I kept one paper box with two entrances below my house terrace roof for sparrows to come and nest. Sparrows never came :-( Surprisingly two pairs silver bills nested in the box, both nests are conjoined with different outlets. There is one more roof made of coconut leaves, there one pair Spotted munia has build a nest. Am so lucky to have these tiny cute birds nesting in house premises.

I have seen white rumped munia, scarlet breasted munia, tri-colour munia and silverbill munia. I found these 4 various munia in early morning of my house garden.
I’ve seen 2 of the white throated munia’s when me and my family went to a resort in Khammam, Telangana. They made a nest and came decently close to us and weren’t that afraid. They’re cool as hell.
I've seen scaly-breasted munia in Southern California. They're so beautiful! Apparently some evil people sold this species to be kept captive for human "entertainment" but some escaped and now make their homes in the US. Please don't keep birds in cages. Imagine having the gift of flight, and not being able to use it. 😢

Great to know and thankyou for sharing. The usual diet of White Throated Munia is mainly millets (indian yellow millet, pearl millet, finger millet, proso millet, etc) and other small grains. Try if any of this helps.
Most of them are selling in pet shops should the govt of India granted permission for trading and captive breeding once these birds are in instinctioons govt if India banned in 1980 s now days our ninety percent environment already destroyed by hunters and poachers with support political will this is time to raise our slogan to save these birds in nature nut the same time govt of India deaf dump and blind fairozahmed naturalist environmentalist and animal right activist thirpattur district Tamil Nadu

There are many scaly breasted munias which nest in my building. Raigad district.

Hallo I'm from suburb kolkata,in here we often seen small group of chestnut munia.
A pair of bird feeders in my house attract about 40 white breasted munias.
Scaly breasted Mumias comes to our dry area for feeding on Kang seeds kept for sparrows.
I think I saw grp of black and white munias on my sapota tree, are they fruit eating birds
Munias usually prefer to forage on the ground, especially close to reeds/grasses, and feed on millets and small grains.

It may be Star Finch, but they are not found in India as they are native to Australia.
It may have escaped from captivity.
