    I had two BSA's a 250 and 650....always loved them...this bike really caught my eye and tempted....

      Their seems to be a lot of negativity towards it which is a shame. My friend loves his and had no regrets in buying it. Let me know if you buy one. Cheers

    It's a pretty bike, not very practical but I could see where someone may enjoy washing and polishing all the chrome then standing back & admiring the shinny thing. For the money, I'd go with the Moto Guzzi V7 though. You'd get two cylinders a truly air cooled engine more horsepower and torque, 4 piston front caliper 2 piston rear (vs the bsa 2/1 setup, a 21 liter fuel tank (vs 12) for day long range, shaft final drive, 6 speed transmission, a comfortable molded seat, tubeless tires - a true mile muncher when a windscreen and a tail bag are added + a blast to push in mountains. Hand built in Mandela Delario along beautiful Lake Como in Italy where you are cordially invited to visit annually.

      I know exactly what you men. I recently bought a V7II to ride to work on but it is just too much fun just for daily duties & now gets ridden everywhere...
      Which is why I can see a Gold Star in my future. I already love the engine (I had an F650 BMW a while back) & it would be perfect for the ride up the hill to the office, which would leave the Guzzi for weekend blasts through the hills. Win/win!

    Better. Superior. Awsome. Me and my brother got one each. Brilliant. Goes along side my A7 and Lightening. Amongst other modern bikes.

    I've owned both these bikes, indeed I sold the RE to buy the BSA because I found the extra grunt allowed me to easily overtake cars whereas the RE struggled and I found I was getting stuck in traffic.
    One thing I would say is that I notice you still have the baffle in your bike. I strongly suggest removing it as it transforms both the sound and power delivery of the bike. I put a video on TH-cam on how to do it and, just in case you're worried, it's easily reversible and has caused no issues whatsoever with my bike. Sounds superb.
    Regards the inevitable Gold Star vs Continental debate. Despite the apparent similarities they are very different bikes, single and twin. Personally I like the character of the single, possibly because I also ride vintage British singles, but if someone prefers a twin, then that's fine, The Continental, it's a more "modern" design with very different power delivery. (seat is like an ironing board compared to the BSA though).
    Anyway. 1200 miles on my bike now and loving every minute.

    Wow! Didn't know BSA was still in business with motorbikes! I owned a BSA 175cc Bantam back in 1970-71. Rode it all over Gloucestershire back then.

    • @thesussexrider
      @thesussexrider  ปีที่แล้ว

      My brother had a 175 Bantam also! Sadly his broke down all the time! You must have same great stories from back then!

    Was looking at these at the MCN Festival at the weekend. Be a difficult decision between the BSA and Interceptor. I definitely prefer the look from the exhaust side of the BSA, not so keen on the hoses on show the other side.
    Personally, I would currently go Royal Enfield simply because it's more proven, but good luck to all the new BSA buyers, their experience will influence how future sales go.

    • @thesussexrider
      @thesussexrider  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree with you. It's a great looking bike but having owned an Interceptor, I'd go with that again rather than the BSA. He loves it and, of course, in the end that is all that matters.

    I heard BSA still make mid level telescopic sights for rifles plus they were making bikes in Nigeria with Yamaha engines but probably not for export?
    I'm 'old school' and had real Royal Enfield's, 1965 Continental GT, Crusaders, etc.

    • @thesussexrider
      @thesussexrider  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't know that about them still making telescopic sights - that's cool if it's for real. Plus the Yamaha engines in Nigeria. I'll try and find out through my network. Post a pic of your old RE bikes - people would love to see them. Cheers

    The speedo getting stuck is an issue with the Royal Enfield new Classic 350 but it can be sorted under warranty so I've seen. Not an issue with the Classic 500, as the clocks are totally different.

    • @thesussexrider
      @thesussexrider  ปีที่แล้ว

    Enjoyed the video but curious to hear where Ian bought his bike from because as far as I know there are no Sussex dealers stocking or servicing them. The website told me my nearest dealer (from Eastbourne) is in Maidstone. That dealer is on open 9-1 on a Saturday and closed Sundays so I’m screwed for getting it serviced under warranty. If there were more (nearer) dealers I’d buy one.

    • @thesussexrider

    I wonder if they will sell more bikes by calling it "BSA" than if they had come up with an original name - it sure ain't british and it sure ain't a BSA. I'll leave for someone else to decide if that is a good or a bad. It's a motorcycle born and raised in India with a Rotax engine, nothing inherently bad with that. The cracking oil tank seems like they have tried to keep some of the original BSA spirit going though...

    • @thesussexrider
      @thesussexrider  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting - I wonder if they would have? Does a new name put people off? Does playing the nostalgic card mean more sales. I would have thought so. Saying that though I had an MG back in the old days but I don't look at the new MGs and get nostalgic. In my mind it's totally different and could have been called any name really. I'm not worried about where things are made - I just want reliability these days! Cheers
