Although this video is about my dream, what happened in the dream is true. So during the Chinese New Year, if you are a Muslim, you can easily find halal food on the street, because although all restaurants will be closed for holidays during the New Year, halal restaurants will not.

In Indonesia, Chinese Muslims celebrate Chinese New Year, usually celebrating it by gathering with family, eating together, sharing Angpaos just like what Chinese Catholics and christians do...just gathering with family, eating together, sharing Angpaos..Usually a few days before the Chinese New Year, fellow Chinese Muslims hold a get-together at the mosque, for example, Chinese Muslims in Surabaya go to the Chenghoo Mosque in Surabaya (this mosque has Chinese architecture) usually we also invite several people around the mosque, invite orphans, poor, underprivileged people, we share our sustenance with them such as inviting them to eat together/chusan, giving money/sadakah/sadaqah
For Chinese Catholics and christians, usually a few days before Chinese New Year they go to church, for Chinese Buddhists they go to the temple/vihara, for Chinese Confucians they go to the temple....what we do when celebrating Chinese New Year varies depending on the religion... for Chinese Muslims, Christians and Catholics we don't do ancestral prayers..
Chinese New Year is not a religious celebration, but a celebration of Chinese ppl/Chinese traditions
Chinese Malaysian and Singaporean also do the same thing as Chinese Indonesian
we continue to celebrate our ethnic traditions, not forgetting our culture....
Usually Chinese New Year in Indonesia we call as Imlek/sincia/konyen/konien/kweni/koeni
Hokkien -> imlek & sincia
Im = lunar lek=calendar
Sin = new cia= first month
Hakka -> konyen/konien/konyien
Ko=past nyen=year
my teochew friends call it kweni/koeni i forget what it means if I'm not mistaken, the meaning is similar to konyen

Celebrate chinese new year or spring festival is nothing concerned with what your religion you are as long as you are a Chinese. I am a Malaysian Chinese .
In Malaysian we have 2 days as public holiday to celebrate every year.
In islam, as long as its not other religion. You can celebrate festival as long is not having haram thing. Problem is there's New chinese Muslim Who listen to minority extreme sect Who said its haram and they listen to them. Islam didn't came to destroy culture, its came to correcting culture but most People love to look at minority and claimed it to be face of islam. Same happened with isis, al qaeda.....

I think in order to find Halal food, you need to know chinese to use local apps and maps, because I was there using Apple maps, and I couldn't find a lot of Halal restaurants, and sometimes it says Halal in Apple maps and when I go they tell me it's not, but for sure from what I see on vlogs there are a loooot of Halal choices in China.
Yeah, a lot of them but can't find it on map, 😢especially some old or small restaurants
I think it's all around the world, when you search for halal restaurants they appear wherever you are and when you go, they say "no it's not". Muslims should be very careful with these Apps especially when you're not in a muslim country
