a Desert Storm/Shield Vet. This song by Dire Straits is one of his favorites but he heard this version and he didn't speak. A week of nightmares, waking up yelling, you know the drill...It was Tim singing the bass that made it hit different ( the video I'm sure as well). I had the misfortune of stepping into the bank parking lot just as the North Hollywood bank robbers were coming out the front doors with guns blazing (Thankfully the parking lot's on the side and not the front). Having never heard actual gunfire before in my sheltered life, I was commenting to my coworker the next day on how the (what I thought at the time were AK47s) full-auto bursts sounded like cannons with the sound bouncing off the building across the street. My coworker said "when they're pointed right at you, they sound like popcorn popping". He was a Vietnam vet and it just added to my suburbanite trauma ;) I still carry that with me some 30 years later. I can't even imagine your experiences. Thank you for your service.
This is a heavy introduction to a great group. I just saw them live a couple weeks ago. The song was written by Mark Knopfler and originally performed by Dire Straits, but Tim Foust's ultra-deep bass voice definitely gives this version some emotional "weight". These guys have a lighter side for sure. Maybe check out their "Butts Remix/Medley" to lighten your spirits.

Ever since Mark Knopfler wrote this song it has been adopted by combat troops of all countries to express feelings that can't be understood by those who have not been down range. These guys get that and even though none of them have any personal experience with combat they all know someone who has.

First of all, Thank You for your service, you have my full respect. You should really follow Home Free, they call themselves an acapella country group. But they go way outside of country also. They have a hugh following, you start doing home free stuff, your subscriber count will shoot up fast. There are two more acapella groups you should check out, they also have hugh amount of followers. one is called PENTATONIX and the other is VOICE PLAY. Both are fantastic

I just subscribed and would love for you to do one of theirs that will make you smile. Try " Butts Remix", or "Champaign Taste on a Beer Buget". Enjoy the ride.
