Thanks for the update about the art! I am glad they were honest about it and gives us (as consumers) a more educated choice on whether or not we want to support projects like these. Personally, as you said - i prefer human generated art and am far more likely to back those 3rd party HQ creators.
Yeah. That Dragon Plate armor is obviously an AI rendition of the Talisman of Lore with a dragon face instead of human is interesting. At the end of the day it's using artwork from folks like Max Dunbar and Nikki Dawes, which is a big disservice to their hard work as freelance artists.
Finally … endgame content for hero quest. After earning enough gold for every hero to equip them to their full amount, there was nothing left to do… until now.
I can see some iterations for home brewed classes such as a Cleric (Human or Dwarven). I can also see plate armor have a level requirement.of one or two. Another thought is that the village or town has a level which allows them the chance to have a higher level items. Maybe for level 4 you have to complete a queat to prove your worthiness. Increasing your monsterrs in response is a definate.
I think game developers all over the world should just agree that 'reroll a die' means you must accept the 2nd result by default. Is there ANY game ANY where that doesnt work that way?
I have gone back and forth on picking this up for myself to play as a alternate version to my Megaquest Hero Pack expansion. I cant say which system is better but im happy that so many people are like me and wish to make this amazing game even better. :)
Seeing the video got me interested in these two sets. Though I would like to see one or 2 playtroughs using this upgrades. I didnt quite understand how to get the gray, green and other colors exp points. neither how to get the new advance jobs. For example, if you start lets say witht he barbarian, and you want to be a berserker, do you have to level up once with the barbarian and then become a lv 1 berserker? I would really appreciate a playtrough to get this set for sure, Because they are interesting and my players have always wanted to lvl up in the game to get stronger and this would be great, just more detailed explanation please
I had similar questions I wanted to know, but some of it may have been deliberately left ambiguous (this is all homebrew, of course), which allows for house ruling situations. Go with whatever feels right for your game, I'd say.
This looks like a great addition. I have thought about building card sets and selling them also. AI art, while cheesy looking, is appealing, as it's an easy way to obtain artwork, without getting sued or fighting over licensing agreements. If you have other suggestions, I would love to hear them. This is a great game that has so much creative potential.
Are these cards the same size as those in the base game? P.S. Where's a good place to get extra (custom) equipment cards from? Was really wanting to expand the game with options.
A lot of the card art (all of it, really) appears to be AI-generated, but the DTRPG listing does not appear to mention that (as it should if it does, per their ToS). Can you confirm if these cards use AI art or not?
The class emblem cards are also just straight up copied from the warlock, great weapon fighter, paladin, defender, rogue, cleric, and ranger classes from Neverwinter (the pc/console mmo). I'm guessing they didn't license them, which is significantly worse than AI art.
I have axian quest, from the looks of it there are more options when searching for treasure in the furniture with axian. There are more hero upgrades with this set however.
I chose this set because the art / style / how to play / seems better to intergrate with current heroquest. Axian Quest cards don't look visually appealing and don't match HQ.
I am quite new to Hero Quest. In fact, I haven't even begun the original campaign with my friends. I'm doing my best to research and learn about the game in order to be the best Zargon that I can be. I don't quite understand these cards, but it is obviously because of my lack of experience. When characters play Hero Quest "normally," there is no leveling up, right? Won't leveling up characters and giving them extra abilities destroy the balance of the game? And when a group finishes all of the trials of floors (of the original game system, say), do they begin an expansion with the character that they were using?
In a word, yes, all that is correct. It is the challenge of the homebrew maker that the cards are in some way balanced. That said, there are a lot of player styles and cards like this might make it easier for heroes who would rather separate or have a little more autonomy - it doesn't take l9ng for most adult players to fall into a predictable meta game of "Barbarian stands in front of door and tanks monsters", which can make the game very unfun for some tables. This is partly why HQ is so fun to homebrew.
@@AshQuest Drivethru recently combined the sites. AGS 1 is on drivethrurpg, but not deck 2. Deck 2 is on drive thru cards. Problem is, most cards are on drivethrurpg now, which I have codes for, so I can't add ags 2 to the order. They would have to be separate and two different shipping charges.
What they really need to do is replace the dice movement and replace it with movement cards. Like you can play what movement you want and pull them back up playing the two movement. Just something better than random we have now, more controlled, would greatly fix my issues with it. Combat is fine with dice because well, d&d....
Compatible with AA from what I've seen, and a lot of the abilities here should allow you to tell the app if you killed a monster - so much of the app is honor system, that it does give you quite a bit of leeway with homebrew systems
@AshQuest Based on this video and thyour AxianQuest I am thinking of getting either 1 or both. Do you feel they work well together? If not and you were only going to pick 1 would you AxianQuest or Advanced Game System (All Packs)?
They offer pretty different feels in terms of gameplay. Axian can get your heroes overpowered with artifacts but the artifact hunter keeps that in check. The infinite dungeon is an interesting way to play solo. AGS is well designed in terms of adding stats for heroes as they level up. You'd need to look at the available abilities and spells offered by each and see what you might think feels overpowered as a zargon player. I am cheating a bit with this answer but I think they are both worthy of consideration, just depends on what you would find more interesting for your group!
@@AshQuest awesome. Thanks. I will probably pick up both and try them out. I appreciate the response and always love your videos. You’re doing a great job.
Hi @ashQuest i got these.. was wondering what your opinion was on level up? Its not clear but i gather they get to gain 1 skill on a level up.. for the bard and tavernkeeper skill not sure if these can be done as of level one or save them for lvls 5-8.. also given the expansion do you have a opinion on the xp level.. values 500xp per level seems alittle easy given the amount of expansions we have to get through ;)...?
I'm late to this one! To me, the rules are once a hero becomes level X, all spells that say "requires level X" are now available for use, letting heroes grow stronger and stronger with each level. As to how much experience is too fast, I'd say...play and see! Some of your heroes will gain xp faster than others, and you may see a sort of dynamic take place wherein players begin to realize they can all be stronger together, playing cooperatively to allow weaker heroes have a finishing blow to gain their own XP and level up. Then agin, you may see quite a variance - one stronger hero may tank, becoming a much higher level before the others do, and they might be fine with it! I'd love to know how your game plays out!
I like the look of everything here, but AxianQuest is a bit more expansive and customizable than this. I like the wide range of character options through AQ and this system looks more tethered to class choices. Axian allows for more interesting builds at higher tiers of play, and broader depth in design. But, I can see this system working well for those who maybe dont want quite so much variety and more of a standard, old school xp accumulation design.
I'm seeing some stolen art assets, which sours me on the product a little bit (the class emblems are stolen from Neverwinter online with no modifications) in addition to the AI art. That could put the makers of this product in the sights of WoTC and Hasbro since they've likely copyrighted them. But thats more a moral/ethical complaint. The changes to the system are interesting.
@@AshQuest to me it looks like it massively overpowers Heroes (which already end up overpowered), but does little to buff, or add interesting options, for the Evil Player and monsters to compensate. May e that's what part 3 fixes? How did it actally work in play? Also the out of place feeling classes like blacksmith and bartender. And since we have an official Berserker Hero class now that class will need to be renamed too.
Ash, seriously, thank you for these videos. It's great to see all the new fun ways Hero Quest is growing, and you talk and show them so well. Awesome.

Many years ago, GW in Warhammer fantasy battles had an item called “shiny baubles” that allowed Orks to reroll a reroll.
The comment about the last unicorn made me laugh.
This really opened up some options with 2 new dwarves in the Delthrak expansion.
I have gone back and forth on picking this up for myself to play as a alternate version to my Megaquest Hero Pack expansion. I cant say which system is better but im happy that so many people are like me and wish to make this amazing game even better. :)

This looks very interesting.

I commission and use contracts but I understand not everyone has the means or comfort for that.
Ash, I have a Segway question? Ever play Kingdom Death Monster?
I have not. It looks pretty dang cool, but I feel like I'll need some serious time to set aside to research if I'd like the gameplay.
Ash where sell these or where can I get them from please 👍🏿

@AshQuest… what board are you useing in the video. It Looks so good !!
It's an Ian Schofield's Beautiful Dungeon Mats product, go look on Drivethrurpg.com!

AGS II doesn't seem to be on drivethrurpg yet. Shame, cause I have some other cards I wanted to pick up at the same time.
