- Today we will be discussing the similarities and differences of Baizhu and Dottore to see how similar or different they really are.
The Doctor, also know as Dottore or Dottore has to be my least favorite of the bunch, I don´t like him much, not even as a villain BUT, just because I don´t like a character doesn't mean I won´t do a character analysis on them and try to be as unbiased as possible nor will I be okay with spreading misconceptions about them because every character deserves to be recognised in thier true form.

Not sure if they started it but a content creator named Koukoro made a joke about Dottore being a creep to Collei. But the thing that really bothered me about him saying that wasn't just because it was just incorrect, but because he said that in order to make a grape joke...it was something along the lines of Dottore doing x to Collei and then after that he said I would too. After that he made a response video essentially not giving a shit and the comments on that video is concerning divided. Honestly don't check it out for your sanity. Really makes you lose faith in humanity.

Most of the fandom don't know anything about Dottore, and it's important to understand someone's story before condemning them, especially considering Teyvat is a simulation.
Dottore is one of the only people trying to liberate humanity from the matrix as it were, and he will do whatever it takes to achieve that.
I'm also not sure why you started talking about Pantalone, let alone cloning him. Baizhu and him have no more of a connection than Eula and Arlecchino or Xingqiu and Yelan. Lol.
Edit: Dottore has experimented on various people, as a matter of fact, mostly adult test subjects. Also important to note is that the manhua Segment is the one who was involved with Collei, so in a way it both is and isn't Dottore. And with respect to objectivity, although Collei certainly did not have a great time with the Fatui, she also didn't have a great time in the wilderness of Sumeru, where she would have undoubtedly died of Eleazar. We saw how much Dunyarzad struggled with it and she was from a rich family that could afford one of the best mercenaries to guard her 24/7. Now imagine being completely alone, and succumbing to Eleazar in the widlerness. People should read the Schwanenritter records so they can get a good idea of just how awful being stricken with Eleazar is in the wild. Dottore managed to stop the spread of Collei's eleazar and even cure it in Abbas and others (with archon residue vaccines - caravan ribat announcement.) These were made from the remains of King Deshret, which is why they were deemed heretical to take. Literally no other reason than that (though Abbas did experience 'mad scholar syndrome,' that was a side effect rather than intended consequence. Worth saying all Dar Al-Shifa subjects were adults.)
Until recently that Hoyoverse needed to sweep for Arlecchino because she is literally a grxxmer (in the sense of brainwashing/cult tactics) even after the sweeping job, Dottore never had a single thing to do with HoTH, nor was he mentioned. Crucabena was an afterthought and it seems she was the one who was in charge of those experiments. We don't even know *which* Dottore was in the HoTH, considering it is in Fontaine and Dottore is both a native of Sumeru AND mostly in Snezhnaya since his exile, so the chances are high that this was a Dottore segment who worked with the prior Knave and suggested working with Peruere when she became the Knave - that would explain her unwarranted confidence in thinking she could take him, when by all objective metrics, Dottore (specifically, but likely not limited to, Omega Build) would kick her ass into next Sunday and sweep the floor with her harder than Hoyo swept her more unpalatable characteristics by pinning then on Crucabena, who has no rational motivations - this hurts both the Tsaritsa [who clearly knew about the experiments] and Dottore's character, just to sell some mediocre glupshitto groomer. Really bad decision, they should have either written her the way she is now from the go, or stuck with her being crazy. Also hurts Scaramouche's character, he sees through Pulcinella manipulating Childe, but believes his rumours? Lmao, ok.
In any case, there's a very simple way to prove Dottore isn't a pdf file: firstly, he had a crush on a girl named Sohreh, who was his senior at the Akademiya (Devantaka Mountain records of her diary.) Although the circumstances behind her death remain unsolved and are suspicious, Dottore/Zandik at first didn't want to talk to anyone but warmed up to her quickly and spent all afternoon speaking about Amurta-related subjects with her. Why would he do that aside from genuine interest, if his goal originally was simply to investigate the ruins and he was indeed ignoring her at first? He is even the one who proposed going on a picnic, and he brought her back alive/saved the expedition team only to be punished anyway simply for suggesting the ruin guard should be brought back to be analysed by the Akademiya. Sohreh is literally the only person who had treated him nicely up to that point and who took interest in his research, so it is obvious why he was smitten with her in turn. Also, the love language of scholars is to indulge each others' topics of expertise/interest, which both of them did, but notably, Dottore/Zandik was the one to do so first for Sohreh, even helping her name the scarab species she discovered (Nahidad scarabs after AQ, something named after Rhukkadevata before that), and discussing theories of evolution of different Sumeru species, which shows genuine interest in stuff Sohreh cares about. Considering Zandik can be very arrogant and rigid (even back then, Sohreh notes the latter), the fact he spent all afternoon chatting it up with her instead of doing his work or secret research speaks volumes - he was in love. ❤
We also have the flirtatious dialogue between him and Columbina in WNL. Again, Zandik isn't the type to joke about or take even things said in jest well, he tends to be neutral to snappy and isn't very well-liked by either his subordinates (Dr. Fronkoonstein) or his fellow Harbingers (Childe and Columbina are the only exceptions right now, Signora disliked him, Scaramouche disliked him immensely even before the AQ interlude, Arlecchino can't stand him, and Sandrone, Pantalone, Pierro, Capitano are unknown status, though Dottore has worked with the first two, that in itself doesn't mean much considering Childe and Signora worked together too, but they disliked each other.) Anyway, the fact he doesn't threaten Columbina (conversely, he threatens to destroy Scaramouche over a remark he made at the Akademiya when he called him crazy essentially, despite his importance to the AG project, lol), but laughs shortly after and answers her question re: where Omega is at that moment shows they have an affinity for each other. Colombina's tone is also coquettish, and it is interesting these two characters who were largely isolated from the rest of the Harbingers even in WNL trailer are so close with each other. Also, that Columbina doesn't seem to take Arlecchino very seriously at all [she basically speaks nonsense to her, lol], but she hangs around Dottore and teases him [knowing he doesn't take being called young as a compliment, but he lets it slide, which he would not if it were anyone else] despite having nothing to do with scientific research or funding (why is she in his lab? It'd be one thing if it was Pierro, Sandrone, or Pantalone, all of whom have good work-related reasons to visit Dottore [orders, collaboration/funding expenditures], but Columbina? And such a casual, flirtatious conversation, too? Which Dottore reciprocates in a Dottore way (not threatening to k*ll her and brushing it off/letting her hang out there is as close to affinity as a post-Fatui Dottore is going to get, he's become very jaded since his Akademiya days, and even before that, you can see he is increasingly jaded with each experiment/project he runs even in the Akademiya.)
Moreover, we don't know the circumstances of his expulsion or whether it was even fair. We've seen how unjust they can be, even to their own Archon, so why are we presuming they were entirely fair to Dottore/Zandik? I would even wager they weren't, because there's a lot we don't know about him.
I also disagree with the premise Dottore (Zandik/Omega) is a sadist. Arlecchino is more that, even if she tries to sugarcoat it by only going after what she thinks are "bad" people, the result is the same, and she has been tragically wrong before, like her striking Furina and being wrong about her character entirely (which we have zero apology from her for thus far.) Why are we taking her word at face value, even with the slop sweep job story quest, when so many things still remain unknown?
If Dottore was a sadist like his manhua counterpart, he would not have fallen for Nahida's gamble and wouldn't have cared about the HP endangering his comrades in Snezhnaya. He would have tried to off us instead of putting us to sleep, or taken Nahida's gnosis by force, as we see Signora do with Venti (from her PoV), try to do with Ei, Childe try to do with Zhongli's exuvia, and Arlecchino try to do with Furina. Dottore is the ONLY Harbinger who NEVER tried to obtain the gnosis by force, but fairly, despite having every advantage. Not to mention the one who gave us valuable Intel re: descenders, our siblings, and the nature of Teyvat, which is more than Arlecchino has ever done for us despite working in intel (we can also deduce these are the fruits of his own research, given Arlecchino wants nothing to do with him, as she finds it a far better use of her time to indulge her sadism by murdering random fraudsters rather than do something meaningful on a world scale.) In any case, those are two adult women Dottore has canonically expressed romantic interest in (Sohreh) and been shipteased with (Columbina.)
Collei's trauma stems from a variety of sources, not limited to her time in the Fatui, though that was part of it, her time wandering the desert and being betrayed by the people she thought were friends there also contributed to it. One of them literally fed her to the (rift)wolves to try and save herself, which is why she vowed never to trust anyone again, and why Amber's friendship became so important. That had nothing to do with Dottore, though.
You can add as an extra evidence the very cutscene you use in your video with Katheryne, where he is very clearly about to kiss Katheryne - definitely fanservice on Hoyo's part, but we've never seen a Harbinger do that. The tango music that plays adds an extra layer of romanticism to it, giving him a seductive aura, which makes sense since the Dottore of the Commedia is usually portrayed as enjoying the company of young women (WOMEN, though, which implies adults.)
As far as Baizhu, idk, and idc. I think his SQ clears those misconceptions well but I also don't care to say much on him, Dottore is the only one I care about. ❤
1) I don't know what dialogue between Columbina and Dottore there is in WNL (A Winter night's lazzo?), i only remember the dialogue between him and Pierro, so, it's a sort of a question as to specific lines you refer to.
2) What about the way how he spun the story of Niwa to Scaramouche in order to get him to join the Fatui? Especially since he made Scaramouche believe Niwa betrayed him for 400 years ever since the Tatarasuna incident?
3) Arlecchino and grooming... That's an interesting view. Not really heard of it before, and also not quite sure I fully agree with that view (the cult-like thing - absolutely agree though, however, it's logical to me due to how the HotH operates)

the "Arlecchino is groomer" take sure is an interesting one though, and i can see why you've come to such conclusion, but that is just headcanon honestly so, that's that i guess
as for all the Crucabena stuff, 100% right she should not have been turned into Just A Scapegoat for Arlecchino, that stuff is boring as hell and her position as the previous knave could've been so interesting if it was used more effectively. i actually feel bad for the writers that had to work with this characterisation cause if they were allowed to make a slight turn for her character it could've made both Arlecchino and Crucabena more interesting characters
