    Amazing how Joshua doesn't move around much in this fight, but mostly reacts to Usyk's moves. It took Joshua much longer to make adjustments. Throughout the fight, Joshua plays second fiddle and makes little attempt at changing the pace and direction of the fight by using his attributes - height, reach, and weight. There were very few moments of clinch, which allows you to exert weight on the smaller opponent and frustrate him. I can only imagine how much Usyk was enjoying this fight, capping it off with that beautiful flurry of punches in the closing seconds of round 12. As a Joshua fan I was disappointed to see him lose but, oh boy, I enjoyed watching Usyk's dazzling brilliance.

      seeing Chisora's performance against Usyk, It felt like Joshua could have fallen for the trap but still off better if he followed through with a right. Lots of times he got trapped throwing a reactionary Jab, but if he took the hit as the bigger man and carried on with a right he would have come off better.
      If he had Chisora's aggression with his own athleticism he would have done more damage, but he was too timid and rarely doubled up and got bullied around by Usyk something Chisora did not allow.

    I do think Usyk did study AJ’s style and was anticipating his every move . And Usyk had the skill , power and speed to execute a brilliant game plan . If there is an AJ / Usyk two I think AJ might adjust his approach and strategy in fighting Usyk . Usyk was incredibly hard to read or anticipate . I’m not sure AJ ever did land even one of his super punches to Usyk , if he had been able to do this it may have been a different outcome . That being said it took great skill and ability at the highest level for Usyk to beat a top notch boxer like AJ.

The way he close the distance, hit from the outside, and get the head inside. Thank you Hidden Gem 💎 for this excellent analysis. Since I am a southpaw boxer (study the tactics and your video analyses of Pacquiao and Spence- I also study Gervonta “Tank” Davis and the VERY UNDERRATED Ronald “Winky” Wright- very fundamentally sound and defensively responsible boxer), I have been recently studying Oleksandr Usyk’s very effective boxing 🥊 style. I rarely study many heavyweight boxers; however, Usyk fights like a lighter boxer. In this particular fight against the great champion Joshua, I like the fact that you noticed his change of head slots to the inside as he would fire 🔥 🥊 that stiff jab. That reminded me of when the legendary Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao would do the same when he boxed and defeated Thurman and Antonio Margarito 🇲🇽. Against Thurman, Manny would fire 🔥 🥊 that 1-2-1, and even unleash a 1-2 (head slot inside) and backskip his left leg while doubling up on his straight left which increases the power of his combination, making it a 1-2-2. God bless you and thank you Hidden Gem 💎 🔥😎.

    nice job. im sure you saw this ... at one point, AJ feinted his probing jab and brought a straight right right in behind it to catch Usyk as he was doing that head dive into the middle. It was his best punch. Couldn't land it again though from what I saw.
    the game plan took AJ by surprise and he made adjustments along the way and almost got him a couple times.
    Usyk was so prepared, knew what possible counters might be and everytime AJ figured him out he brought out something new. No wonder he cried. He must have worked incredibly hard to have all those techniques down, study all that film, and have that much stamina to bring it like that all the way through. CONGRATS TO USYK!

      @@29slowjoe Usyk was this fight for sure. Could AJ adjust and make the second fight alot different? For sure!
      If a guys gonna time your jab like that, you have plenty of options.
      AJ can heave some uppercuts right down the middle, make him pay every time (tommy hearns fav, hearns would even feint the jab and throw a left uppercut to catch a guy trying to slip outside).
      He can lead with a left hook instead of a jab. would be harder for Usyk to slip to either side.
      He can crowd him. unlike Ruiz, AJ does not have to fear Usyk on the inside. so crowd him, lean on him, use your size, dig to the body when your in there (right to the body was AJ's best punch actually), get him moving backward. much harder for Usyk to score with this style if he's moving backwards.
      Really its just how hard he wants to work leading up to the next fight. will he put the time in, figure out his strategy and build out his techniques so that he's ready whatever Usyk throws at him ... and vice versa.
      Can't wait for the next one!

    Joshua fell into the trap of turning this into a Chess match playing into Usyk’s strengths . I guess he’s been spending too much time on the chess board outside the ring and now fancies himself as some chess grandmaster. He should have stuck to his own strengths and be prepared to take some shots going in and rough Usyk up from the inside. Usyk didn’t fancy an inside rough and tumble fight.

    • @29slowjoe
      @29slowjoe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      He did stick to his own game. Did you watch the video? AJ has always been a guy to get lead hand control before "sticking to his syrengths" Usyk never let it happen.
      If you cant get a good probe or jab going everything else is useless.

      @@29slowjoe What people don't get is AJ isn't Wilder or Chisora. AJ also isn't Fury. He's actually kind of in the middle. More technical than brawlers but more of a brawler than pure boxers like Fury and Usyk.
      So Usyk and Fury are better boxers than AJ. Chisora and maybe prime Povetkin are better brawlers. But AJ has a mix and always has. AJ also isn't a one shot KO artist like Wilder, he is more a combination TKO artist. That's what I love about AJ, he's really well rounded and in the middle.
      But against Usyk he has to be a bit more aggressive and change his style up a little. More shots, less caution, more clinching, more backpedaling, and more strength conditioning are need.
      Work on quick yet powerful shots rather relying on wind up shots. He's got to throw more. Jab or swing and backpedal. Clinch when tagged but do not backpedal when tagged. Only backpedal to avoid individual shots.

    • @billclark5055
      @billclark5055 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Stefan Kovacevic I said brawler, AJ is definitely a better boxer than Povetkin. Fury wouldn't get murdered by any Povetkin, you're crazy. Sanchez will be a better boxer than any Povetkin. Doesn't mean Povetkin wouldn't beat him but in terms of technical skills Sanchez has more potential

    What's frustrating about AJ is he doesn't attempt to take tactics from his country predecessor in Lewis. It shows how amazingly blessed Lennox was. Because he rarely got gassed despite being the same size. And his jab kept you at bay on the outside or be hit with it. He also was a master of setting up punches off his jab. It's incredible that at 31 AJ still seems to be raw and still learning. I believe he still has not recovered psychologically from the temple/equilibrium shot from Ruiz. I saw Roy Jones get clocked by Tarver after Antonio knew he would have to eat some to land the Suzy Q.

      @rockabye_baby187 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@irvinmorales1409 lol absolutely its funny you bring up Steward because after the fight I went back in time to watch the bout vs Tyson. In that fight...we all remember Steward chewing Lennox's ass out for his, at times, biggest flaw which was being passive aggressive when he shouldve hit the pedal and punished opponents. AJ has to hone how to not expend yourself early in fights and then be tired later on. Or wait to begin your scoring leading with defense first. Part of which is knowing what punches to attempt. The additional aspects to haggle over is of course remaining disciplined each round.

      @SCAN did you read what I said... You did not. I never said Usyk beat him because he was gassed. Number 2 Vitali was supposedly ahead by 2 on the score cards after Lennox opened that 60 stitch cut. Regardless he didn't finish the fight. Get your facts straight first then comment. I said he needed to emulate Lewis more as far as using the jab more effectively and frequently.

    • @29slowjoe
      @29slowjoe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lewis was alot more stationary than AJ relying on upper body movement which can get you in bad positions and Honestly AJ would smoke Lewis in my opinion.
      He struggled with an undersized over the hill holyfield and got wrecked by vitali.

    Usyk's foot position is also so tight, which you can see in the inside jab clips -- AJ almost completely trips over Usyk's feet as he staggers back. That tight foot position control was impressive throughout the fight. Similarly, if you watch Lopez vs Loma, Lopez knows how to play footsies back with Loma and Teofimo kept taking that outside foot position away from Loma, limiting Vasily's ability to pivot and punch from the outside angle (which is a key part of his "Matrix" style).

    I think the issue with using lead hand a lot is that once your opponent neutralizes it you are left without options. Take Myke Tyson or anyone who uses head movement and his feet to get inside, if you cant use your lead hand to keep him at bay and your opponent doesnt uses jabs or his own lead you cant really predict what he is going to do, and if you just try to jab him but cant hit him then you wont be able to stop him.
