It is Soto, 46:34 , but unlike 90% of his other performances, he lost his “head voice” and is screaming (pulling chest) to manage the high register above Bb4 (mainly the issue is the first tune only). He normally glides through, so he either was sick or lost his voice lack of sleep. Singing is not like playing guitar. He recovered it finally for the very difficult Soldier without faith verse at 26:58 which is pretty impressive, Yngwie cut him a break allowing only one verse here and in Viking. I think he should have used falseto earlier like Graham Bonett used to do to make through a show in Alcatrazz, but it is a weaker sound.
I understand your POV, but disagree. I am of the belief that he developed CTE or some similar neurological degenerative disorder from the automobile accident he had in 1987. He was extremely fortunate not to succumb to his injuries, and is well-known to have lost the use of his pick hand for months afterward. Had he died or become too disabled to regain his playing ability I think a gtlreat many people would gave a different (better) opinion of Yngwie, in the same way other guitarists like Hendrix, Rhoads, and SRV whose lives and careers were cut short.
@@vincentgarzoli3197 Malmsteen had/has a phenomenal talent but he was/is only concerned with playing to an extremely niche market - that was very deliberate. He knows that, you know that, we all know that. The 'musical crime' (he had the tools) was that he did not explore playing to a wide audience. That affects his legacy.
@@ChrisM541 If you want to play the argument that he didn’t mature musically, then you almost have to consider that his evolution ceased around age 15, since he was basically fully-formed in his style by that point. There is not very much he has played differently since that point in his life, and I state unequivocally that there are compositions he created in his mid to late teens that appear as far into his career as the Eclipse album. To my ear the issue is more the quality of his playing related to musicality not technique. He plays differently, as though he doesn’t value space between phrases-That is not how he played before. He has had some decent flashes on Fire and Ice, Facing The Animal, Alchemy, War To End All Wars, the G3 and Generation Axe appearances, and the two albums featuring the Concerto. If anything, I wish he had quit rock and pursued creating a larger repertoire for Electric Guitar in an Orchestral setting as I think he had more to give in that area. Like him, I don’t really care about his pursuit of a wider audience. Nobody gets pissy about Guthrie Govan remaining an artist for a select audience! Even Vai, for what commercial success and recognition he has had with DLR, Whitesnake, and the Jack Butler role in Crossroads, mostly maintains his artsy niche status and crowd for his solo work-When was the last time you called him out to change who he is to reach a mainstream audience??? And look who he started his professional career with-Frank Zappa!! You want to talk about a musician who literally gave zero fucks about what anyone else thought about the music he made, let alone whether the audience that did buy it actually liked it….Yngwie tried to have his commercial moments with Odyssey probably being his best written and promoted effort post-Alcatrazz, but for whatever reasons he couldn’t quite get the broader notoriety he sought at the time, so he seems to have made a business decision for better or worse to continue pursuing a nearly one-man band set up. Anyway, to each his own opinion…YJM is still going to march to the sound of his own drum machine!
Yngwie forever one again and again ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Singers off pitch
It's a shame he didn't mature 'musically' - instead we have a 'race to ludicrous speed' caricature comedian.
More is More
