    Even when you are having a less than best hair day, it still looks good. I agree that it does have more product than normal. It reminds me of someone that normally wears a skin tint and shows up in a full face of makeup. It just looks heavy. You still rock it.

    I've tried this technique with mousse. Works out alot better as I feel gel is harder to distribute with this method.

      @@tabithagingerich I heard one of the other TH-camrs who is trained in dealing with wavy/curly hair and does her research(not Manes by Mell but another one who is also curly haired) said to NOT actually wash your hair leaning forward over the sink or bathtub(upside down) because that’s not how our hair molecules naturally sit. It’s better to wash it basically how we would standing straight up with the hair already down. Either way, thanks for giving it a try. It’s too much work for me at least. I just brush my hair and put it in a bun.

    This is exactly why I do not upside down style.
    My curl pattern is very similar to yours, and I upright style with a brush. It's the only way I can get any definition in the back and control how the front looks.
    Your hair did still look pretty though!

      Totally makes sense! I feel like that really helps with consistency throughout the hair.. but thank you! ❤️

    High, very helpful video, thank you 😊 I startet with shea moisture products too several years ago but it became much too heavy for my wavy Caucasian hair. It's fantastic products but for a more curly coily texture. I found lighter products now and will try these with this method. Just for inspiration, I love the Grow Gorgeous products and the Curlsmith products. These give my waves bounce 😊

    This is what I have to do with my hair! I've learned the hard way that I can't refresh by misting it, it just turns into a frizzy ball. I just dunk it in cold water, rinse some of the excess and use a light texture spray. Your hair has grown so long and beautiful, thanks for the tips!

    • @debraray5786
      @debraray5786 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine does the same thing on refresh - frizzy dry ball! Which texture spray do you use? Thanks!!

    • @mellbellsringing
      @mellbellsringing 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@debraray5786 I've been using a very small (1-2 sprays) amount of the Not Your Mother's Beach Babe spray. Because of the salt you do have to be careful not to overdo it, or you could wind up with a crunchy dry mess. I just got the Eva NYC Lazy Jane salt free wave spray today, so I can't report any results yet but I'm hopeful!

    • @pattyesf
      @pattyesf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought that only happened to me! You can also use a mousse that’s not gonna weight down your hair, works for me

    • @mellbellsringing
      @mellbellsringing 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@debraray5786 Update for ya! I soaked my hair to refresh and used a couple of pumps of the Eva NYC product on its own to scrunch a bit while wet (no drying off with a micro fiber towel). The hold is light and touchable, my curls dried down fluffy (not frizzy) and with great shape. They look better than yesterday! I'm a little shocked 😆

    Type of Beautiful has a plump method video from over a year ago. I follow the routine except I’ll rake my hands through my hair so it’s not stuck to my scalp. Then I’ll get the mids and ends soaking wet.

    This is almost how I do my hair. When soaking wet my hair naturally makes 6-8 big clumps. Instead of finger curling I just squish gel in.

    • @tabithagingerich
      @tabithagingerich  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would definitely like to try something similar to this again when my hair is upright 😊

    My issue with this method is that I get beautiful curls for a couple of hours, but they don’t last! Halfway through the day, those luxurious clumpy spirals become waves. I live in a dry climate that doesn’t encourage extra curl, so that might be a part of it. I’d have to go with a “wet” look and never scrunch out the crunch for this to last. And honestly the extra drying time isn’t worth it (this method requires a LOT more drying/diffusing time! Girl ain’t got no time for that!) So I have similar issues lol.

    I feel like I’m seeing everyone so this not quite the way it was in the original video. It’s not my #1 way of styling, but still she did originally smoosh not scrunch and everyone is either doing more scrunching or roping. What she did as smooshing originally was more like flat hands and she did pixie diffuse. And she went with whatever curl clumps her hair naturally did; she didn’t really “make” them. Unless I’m watching the complete wrong video as the original lol

    Thanks for sharing. Your hair looked pretty but definitely don't think it was the best routine for you. I have thick wavy/curly hair and I find that if I style it too wet it just doesn't hold, feels greasy with product, and I get 0 volume because my hair is just too heavy with all the product and water. Just my two cents - I always prefer to wrap my hair in a micro fiber towel for a few minutes before scrunching my product in.

    • @tabithagingerich

    That video of melindas was the first one i saw of hers. I think she saw it on manes by mell and she reference who came up with this technique. I tried this out back them and my hair did the same as yours. Marissas curls shared a video recently with another technique where you take about 3 - 5 layers and when you flip over you put your hands in your hair like claws and it helps with the flip. Sorry i cant remember what the methods called buy if i get a styling brush its something i want to try

    I don’t know why all these girls make it so complicated, my wavy hair is to my waist, just wet hair leave in conditioner maybe a curl cream a little jell and scrunch I try to just air dry, after 2 to 3 days at the most I need to brush and wet to get the knots out I can’t stand any knots Lol that’s the easiest for me but I like watching all the techniques , but they’re too much work lol

  • @michellebrown893

    You would have got better results without diffusing
    Air drying is better for clumping
