Glad you picked up on the top rim of the glasses being high. It is a pet peeve of mine and most people don't consider this when buying. More important for road riding.
Castelli Perfetto short sleeve jersey. Wear it most of the year round in the UK. just over a base layer it's like a jersey but over a jersey and paired with some arm warmers is like a jacket. Also pretty waterproof and good fit.
Ollie, nice little review of kit, but lets be honest, the most versatile kit are arm warmers! For cool San Francisco morning rides, I never leave home without them!!! Perfect for cool mornings, pull them down on a climb, and pull them up on the descent. And when it gets warmer, stuff them in the rear pocket! As long as they stay up and not too tight, they're good!
My favourite bit of kit has got to be my GripGrab classic knee warmers. There's nothing fancy about them, and that's what makes them so good! They're plenty warm enough, block the wind, stay in place brilliantly and even though it's not a listed feature, they're water resistant enough to handle bit of light rain!
My favourite bit of kit is my castelli perfetto convertible because i think it’s really a jersey/jacket that while living in Ireland I can wear every single day of the year and it’s just a legend of a top
Favorite item, so far, is the Sportful Fiandre Light Wind Jersey. It's a bit more of a jacket, than a jersey, though close fitting as you move. Sometimes I need to block the wind more than I need a thermal lining, and this fits my needs for several months each year.
My favourite bit of kit has to be my endura gillet.one of the first items of clothing i bought when i started cycling and its still going strong.keeps me warm but not to hot, never like wearing coats for this reason.pockets are a great size and can carry everything you want in them, so no need for a saddle bag.good price for such a well made, long lasting piece of kit
My favourite bit of kit is my long sleeved Rapha Brevet jersey, in coral. The merino material is super-comfortable, it's light enough that when worn on its own it's good for Spring & Autumn rides here in the UK, yet warm enough that with a nice snug base layer, it covers most UK Winter rides. The Brevet design has loads of storage in the rear projects for food & plenty of spare tubes for our lovely pot-holed roads. And finally the coral colour is a really stunning one, high-visibility without being a "hi-viz" item, really cool.
Favorite kit: Castelli Perfetto Vest. Great piece of layering kit to get through the shoulder seasons, and even into some harder effort winter rides. Looks good, feels good, and doesn't drag in the wind.
My Sidi entry level road shoes. 10 years of abuse and not one stitch has come off. Wearing parts are replaceable. In the current world of fashionable disposable (non replaceable parts) £150 shoes. Mine were £60, they look good and fit like socks.
My favourite bit of kit are the morvelo series socks as for years I have struggled with getting extremely warm feet (even in the depths of winter) and these have aloud my feet to keep cool in temperatures ranging from 0 degrees up to 40 degrees whilst climbing up mt teide. definitely the best pair of socks I have ever owned!
Favourite kit currently: SeeSense Icon rear light. Bright but not blinding, the flash pattern reacts to your speed, the road surface, how close the car behind is. I wasn't too sure about daytime running of lights as well as in the dark, but through the gloom of the Peak District winter it's been on every day. Anything that makes me feel safer on roads is a winner in my book ;) Also, the battery charge lasts ages...at least a month of daily rides.... bingo! Rubbish at putting salt on me chips mind....
Altura retro look knitted gloves. Super cheap at wiggle, the comfort in the palms is uniform, good everywhere. I even use these on my mountain bike. The knit is cool on the back of the hand so perfect for hot weather and a bit of retro tantastic, what's not to love?
My favourite bit of kit is my Torm HT2 head tube (neck warmer). The tube is long enough to pull up to my helmet adjuster on the back and over my nose for descending without leaving gaps around the jersey/jacket neck but has enough 'rigidity' to be push down and remain open at the top on climbs to aid temperature control. It keeps the wind completely out when up and as a degree of water repellency too. Im 6'4" so have a fair bit of neck to keep warm and It's available in my club colours (FVC black and pink) as well which is a bonus.
My favourite pieces of kit are my Castelli Toe Thingy's. I wear them pretty much through all of Autumn and spring, with the odd milder winter day thrown in as well. They look cool and jazz up my pretty mediocre cycling shoes, plus they are a great talking point during the cafe stop. oh and they are fairly cheap too.
My favourite bit of kit is my Tiger Socks. They're purple and they have Tigers on them (roaring) and I wear them for ever race (and sometimes if I suspect a training spin is going to be particularly ferocious). I think they're from H & M
Best bit of kit for me are Castelli Nanoflex arm warmers as they turn a short sleeve Gabba in to a long sleeve one, or fit nicely under a long sleeve jersey for extra warmth and rain protection. Plus they never slide down or bunch up. Good for -2 to +15 degrees in my experience.
My favourite piece of kit is Castelli gabba 3 short sleeve. Very nice and tight fit and with Castelli nanoflex arm warmers very convertible. Also La passione products are very cool looking, pretty cheap if you compare them to Castelli, Rapha etc. And ofc they are made in Italy.
Well I would agree that the Oakley sunglasses brand cannot be out done by anyone. Would still be wearing mine if I hadn't lost them. My castelli bib shorts where amazing until I crashed. But by far my favorite(s) would be my sugoi jerseys (long and short sleeve) for thier durability. I've had them so long that they need replacing.
I concur on the giro empires. I love mine. I wish I could afford a pair of the MTB version. My favourite bit of kit is my old MOLTENI cycling cap. No matter, what i'm wearing or how i'm riding it makes me feel better and cooler than I really am.
Thanks for showing us nine of your favorite things, Ollie. I look forward to seeing more and those shoes do look good, nice they can be cleaned up easily and I would rather have laces than dials.
Hi Ollie, My fav bit of kit, is the bit of kit im saving up for, which only gets used on the sunniest of days, which makes me feel, for about 10 seconds, like im a pro. But i never use because im too frightened to! I'll keep using alu winter bike with Tourney STIs and my Preeno overshoes from 1986.
My favorite jacket: Assos bonka.cento profblack, fav bibs: milleTights.s7, fav base layer: Assos winter or spring/fall, gloves: Assos Bonka gloves. Quite expensive all together , but you forget about that when you can ride 2 to 3 hours in 3°C without feeling cold!
my favorite piece of kit i have to say my gore tex shakedry jacket, this jacket is amazing, so light fully waterproof and windproof. my second favorite my castelli perfetto, great jacket !
Great vlog!! - and great honest topic which normally is hard to hear advice from you Pros (journalist) My fav bit of kit is my oakleys jawbreakers road specific lenses. - I never believed in oakleys but once I tried them, they are like night vision googles for a swat team.
My Oakley jawbreaker glasses.Vision and bad weather visibility resembles more of a ski goggle. Don't see the frames even when looking upwards from the drops. Light. Adjustable. Easy to replace lenses. I would say best ever cycling glass design. Put them on and forget them.
My favorite piece of kit is the Pactimo mako tri short. It is one of the best fitting shorts/bibs I have tried. plus the thin chamois gives a ton of cushioning for very little weight and bulk.
Favourite piece of kit is actually a little handmade leather card holder I have that I use as my id/ cash wallet for ridding. It’s always nice to pull out a bit of old school class at a cafe stop and the leather gets better the more it wears. It was made locally here in Aus by chocolatebrowieleather
I’ve never had a problem with my garmin heart rate strap and I put it in the wash once a week after my ride on a Sunday. I obviously take the little receiver node thing off. Had just under a year.
My favourite piece of kit is my Ale spring autumn long sleeve Jersey in bright yellow and orange. The fit is fantastic and the quality of the fabric and finishing superior to anything else I own.
I've been using a Giro Synthe MIPS helmet and my problem is it's TOO comfortable. One morning I went out for a ride and after a couple of miles something didn't seem quite right. Checking, I eventually discovered I hadn't put my helmet on! The Synthe is so comfortable I forget I'm wearing it (or not). Maybe I should stick a nail in it so it sticks into my scalp to remind me it's there? As for a pump, Lezyne makes lightweight water bottle cages that incorporate a holder for a pump. That way you definitely won't feel it at all (especially if you crash and somehow land on your back), and you have more space in your jersey pockets.
Your helmet comment gave me a good giggle!! I have one too and one of the reasons I got it was so I could secure my Oakley Jawbreakers like the pro's do. It's crap though. I tried turning the glasses upside down too but it's really not very secure. I wonder if the MIPS shell has something to do with it.
Those glasses perches seem useless to me unless you have a sunglasses sponsor or prefer cheap sunglasses. Myself, I need glasses to see where I'm going (no way I'll forget to put them on!). Too much astigmatism for contacts. The glasses have to be on me, not on the helmet. To avoid having to bring more than one pair of glasses, I got Transitions progressive prescription lenses in Ray-Ban frames. One of those things that are so outrageously expensive that you have to erase the cost from your memory. No way I would put them on helmet perches even if I could navigate without them.
Cool stuff Ollie, and thanks for sharing the depth of info on your choices! Now consider that most working class mortals can't afford to roll in £1K plus worth of kit, and that many who could afford it choose lower cost options (baffling to the cycling industry amiright?). With that in mind, how about a vid like this featuring kit at half the price of the fine examples shown here. Remember not to confuse lower cost with "for beginners only." Kit doesn't have to carry a luxury price tag to be technically excellent.
The Gore One won't fit my Scandinavian shoulders, but the 1985 model fits me like a glove. It's more expensive, but I try to convince myself it's worth it.
Zwift is my favorit kit item for this time of year. Best way to keep up your cycling fitness without ruining your bike on winter roads after the saltshakers of the city have been at them.
Great share O! Thanks. What about the crackin cool black - high collar zip up sweater you’re wearing (before you show the Pearl Izumi base layer), where might we find one of those?
Micheline inner tubes. The only brand that sustains my turbo trainer punishment. All other respectable brands have failed. Reason I believe is that they are produce with no seams. Other brands lasted 90km. Micheline's 600km and counting. Yes I use a turbo specific tyre and have tested them all at the same tyre pressure.
Great mini reviews, without sounding like a bunch of ads. Good to get a personal perspective. That Gore 1 is crazy difficult to justify, but I want one. Does it breath or do you sweat like in a sauna?
Rixter cheers man. That’s the other thing about the gore I forgot to mention! The breathability is excellent. Far better than lots of the bin bag capes on the market.
That explains it a bit then. I couldnt understand what was justifying the price, there's loads of compact waterproof layers that are "really" watterproof but as Rixter said, sauna-mode on every hill
I tried the 1985 model on a quite warm but rainy day with plenty of climbing to do. It breathes like nothing else, but the best part was the double zipper. When you enter sauna-mode, but it's still raining, just zip the bottom zip up, and you let the steam out without letting the rain in.
I have worn Poc shades a lot. I like the way they look and the lens has good clarity, however the frame ergonomics aren't as good as Oakley for me. They moved on my face more. The Oakley Prizm road lens works very well too. I really rate the Bollé optics, but much prefer the Oakley frames. As an all round package, Oakley's are the winner in my opinion. instagram.com/p/BFyauG0Heh8/?hl=en&taken-by=dr_oliverb
I’ve had one for a couple years now and I like everything about it except that there’s way too much ventilation in the arms - making it too chilly for Sub 50 degree rides. End up wearing arm warmers under it which seems silly for a jacket. Curious as to what you think.
Diego Spinazzi cheers! It’s impossible to generalize as it varies quite a bit from item to item. I would say both are good and both companies offer free repairs. My advice would be to try some on and see which fits you best.
Mostly for the ladies, probably. Sports bras that you clip your heart rate monitor to. An antidote to jiggly boobs + straps = painful chaffage. Salomon/movesense and shock absorber both make them. The salomon version is my sports bra of choice regardless of this neat feature, very comfortable.
Honestly, I don't like my ASSOS T.Mille S7, the pad seems dig in to my buttocks! I bought a pair because everyone liked them, but if u really think those are comfortable try the RedWhite Bibs it's ALOT more comfortable!
omeone please advice me, I am trying to get my first full suspension mountain bike specifically Trail. I currently own a hardtail cross bike with SR Suntour XCM forks. Pretty shitty, freezes as soon as it's 5 degree centigrade. Can't even handle street bumps and curbs to save it's life. My road bike damps way better than this crap Just a pile of shit. I want to try a used full suspension MTB only so, please don't try to talk me into trying hardtail first because, I'm simply not interested. Plus, I am not ready to buy a new one since I can't tell if I would like the entire thing. I am eyeing this one for around 400-500 USD.. I think it's about 10 or more years old. What do yall think about this decision? The ones I have been eyeing (Bulls Copperhead), have pretty goodlooking forks from Suntour Raidon and the old XT. The other one had Rockshox Tora 302. Please help, I don't want to regret buying the wrong components. I know how to check for cracks and worm parts but, I don't have experience in selecting the right components because of the vast option to choose from.
Glad you picked up on the top rim of the glasses being high. It is a pet peeve of mine and most people don't consider this when buying. More important for road riding.
Best piece of kit is my short sleeve gabba, used with nanoflex arm warmers in the winter. Helped me to keep cycling in the wet and colder days.
Castelli Perfetto short sleeve jersey. Wear it most of the year round in the UK. just over a base layer it's like a jersey but over a jersey and paired with some arm warmers is like a jacket. Also pretty waterproof and good fit.
Favorite piece of kit: Tifosi Davos sunglasses.
Light, comfortable, and large enough to hide my mid-bonk tears.
Sweet ii
Ollie, nice little review of kit, but lets be honest, the most versatile kit are arm warmers! For cool San Francisco morning rides, I never leave home without them!!! Good shout... I agree, bangin bit of kit.
Captain_Element - or Gabba with arm warmers, year round
Favorite item, so far, is the Sportful Fiandre Light Wind Jersey. It's a bit more of a jacket, than a jersey, though close fitting as you move. Sometimes I need to block the wind more than I need a thermal lining, and this fits my needs for several months each year.

Agree about the Pearl Izumi base layer. Outstanding warmth (but never suffocating) and dry comfort.
My favourite bit of kit that I never leave the house without is that £10 note for the cafe stop! 😂
totally true, i fold 10€ and hide it under my phone cover! Always works for times some places doesnt take card.

Prescription Oakley Radar glasses. I used to ride in non-prescription glasses, so putting them on was a revelation, it is now like riding in hi-def.
I also need that. Is it expensive ?
jasper renema in a word, yes. At fashioneyewear.co.uk there’s often discount codes, but they’re still about £300!
Im 6'4" so have a fair bit of neck to keep warm and It's available in my club colours (FVC black and pink) as well which is a bonus.
This was surprisingly no-nonsense and useful, and I didn't feel like I was being sold something. I enjoyed this immensely!

I love my topek ninja pump. Sits in my seat tube, out the way and always on me. Brilliant
Thanks for showing us nine of your favorite things, Ollie. I look forward to seeing more and those shoes do look good, nice they can be cleaned up easily and I would rather have laces than dials.
Gabba. Only should have bought the convertible one, but it's good from -5 till +15. So for 7 months riding
My favourite bit of kit is my Sidi Wire Carbon Vernice Road Shoes - great fit and my ankles lock into the heals.
Hi Ollie, My fav bit of kit, is the bit of kit im saving up for, which only gets used on the sunniest of days, which makes me feel, for about 10 seconds, like im a pro. But i never use because im too frightened to! I'll keep using alu winter bike with Tourney STIs and my Preeno overshoes from 1986.

instablaster.
LOVE the pro team aero jersey. I picked up the exact one Ollie is wearing in this video for £65! So happy with it.
Howwwww?
Black Friday deal + industry purchase programme discount!
My Oakley jawbreaker glasses.Vision and bad weather visibility resembles more of a ski goggle. Don't see the frames even when looking upwards from the drops. Light. Adjustable. Easy to replace lenses. I would say best ever cycling glass design. Put them on and forget them.
the garmin 935 tri bundle most versatile gadget i've ever had! from bike computer to casual watch it does it all
My favorite piece of kit is the Pactimo mako tri short. It is one of the best fitting shorts/bibs I have tried. plus the thin chamois gives a ton of cushioning for very little weight and bulk.

Favourite bit of kit: the Rapha pink pro team socks, let’s me claim to the Mrs that I’m in touch with my feminine side.
Hearing your voice ease me into a nice slumber. Tq
My power meter, because it consistently reminds me that I'm not quite at the level I think I am!
I’ve never had a problem with my garmin heart rate strap and I put it in the wash once a week after my ride on a Sunday. I obviously take the little receiver node thing off. Had just under a year.
Favourite bit of kit is my pencil case because it makes it easy to store the things I may need and quickly stowed in my jersey pocket.
My favourite piece of kit is my Ale spring autumn long sleeve Jersey in bright yellow and orange. The fit is fantastic and the quality of the fabric and finishing superior to anything else I own.
My favourite bit of kit is castelli velocissimo bib tights really nice and comfortable feel to them they're my go too leggings in the winter months
love it! can't wait to grab those new version of rapha aero jerseys that cost more than my wheelsets!
I've been using a Giro Synthe MIPS helmet and my problem is it's TOO comfortable. One morning I went out for a ride and after a couple of miles something didn't seem quite right. As for a pump, Lezyne makes lightweight water bottle cages that incorporate a holder for a pump. That way you definitely won't feel it at all (especially if you crash and somehow land on your back), and you have more space in your jersey pockets.
Paul Flory - Castelli does a saddle bag with a mesh underside that’ll hold a mini pump securely. There are others that are similar too.

I've had that pump pull my core out with it.nightmare.
Always make sure my spare tube cores are done up tight now.also carry a core remover now.
Thanks for the feedback.. I will be doing one about components, so i have a few ideas about what i can include.
Oliver Bridgewood Top lad. It's a huge credit to you and Cycling Weekly that your ears are open. Loving the series.
My favorite kit is the Bioracer Race shorts! Most comfortable shorts that I've ever worn and not too expensive!
This time of year it has to be my northwave winter shoes as they get me out in all condition and I don’t have to spend ages trying to get overshoes on
The Gore One won't fit my Scandinavian shoulders, but the 1985 model fits me like a glove.
It's more expensive, but I try to convince myself it's worth it.
Zwift is my favorit kit item for this time of year. Best way to keep up your cycling fitness without ruining your bike on winter roads after the saltshakers of the city have been at them.
Fav piece of kit: my bike! It's all about the bike! BMC GF02 :)
That’s why I use the black laces in my Empires...
My custom Oakley Radarlock Glasses because as we all know, custom is simply faster.
Great share O! Thanks. What about the crackin cool black - high collar zip up sweater you’re wearing (before you show the Pearl Izumi base layer), where might we find one of those?
It's an Assos Habu Mille jacket combined with a black merino Rapha Winter Collar.
Assos winter skinfoil, keeps me warm on those cold winter days.
Oliver Bridgewood you're basically telling I should forget about being reasonable and just go and buy the damn jacket. Thanks a lot
I tried the 1985 model on a quite warm but rainy day with plenty of climbing to do.
It breathes like nothing else, but the best part was the double zipper.
When you enter sauna-mode, but it's still raining, just zip the bottom zip up, and you let the steam out without letting the rain in.
EV's and Synthe lid are a great combo!
my favorite bit of kit is my wahoo elmnt bolt. does everything i need it to do, the maps are free and it is cheaper than the garmins.
Hi Ollie, have you tried the Bell Zephyr helmet and if so how do you think that it compares to the Giro Synthe?
Ever tested 100% glasses? They have high top-frames as well. I've got some f100%'s atm (like Foakleys) and seem decent so far
My Pactimo Thermal RT long sleeve jersey, followed by my Specialized winter boots..
I got 3 flies in my eyes on a 10 mile ride the other day, need to get some glasses
Olie before GCN, love this guy!
How durable is the rapha aero jersey, my NoPinz one set scratched easily and I Wash them in a pillow case.
Best bit of kit is my bike, ain't going very far without it!!
Rapha Brevet vest, because I can commute with bright pink reflective stripes without looking like I mugged a construction worker.
I love that gilet, but i just wish it had pockets.... instagram.com/p/BbKfX19DYMw/?hl=en&taken-by=dr_oliverb
These days my favorite piece of kit are neoprene gloves, keep hands warm and dry when weather is miserable...
Thanks fo the great vlog. What are your thoughts on Rapha vs Nalini? I buying a new kit soon. Thanks
Good vlog how do you rate the oakleys v poc lenses I've been told the poc are better? I would value your opinion ?
I have worn Poc shades a lot. I like the way they look and the lens has good clarity, however the frame ergonomics aren't as good as Oakley for me. They moved on my face more. The Oakley Prizm road lens works very well too. I really rate the Bollé optics, but much prefer the Oakley frames. As an all round package, Oakley's are the winner in my opinion. instagram.com/p/BFyauG0Heh8/?hl=en&taken-by=dr_oliverb
My favourite peace of kit is my #N1LB ruby winter jerseys. Amazing peace of kit
What about that Assos Habu jacket you were wearing?
I've not had it long, so i want to try it out more before finalising opinions. So far, so good though.
I’ve had one for a couple years now and I like everything about it except that there’s way too much ventilation in the arms - making it too chilly for Sub 50 degree rides. End up wearing arm warmers under it which seems silly for a jacket. Curious as to what you think.
Hi Ollie!! Great video!! Which do you rate the best for durability: Rapha or Assos clothing?
Diego Spinazzi cheers! It’s impossible to generalize as it varies quite a bit from item to item. I would say both are good and both companies offer free repairs. My advice would be to try some on and see which fits you best.
Honest reviews I concur
What’s the zip jersey you’re sporting in the midst of your reviews ?
Liam Shaughnessy not sure which you mean. At what point in the video?
Oliver Bridgewood 15:30 ie. I wear the same shades ..love Oakley
Oliver Bridgewood the zip jersey when you’re describing the Oakley mate
Liam Shaughnessy it’s an Assos Habu 5 jacket 👍🏼
Oliver Bridgewood Assos awesome quality still have my winter kit from 15 years plus
Fav kit are Castelli speed suits just amazing
Great video! Could you do a 2020 video?
Of course, these would be everyone's favorite kit...
But the regular Joe has a bike worth half of the summed cost of these gears.
My favourite gcn host! ☺️
Road speedsuits? I don't wear bibs and jerseys anymore...
Great wrist action 😂
come on, assos is not just expensive! it is, bloody, phenomenally expensive )))))
I bought an Assos Jingo helmet, shocking fit it's going on eBay.
is it possible to use power glasses with oakley?
Cracking video this, thanks for sharing!
Honestly, I don't like my ASSOS T.Mille S7, the pad seems dig in to my buttocks! I bought a pair because everyone liked them, but if u really think those are comfortable try the RedWhite Bibs it's ALOT more comfortable!
Normally this means that you purchased a size too large.
Richard Todd not really, it's the size they recommend after the guide, and the legs fit perfectly.
My Endura pro sl jersey.... Fantastic
What size is your base layer?
small
Best bit of kit my chamois cream for reasons I won’t say? 😉😳
White shoes? In winter?
I wear covers!
Are you pleased to see me, or is that a Topeak mini pump in your pocket?
I like oakley sunglasses but I don't like the price.
Are those red coloured Oakley lenses or fir anyone?
omeone please advice me, I am trying to get my first full suspension mountain bike specifically Trail.
Old school Oakley M-frames
He was funnier and more natural when at cycling than now at Gcn.
