That's a cool way to clean track! I think the Menards sets are a good idea, because they can attract new people to the hobby because of the price point.

Menards sets are fine for the beginners but I like the sound from the modern trains like legacy and ps3. The track cleaning car are nice, does a pretty good job.

@@LawsonRailway sure no problem. I use iMovie on my phone to do the editing. They have a bunch of TH-cam videos out here how to use it. I’m not sure if android phones have a movie app but I’m sure they probably do. Hope this helps and good luck.!👍🏻

Neat cleaning car Mark. Given how small my layout is, I just use paper towels to clean my track. However you don’t want to get rid of all the grease on your layout. I’d say once a year I clean my track. Think I should clean my track better?

Hi Mark, I have yet to get that cleaning car but definitely want one, I see it works very well, I made my own with a flat car and magic eraser pad with alcohol and it works but u have to stop and put more alcohol on pad sometimes I seen u used a liquid type of grease for gears does it get on track? I use labella oil for axles which is synthetic and grease on gears and grease gets on tracks and switches sometimes? I wonder if I use to much ? I probably grease more than I probably should but I’m a heavy maintenance guy Thanks ahead for any advice and video (Eddie)
Awesome Eddie 👍🏻 I’ve seen a lot of folks use very creative track cleaning like you. What a fantastic idea using a magic eraser.! 😊 I’ll bet it does a great job. The gear lube I use was recommended by Tim at my local hobby shop. It’s actually a bit sticky and does not get on the rails and does not drip. The black gunk is the oxidation left behind where the train wheels meet the track and sometimes makes a visible spark. Myself as well on the maintenance especially dust. Hope this helps?
