Hearing your views on Domain Authority was a vindication of my long held view that DA is irrelevant to rankings in SEO. I have given many interviews over last 10 years for different SEO positions and almost every interviewer did not like my rejection of DA as a ranking factor. I could show them the website of DA 20 or so but ranking far better than those with a DA of 40 or 50, but even then these people did not move away from stereotyped thoughts. Interestingly, i have landed jobs in those companies where they did not know much about SEO and this helped me craft SEO from scratch over a period of usually 1 or 1.5 years. I can't thank you enough Neil for your efforts and valuable information. Despite checking some of your videos, I didn't see any videos tackling issues with Google Search Console. Actually, yesterday I tried to clean URLs of my posts for a good-looking in search results since short URLs convert well. When I changed the URL and submit an indexing request to Google Console, It did show up on the SERPS, but the old URL still shows up, I'm afraid Google understand that as a duplicate content. If you please can suggest me a way to remove the old URL from the SERPs permanently.
Thanks for the tips, #1 tips really reminded me year ago when I started practicing SEO on my site, I couldn't help but to check my Google Search Console every single day! Being overly obsessed about it doesn't help, that obsession could've been better spent on actually working on your content and its quality. Also, UberSuggest is truly a godsend tool!
It's always a huge red flag when I meet with a potential SEO client and they obsess over backlinks - especially when I find that they have almost no quality content on their website to start with.
I've seen that with many clients. They all think having hundreds of thousands of backlinks is the answer. But it's all about quality! Quality of backlinks, quality of content. Not quantity.
I partly disagree on tip 2. I'm not saying, you should rely solely on making sure you hit the keyword density target, and spend hours on it. But when I make even slight text adjustments to my customers websites, and measure their rankings for the search term one month later, their number of clicks and average positions have improved significantly; sometimes by over 75%.
I'm not saying, don't focus on keywords at all. But I've sen with a lot of clients in the past that they tend to over focus on it, and even keyword stuff. Readability takes precedence.
Great advice. My site is doing reasonably with 6 to 8 pages ranking p1 then a few p2 p3 then some are not even visible. Its a learning process. Thanks again :)
Hi @Nieil Patel You are so bang on. I used your UbberSuggest tool to look up keywords on horizontal ridges on finger nails. I used the ones that made sense and created a youtube video and a blog. The TH-cam video has 18K views over the past year (which, I know is nothing), but I am still getting comments on the video to this day and people have reached out to work with me. On my blog, the platform I use does not allow for meta tags or keywords description ect and I have traffic to this day to this particular blog.. thank you for your great advice! One question I do have, on your site do you use a blog platform or is each article its own separate page? Thank you!

Okay Neil- first you said you check your Google rankings in Google analytics once a week but then immediately you said you might check your Google analytics once a day. So which is more appropriate- do you think? I normally check Google analytics on Monday and then again on Friday
It depends why your checking it. When you'e checking it to see your rankings daily, you're going to go crazy because rankings often fluctuate so looking at it once or twice a week will give you a better idea of your actual ranking.
Beil, what are your thoughts on link round ups, since they are about getting blogs to link to you, how valuable are they really since they are most likely no-follow links?

Hi Neil when you say quality over quantity--what if there are no buyer keywords available to rank? Sometimes there is no choice but to target informational keywords then once you rank for those keywords you can target the buyer keywords
You don't spend time on keywords and tags because you already have millions of views. (Same with Jeff) For a beginner site, this is not the best advice. (Although, of course, writing while thinking about the person is a must in any case)
Neil, Google sent out a notice last year that told site owners that their responsive (ie mobile friendly site) would only be eligible for mobile searches. Something like that. Do you know what I'm referencing? And that those with desktop only websites will stay as is. So does 5 even matter really?
Neil Patel I guess I didn't ask that correctly. They made it sound like it didn't matter. If your site is desktop then you will only be searched as such and if your site is responsive you'll be searched as mobile only.

Yes I think this could definitely be a good model, but every audience is different. This is why it's important to test different approaches to see where you find success :)
Same way you would do KW research for any other site. There isn't any difference for ecommerce with kw. Just make sure you find out what the competitors are ranking for and, in general, that you are finding those phrases that people are actually searching for

Neil I have found an issue with ubersuggest. Everytime I visit ubersuggest, it asks me to log in and it does not save my login(like TH-cam does). At times this is kinda annoying and it even throws like 2 captchas everytime I visit your website. It would be nice if ubersuggest could save my login and I don't have to log in and solve 2 captchas each and every time i log into ubersuggest.

Why are the buyer keywords available only after you target the informational keywords, friend? They should always be available.

Yes, because mobile is quickly growing online. If your site isn't optimized for mobile, you're missing tons of opportunity and potential traffic.

Structured Markup helps Google when crawling your site. It helps you rank for things like the featured snippet and voice search :)

You don't have to make content daily! Just a few times a week :) You can also hire a content team/writer to help you out.
