    The stock engine light is great. You can check your fluids in complete darkness! 240 for life!

    I had one of these in silver. Loved it . Fantastic boot, automatic, sunroof, great turning circle, liked the sound of the engine, no computer, liked all the compartments, cozy in the back, velour upholstery but rust started coming in the rear wheel arches. Fuel consumption very thirsty. After a long journey I used to feel I’d been too long in a fairground walzer. Picked up a 2005 v70. Love it.

    I recommend making it a habit to keep all the drainage clear. That helps to minimize rust. I keep a little brush in my '82 just for that purpose.

    Great review. You must not be too far from me - I'm in Montreal. I have my grandfather's 1982 244DL Sedan with the same blue interior to this one (tho my car is ivory in color). Amazing how rust free that car is especially for an eastern-Canadian 240 (there are not many left). Advice if you want to keep it as mint as possible - stay from the winter salt. There are a few spots where they are known to rust - keep up on fixing away the rust before it gets out of hand (rockers, wheel wells, A pillar/window especially). Also I think up until 1990 they had wiring degradation issues, so check on that. Otherwise pretty indestructible cars! You can swap the clock to a tachometer and then a small clock to the right of the gage cluster and/or volt/oil gages (52mm I think). Lots of options - I had my clock swapped for a tach + small clock + volts. Hope your friend keeps enjoying the car and knows someone who knows how to service them.

      Thank you very much! Yeah my friend who owns it puts it away for the winter and doesn’t drive it at all in the winter, he likes it so much so that he bought another 240 but a wagon this time 🤣, thanks again for the info 👌👌👌

    It's a 2.3L in this era. The 240 badge has nothing to do with engine size. The 240 series came before. With the 242 (2 door) 244 (4 door) 245 (5 door wagon) then in the 80s, just simplified it to the "240" Volvo. I had a 1990 DL in white. Awesome cars. I will own another.

    the 240 was a wonderful car, very reliable, versatile, bullet proof, comfortable and a well kept secret, it was fun to drive.
    this exact car is another beast when equipped with the namual gearbox, much more lively performance and better in all aspects.
    It is a shame that they ceased to produce that car or a derivative.
    the FWD and AWD cars that they produce now are buckets of electronic shit, a nightmare to maintain and a money pit.

    When the bonnet is raised vertically (moving a couple of levers on the hinge) the light works better. Not that you ever need to open the bonnet/hood outside of servicing.
    This is more or less the same car my dad had, the engine will be 2.1L. I have a 87 Volvo 360 with a 2.3 Turbo in it.

    Very nice review. I'm about to drive through my country to maybe buy one with the same seats, how did you feel inside ? were they soft and comfy like a couch or rather hard ? I usually incline back my seat a lot to drive comfortably

    • @speceuropro.777
      @speceuropro.777  ปีที่แล้ว

      I find the seats were pretty nice, not too soft and not too hard so basically they are perfect comfort level, keep in mind though, the head rest are super uncomfortable because they are like plastic/slight leather material, overall a pretty comfortable car 👍

      @@jacquespoirier9071 well, I ended up driving 1200km to buy a nice 95' 250D Mercedes W124. I think the comfort is at least as good as in a 240, but in France the gas price are killing us. The merc consume 2x less fuel than the 240 and cost less ... not negligeable for a daily. Maybe one daily I'll be rich enough to own both 🙈
