I really like all of the Mummy movies. Karloff is outstanding in the first one. The Mummy’s Hand, and the three Chaney Jr. movies are all very fun to watch. They are like very early slasher movies with the Mummy character the way you would expect it to be from popular culture.

Right!! Exactly. These guys were Jason, Freddy and Michael before there was a Freddy, Jason and Michael.

Good catch on the names bungle in Abbott and Costello & Mummy! Lol!

Thanks! I was rolling. And I was like, is no one noticing this on set. And the "Lou" & "Costello" lines you can tell are a voice over, so they missed it even in looping!

Great review on "The Mummy". The Director of the '32 Karloff film is Karl Freund whose first film this was I believe, but prior to directing he was a well regarded cinematographer- it's definitely his expertise at work in the scene w/the great Crane shot tracking above Imhotep & Helen Grovenor into the reflecting pool with all the mist. 🎃

That shot was so epic. It really stood out for me. Excellent cinematography!

I had to go back and find part 2 of your series on the Universal Monsters. Great video!! I love the Mummy movies so much!!!

For The Mummy recap scenes, you said it yourself, there was no Blockbuster back then. These movies were not even on TV until decades later. So, they had to bring audiences up to speed.
That is an example of “we can’t watch movies from the 40’s with a 2021 mindset.” It just doesn’t work, my friend.
    Happy Halloween 🎃

So am I right in thinking that the black and white case that this 'Phantom of the Opera' film is in, is only available in this collection?
Coz I can't find it anywhere.

In this collection is not my favorite version of Phantom of the Opera. It was not bad, but I prefer the Chaney Sr. or Hammer versions to this.

Those are on my watch list now. Just recently got the silent version with Lon Chaney Sr, so I'll be watching that soon.
