Don't know if this was ever cleared up, but port is the left side of the ship, and starboard is the right. The front is called the bow (like "bow before me"), and the back the stern. And the mast is the vertical beam that the sails are attached to. The more you know, right?
I’ve also heard the front called the ‘prow.’ Is that also right?

After the last Super Mario 64 Simpleflips hack video, I’m very glad this one is family-friendly as it doesn’t have any dark story, just insane platforming challenge.

For anyone who's curious, the ground pound the sign bit began because he was stuck in a rom hack and someone in chat suggested ground pounding the sign; simple flips, knowing how Mario 64 works, made fun of them for thinking that that would do anything. Over the course of the next one or two competitions, people kept calling back to it by using custom code to make ground pounding the sign do various things
Thinking about it, that might make a pretty decent "curb your enthusiasm" meme

I'm pretty sure the 'ground-pound the sign' meme came from a troll hack Simple played where he had no idea what to do and a viewer suggested he ground pound the nearby sign. He never did, and since, multiple ROM hacks have forced him to ground-pound signs to advance the plot or otherwise cause something to happen.
Notable examples include:
- ground-pounding Bill Board to defeat him after he became an all powerful Omega Flowey spoof (it _was_ an Undertale-inspired ROM hack)
- ground-pounding a sign in the bonus room of a Minesweeper ROM hack to make a nearby toad's face cycle through all of the faces on Simple's limited-edition BUP cube
- a sign that locks Mario in GBJ when ground-pounded by forcing him to ground-pound it over and over for all eternity
- an entire ROM hack where Mario goes on trial for assaulting sign-kind
Chris and dgr are probably my personal favorite pair xD also that dgr thinks Chris will not throw him under the bus by this point is almost as entertaining as the video lol

Hello there DGR. This is how i think The Green Demon came into existence in the Mushroon Kingdom:
In this game, the Poison Mushroom from SMB2-J/ Lost Levels got so pissed off that it needed to get revenge on Mario for avoiding it back then so it disguised itself as your typical 1-Up mushroom to exact its revenge on Mario and started to chase him around TO FINALLY END HIS LIFE ONCE AND FOR ALL. THAT is what I think how The Green Demon came into existence in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Oh and the last level track is from Sonic and Knuckles and the Zone it is from is Lava Reef. It is actually the Act 1 track from that Zone.

if you are standing on the middle of a boat looking at the front, the bow is the front, left is port side, right is starboard side, and the back is called the aft or stern. this is insider information as i've worked on a lobster fishing vessel in the canadian atlantic coast for the last ten years!

So I'm trying to figure out where the first stage music comes from. It heavily reminds me of Harvest Moon 64, but I don't think it's actually Harvest Moon 64.

Props to the maker of this hack - the music for especially the first stage is amazing, recreations of great music from more recent games.
The music in the first level reminded me greatly of harvest moon 64.

Can’t you do these in the original game as well? People do this in I think levels like Bobomb battlefield and I think shifting sand land. Don’t you just have to find which one up follows you once you activate it, then you have to find all the red coins and get the star before the touching you :-)
