Lots of people are suprised by the fact that the nickname "Baby Boy" that Deadpool uses for Spider-Man in almost all Spideypool fics is canon, and came from the comics. It even predates the ship going mainstream, so it wasn't even fanservice.
The idea of an Akumatized Chat Noir being a color inversion named "Chat Blanc" was very popular in the Miraculous Ladybug fandom in the early days. Imagine our surprise when Chat Noir canonically gets akumatized into Chat Blanc-
Tbh, personally, there are whole episodes of Miraculous that feel like fanfic, not that I’m not complaining, lolol 😂. My ships usually don’t have very much content, so when I entered the fandom, it was like fandom Christmas 😆
Literally the entire Ninjago movie. Highschool AU, very out of character, Lloyd’s daddy issues Edit: it’s technically not canon more of official fanfiction
I would've liked it better if Jay, Kai, Zane and Nya actually had character arcs and were at all relevant to the movie beyond their inclusion. I liked it better than LEGO Batman personally, but the way nobody but Lloyd and his family mattered was really disappointing.
Disney animated Cinderella 3 like it’s a time travel plot that makes the villain more threatening, gives a stepsister a redemption arc, the prince a personality and so determined to save his love that he jumps out a window, and makes Ella take her happily ever after without any help from a fairy godmother. Also the other stepsister gets turned into comedy relief. At the end they don’t go back to their original times and tbh it’s for the better. While on the topic of disney products i will also say them hitting me with a time travel plot at the end of s3 of Once Upon a Time to make it so that the mc was always part of the fairytales and the side characters’ histories while also doing a whole ballroom scene with her love interest is straight out of a fanfic IM writing
And then Doof proceeded to be the best character in the show. Like, I'm not kidding. This man finished his own show on a high, cameoed in a spin-off, straight up hijacked it, and then proceeded to be the best character in this one too. That's insane.
Something that happens a lot with Ace Attorney is when you think that the fandom is exaggerating how gay Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth's interactions are, and then you play the games and realize that they really are just like that. "Thanks to you, I am saddled with unnecessary feelings" is something I swear I've read in fanfiction before I played
Fun fact if you didn't already know! Not only is every game after the first inspired directly by yaoi doujinshi, but Edgeworth is only Phoenix's young, hot childhood friend because they got a yaoi author to help with the character concepts!
When talking about Good Omens everyone mentions season 2 but season 1 had that one scene where Aziraphale yelled at Crowley to “do something or I’ll” and for a second it looks like he’s going to threaten him with his sword but instead he goes “or I’ll never talk to you again” in the softest voice and Crowley just immediately… stops time itself?? By sheer willpower??? Power by love??? That was some straight up Ao3 cheese, how do you write that into your script and not have the characters kiss by the end?
Yesss! And the "you go too fast for me" when Crowley offers to drive him somewhere. Both those bits got me. Like season one is at the very least "enemies" to friends and almost to lovers.
4:44 As one comment on a Bruce/Clark frame said once: "Straight writers will write the most homosexual lines ever and never realise how it can be interpreted." The line from Supes was something like: "That growly, throaty voice. It always makes me feel safe to hear it again."
But have you read the comic where they stay up all night together watching tentacle aliens fuck? Or the one where Bruce genetically engineers a Rose in Superman’s colors? Or the one where we find out Bruce has been secretly learning Kryptonian?
I've always had mostly guy friends, with all sorts of orientations, and I gotta say nobody acts as gay as two straight best friends. My gayest openly gay friend acts less gay than two straight best friends.
i love that supernatural is mentioned here twice, and neither times does it mention the scooby doo crossover episode, where a ghost sucks them into the tv, the winchesters reveal to the mystery gang that ghosts are in fact real, and they all start having a mental breakdown complete with daphne questioning which afterlife she'll end up in. also, velma kisses sam at the end of the episode. also, to add on to destiel: they coparent a child in the last couple of seasons... like i'm not even exaggerating, jack literally refers to them both as being his parents, and they both refer to him as being their kid/son
SPN FAN! Anyways... Finally someone that mentions the Scooby Doo episode! Yes, it's sounds like a fanfic, and yes, idk how the authors manage to do that- and why... but I'm just gonna enjoy it. Btw, Jack calling Cas and Dean his parents just added more to the Destiel ship, so, the authors didn't had any choice (And the fan-fic theatre episode also added much more support to the ship, even giving it his ship name so... yea)
Jack calls Sam his dad too, he literally calls himself a Winchester while also being referred to as the son of Lucifer, so idk why it’s a Destiel thing when it’s not
ESPECIALLY the honda oddessy scene and peter 3 telling 1 and 2 he loved them. Plus just all the references to previous movies and comics make it feel like fanfic
That's why I love No Way Home, especially when the Spider-Man trio are just chilling and say stuff like "Running out of webs suck. It's cool you create that stuff in you." or "Man the villains we fight and their backstories are so weird." It's emphasized that Peter Parker is just a fun guy no matter what universe he's from.
I love how many of these are ‘the writer committed to a canon queer relationship that was strongly built up throughout the series with tons of chemistry between the characters’. people are really so used to queerbaiting and gay undertones that the writer actually going for it feels like fanfic
@@Bratgirly in some cases definitely. I thought good omens season 2 was quite fanfic-y (it had a very different tone from the first season) but something like the finale of she-ra felt more natural and consistent with the show’s themes and characters
@@dosabellaLumity (Luz x Amity) in The Owl House felt more natural as well. I think the creator really nailed the pacing of their relationship. The reason some people feel like it’s a fanfic is probably since it’s a Disney show, and Disney is well known for not letting things like lesbian relationships slide in their shows.
The entire Magnus Chase actually meets Percy Jackson, IN MAGNUS'S BOOKS, and they both know about each others mythology? I had to remind myself several times "This is CANON. Greek Mythology and Norse mythology are connected!"
And Alex just being there in case he dies and need dragged back to Valhalla (and totally not bc there gay af) and I swear I read multiple fan fins dated way before ship of the dead where it had the same plot lol
It's just one panel, but there's a Marvel comic where Reed sees an AU where it's confirmed Civil War wouldn't have happened if Cap and Iron Man got married. Tony is a woman in that universe, which feels like the most tacked on "no homo" ever
Ever After High has one of the best "canon fanfiction" moments: Darling Charming waking up Apple White with "true loves kiss" (or CPR as the directors tried to play it off, but there was literally a white light we all know) after she went into a cursed from a poison apple like in her destiny that she had been desperately trying to obtain but got in vain and despite the fact that she is seen as this perfect princess and the most popular girl in schlll with a perfect and destined STRAIGHT highschool romance with Daring Charming AKA Darling Charming's brother??? Peak fanfiction behavior.
The Sun and the Star is literally a canon Solangelo fanfic and I enjoyed it so much. I can’t believe I read it as an actual published book and not on AO3
Yesssssssss just yess it tells there whole story has the whole percibeth I love you while falling into Tartarus scein but yk solangelo you have Chiron walking in on the hugging in the middle of the night and thinking there making out and Dionysus just being chill the who book is basically a fix it angst to find bob and I will dye for his magisty
The ENTIRE episode of SpongeBob, "Can you spare a dime". Like so much of it feel so weird, unlike the rest of the show. Squidward quits and ends up homeless, SpongeBob invites him to move in and have his bed, squid ends up abusing him to the point of making him wear a MAID OUTFIT, "And WHY aren't you in UNIFORM?" CRAZY
I love that episode. It has my favorite SpongeBob outburst. “Listen, you crustacean cheapskate. Squidward has been living in my house, driving me crazy! AND YOU’RE NOT GONNA BRING HIM BACK OVER A STUPID DIME!!!”
@@quangamershyguyyz7166 Yes, but that's not my point. My point is that they are responsibilites. Things that require SOME level of maturity. In earlier seasons, Spongebob was goofy and naive while still being somewhat responsible, whereas in later seasons his character is completely flanderized to the point of just being dumb and childish. Honestly, this show needed to end after season 5. Even by season 5 there was starting to be a downgrade.
the whole webtoon "Batman: Wayne Family Adventures" is like fanfiction in the best way-- with the batfamily expressing emotions and showing healthy communication you could hardly even imagine possible in the main comic 😭
@@flapjack0925 Well not really. It was an alternate reality that Prismo made and he needed to hide it so he put it in Ice Kings head, so while Ice King *thought* it was his fanfic, it was actually real.
Was hoping someone would say this so I wouldn’t have to un-trauma block those memories and write the comment myself. Thanks, that season made me feel physically ill.
I couldn’t even finish season 4 and honestly I’m glad I didn’t. It just didn’t feel like the same show anymore, everyone was completley out of character and things just weren’t fun and interesting anymore 😢
I'm in the jekyll and hyde fandom, yes the 1886 book, and the fact the first time you see hyde is him just walking over a girl, also the line "if he be mr Hyde, then I shall be me seek"
- Both Ben 10 and Tales Of Arcadia had canonical mpreg. - there's an episode of Big Hero 6 the series were the group find and read Karmi's (Hiro's rival) self- insert fanfiction were she ships herself with Hiro's hero persona and joins the team, Hiro is horrified by this while the rest of the group is fine with and Fred who absolutely loves it. - The entirety of What If...? Is baiscally Marvel making a bunch AUs for the MCU
tbh i love that big hero six episode but i think the one where Hiro and the gang write a semi revenge fanfiction (where hiro keeps trying to "defeat" karmi in the fic until one of the other members take over the fic and starts changing the plot around) is funnier to me, Karmi is imo the funniest character in big hero six
in Beastars, whatever Legoshi and Louis have going on. they even start getting soulmate pains later on in the manga, like what? how can two characters imbody sooo many soulmate tropes and not get together. i'm not complaining but MAN
The Wednesday season 1 novelization was written by an NB writer of sapphic YA fantasy and makes it so the subtext between Wednesday and Enid is basically text because it's narrated by Wednesday and half her thoughts are about Enid. In the book, she kisses Tyler because she thinks it's what Enid wants and describes the hug at the end as "the full weight of all that has befallen me tonight finally given a safe place to land" and describes Enid covered in Hyde blood as "she's never looked more beautiful to me, more capable and strong". I know it's basically queerbaiting but I love wenclair too much to care. Also, Jac Schaeffer really got Marvel to make her found family witch yuri show and I am forever grateful 🙏
The way Jonathan and Nancy got together in Stranger Things felt so fanfic-y imo. Like Murray basically forcing them to admit their feelings to each other? There only being one bed? It was clear this relationship was always gonna happen but come on...
Honestly, the entire plot of Korra. She's this super strong, super talented, super hot woman who immediately makes friend with two hot guys, then a hot girl, and then proceeds to go on adventures where she meets the wntire cast of the previous show. It really feels like a self insert fanfictiok about ATLA lol
It even has a crappy love triangle that takes up way too much screen time and then ends with the self insert somehow getting together with the hot girl in the end even though she had previously been kissing the hot girl's boyfriend when they were still dating??
It sucks because there's a lot of good ideas, but they needed to spend way more time on some of them, remove more of the fanfic tier writing and ideas (Kaijunalaq), and commit to a more consistent narrative for it all.
I think the most modern Powderpuff girls reboot feels like it is a fan fiction. To self-inserts that a main characters falls in love with and a character being removed because they thought a character was something that the character was a subversion of, with also the removal of the character was in a way that the character wouldn’t have acted.
Bugsnax is a standalone game, but it literally feels like someone played a cute kid's game about Muppet-looking characters eating bugs made out of food to transform their bodies and went "I need to explore the dark and screwed-up implications of this." Is it possible for a game to feel like a fanfic of itself?
@@kenyastarflight my favorite part is when the game lets you throw a vat of sulfuric acid at Floofty cuz "I do want to throw things at you" (I love Floofty, they infuriate me to no end) Edit: my favorite part of the base game is the Cromdo stealth mission, funniest thing I've played through in a game.
@@xxcanthinkofanamexx1688 Oh you know, the scene where they're both drenched and soaking wet where L kneels before Light rubbing his foot while Light suppresses moans during silent eye contact, both under the light of the heavens (I am not joking)
Doctor who has MANY examples of this, but: A positive: in The Power of the Doctor there’s a therapy group for previous doctors’ companions and it’s really sweet 😭 A negative: the whole timeless child stuff just sounds like it’s something the author thought up in a fever dream while the show was off air and just decided to add it to the actual show for no reason whatsoever
The doctor floating in the air almost T posing in the series 3 finally, or just the the whole doctor Donna plot and the ending where you had every companion from nuWho up to that point help the doctor fly the TARDIS while pulling the earth.
The 2022 Doctor who specials on Disney + just being a fix it fanfic with the 14th doctor being played by Tennant again, a found family happy ending, playing fast and lose with how regeneration works, and multiple conversation of the Doctor being queer/genderfluid. And it was unironically one of the best Doctor who eras in a while.
scott pilgrim takes off -“kills off” scott and focuses on ramona -a LOT of focus on the exes themselves -just a lot of minor character focus in general -really random pairings (gideon x julie, wallace x todd) there’s other stuff but i think you get the point BTW i like spto and i almost think it fanfiction-ness is a contributor
It kinda feels like a sequel to me because it gives everyone closure. I think the Gideon Julie ship is kinda funny bc it pairs Scott’s biggest op with his other biggest op
5:00 meanwhile no fanfic writer would have made "somehow palpatine returned" a thing. There would have been a filler chap full of explanations and flashbacks, as close as possible to the sources, maybe even a whole spinoff, back in time "dead dove do not eat" style fic to make it make sense
I think most of that is because the sequel trilogy is a round-robin fic. Abrams wrote the first chapter, key elements got changed up by the co-author, and then he had to twist it back to where he was heading before. Had they come up with an actual arc, things would have played out differently.
@@PramkLuna there are so many shows that do shit like this just like completely forgetting there supposed to be children but then the company’s get super strict and shit on the smallest stuff and it makes no sense
I'm so glad that someone mentioned Star Trek, especially Pon Farr, because Amok Time essentially invented f*ck-or-die as a trope while airing on national television in the 60s, and I think about that a lot.
As a Kingdom Hearts fan, saying "it feels like a fanfic" is so accurate, I mean we got MAGIC KEYSWORDS, BUFF ANIME MEN, CLONES and TIME TRAVEL. That is scraping the surface, one of the leading theories for a game's concept creation is, " Tetsuya Nomura, The Director of the Franchise Was Drunk." I am not kidding. Also, sora is technically the love child between DONALD DUCK, AND MICKEY MOUSE, because Square Enix wanted mickey to be the protag, while Disney wanted Donald.
@ yep. His name is Cheese Sandwich, voiced by and designed to look like Weird Al. I think there are two episodes in which he is a main character. In the finale, it shows him and pinkie together as a couple.
@bananabro1010 Wait... HE'S VOICED BY WEIRD AL IN THE ORIGINAL DUB?!?!?! I only ever watched MLP in the Brazilian dub so knowing that Cheese Sandwich is supposed to be pony Weird Al is so weird but makes so much sense, what the fluff
And they have a kid named lil cheese also in the season ten comics …you just gotta see for your self flirting with puns the line “maybe our luaghs are better together “ and the amount of times they just stare lovingly into each others eyes right before walking into the sun set waist makes me wanna scream kiss
whatever house and wilson got going on in house md. you’d think the fandom is exaggerating, but no. they’re just like that. house really did delete that call from the landlord so wilson could keep living with him while ‘love makes you do crazy things’ plays in the background.
House saying “You’re sleeping with me” As he realizes Wilson’s type is just him but female. Also Wilson having to say “We aren’t,,, gay.” Like 10 times, but House always playing into it.
This makes me think about a fanfiction I read years ago in the Sofia the First fandom, where in Cedric betrays everyone and steals Sofia's amulet leading him to take over temporarily But ultimately giving it back because he realizes he lost his only friend and that taking over the kingdom meant nothing if she would never talk to him again. This Then happened in episode one of season 3 of the show and I was just like, okay I guess this episode is going to be exactly like a fanfiction I read like 4 months ago.
Cedric was the Sofia fandom's baby lmao, people were just waiting for his plot to finally go somewhere new. Speaking of shows for little girls with an adult fanbase, I'd say the episode of MLP where Discord gets reformed is this too but with absolutely no build up to it. At least Cedric was a reoccurring character who was explicitly evil for sympathetic reasons, so reforming him eventually made sense. The last time we saw Discord, he was an unrepentant jerk, took over Equestria and was sealed away again by the Mane Six, people just wanted him back because he was iconic, so there were a ton of fanfics that brought him back specifically to redeem him and surely enough, the show caved.
MANGA SPOILERS FOR MHA but it was so wild that bakugou died for izuku, got revived from his sweat, told afo his name was KACCHAN (izuku's cutesy nickname for him that he never acknowledged) and then dedicated 8 years of his life insuring that izuku could continue his dream. Like what in the fresh fanfiction hell is this
Speaking of MHA I still wish that one non canon relationship, Dragon Fruit (Deku X Yang from RWBY) was canon My man Deku deserves better as opposed to the garbage fire ending the series gave him That plus Endeavor should have gone to jail for child abuse as opposed to getting a bullshit Redemption Arc he did not need And Kachan (Fuck Him in the ass) should have been a villain character as opposed to someone your supposed to root for (I know I will never respect him at all) That plus Jiro should’ve been the main female lead instead of Ochako (Who’s such a whiny wuss) with her being the Faye Valentine of the series That plus Deku and Lemillion should have been best buds since the beginning of the series (Ala the friendship between Batman and Superman)
@@Miraphes They're not bad takes.... They are just opinions good sir. If anything....... I just hope and pray that your not one of those MHA fans who constantly has a heart attack after someone states an unpopular opinion.
Honestly The Sun and The Star (By Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro) felt really fanficcy. It felt much fluffier than i depicted Solangelo, and Solangelo in general did feel like a fanfic I still love it though
I could have dealt with it a little more angst in bits and a little more fluffy in others but the mood switches between both of these is just pike like some serious moments were played off way too goofy and some moments they could have def thrown in a good joke I find no issue when there telling their story tho bc my word it’s grate (tho arguably the most fanficy part)
@@GoblinOfPeace the story of how they got together was definitely my favourite part, but the fact that they were so… rushed? Like, I understand that Rick wanted Neeks to have a partner, but in BoO, Nico went from “Oh this dude is so annoying” to “Oh, I have butterflies in my stomach, I’m in love”

In the best way: Ghosts CBS being an American AU of Ghosts BBC. Especially where they decided to make the gay soldier ghost be from the American Revolution then gave him a crush on a British soldier.
The whole US Ghosts series feels like someone trying to tell their friends about this show they watched once, but they're getting characters and details mixed up.

The anime saiki k, a comedy has two himbo's who have really comical interactions trying to best each other at who's the best at x sport, the fact that they started dating and are seen having the freaky competing who was top and who finished last, feels like a weird one shot but it's right there in the manga
This is for all ROTTMNT fans “The Clothes Don’t make the Turtle,” which is about the boys going through an 80s movie clothing montage only to realize they’re being hypnotized after going to see a museum involving magicians. Yeah…definitely feels like fanfiction- IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE!!!! 10/10, my favorite episode, probably had the most iconic scenes in the entire show. ❤️🧡💜💙💚
SO TRUE, HI FELLOW ROTTMNT FAN! I also felt that… The Battle Nexus episode towards the end of the series was fanfictiony in a good way because it brought me all the way back to 2003 TMNT. I was hoping throughout Season 1 that we’d get some kind of Battle Nexus at some point, and lo and behold! If only we got that Season 3…
Nuzi from Murder Drones. More specifically, the scene in “The Promening” where they’re dancing AND fighting the antagonist at the same time. And the scene in “Absolute End” where they confess their feelings for each other, and the camera spins around them, and it ends with them fully embracing each other, all the while they’re both engulfed in flames.
I remember saying to my friend, “This is so romantic” when they’re trying to grab each other and immediately started cackling when they made it. The prom fight is still one of my absolute favorite animated fights, but it’s sadly in second place now.
The only time a story has felt REALLY like fanfiction for me was the first book of Percy Jackson's sequel series, Heroes of Olympus, i just couldn't get off the feeling that, these new character being thrust into the ones we're familiar, immediately getting buddy buddy without much trouble and then knowing that there's an entire new camp just felt jarring lol
Yeah, I preferred Stella in season 1. Her being revealed as Stryker's client was pretty funny and showed just how dangerously angry she was with Stolas. Later episodes completely invalidated this threat by making her outright stupid to the point where they had to introduce this random brother of hers to serve as the brains. Her now wanting Stolas' property is also really boring, it was actually more entertaining when her motivation was just pure rage over Stolas' cheating and sexuality. I don't even need her to be redeemable in any way. You want a female abuser character, fine, but dear god, let her actually be a proper antagonist.
I know EPIC The Musical is basically an Odyssey fanfiction But Odysseus using the wind bag as a JET PACK and BEATING THE SHIT OUT POSEIDON sound like came straight of a fanfic
I know some of Jay's inspirations are video games and anime, but I can't get over the jet pack. I did see one animatic make him use a piece of his raft as a surfboard though, so maybe he just got super lucky with Charybdis? Idk anymore Edited for grammar
5:32 so accurate! i'm a very huge tom hiddleston/loki fan and when ragnarok came around, it felt like such an AU bec loki was truly a "misunderstood goofy cinnamon roll" in that movie like we depict him in fanfiction. i felt taika had went through a few loki-centric tags on ao3 for that one.
@@thomasraines1396 i feel loki at his best was dark world. however that film was, probably not so great as people say- but loki in it was the best depiction of who he's supposed to be. hurt and misunderstood in his actions, not an outright villain/monster, but far, far from a saint.
theres... so much in supernatural once you get into the back half of the show (like season 8 onwards). season 9, in like episode 3 or 4, they canonise that: - Oz is real - Dorothy is real and also a hunter - The wicked witch of the west is real, and in the normal world. - L. Frank Baum was a Man of letters (nerd hunter) - the Lesbian re-occurring side character gets a crush on Dorothy, who has reappeared after being turned into goo for like 100 years, and they both go to oz together at the end of the episode. the next episode Dean drinks a potion and can talk to dogs.
@@thomasraines1396 IMO, supernatural is "genuinly good" for about 2 seasons, "bad but somewhat enjoyable" for like 4 after that, straight awful for one (season 7 is _bad_ holy shit), and then it becomes the dumbest, often worst TV you have ever seen from season 8 onwards, while still being some of the most fun you can have.
In the fnaf novel “the fourth closest” Circus Baby appears in it taking three forms, one as how she appears in the game, one as adult Charlie (oh she’s also Charlie’s adult body. who Charlie was revealed to be a robot), and a humanoid Circus Baby, who is weirdly sexualised in it and is called hot by other characters. Keep in mind she’s also possessed by Elizabeth, who’s a kindergarter 💀

Rose Quartz actually being Pink Diamond despite everything we were told before the big reveal. Edit: I'm just saying this as someone who was DEEP in the fandom at the time. After the Red Herring reveal of Rose Shattering Pink Diamond and Before the true reveal of her being Pink Diamond, you were demeaned, laughed at, and mocked by the vast majority of the fandom if you still clung onto the Rose is Pink Diamond theory. I would know, I was one of those hardcore deniers who thought anyone who believed in the theory was on crack. Boy were we wrong. It's very, very, obvious in hindsight nowadays. They clearly had this planned from the beginning and they very, very, clearly set up the foreshadowing for it. I mean, Steven had a million fucking powers, why would a regular Rose Quartz have all those powers? The fact that we were told Rose used a sword to shatter Pink yet we were also told the sword was specifically designed to NOT shatter gems. Eyeball saying that Steven's gem was a "Pinkish-red," and not a true Rose Quartz' "Reddish-Pink," The fact the MOMENT Eyeball revealed to the viewers that Rose Shattered Pink Diamond, Pearl covered her mouth and became very shaken, something that's later established as an involuntary reaction even before the big reveal. The fact that The hibiscus flower represents PD and the star on Rose's stomach resembles it. The fact that both Rose and Pink's gems are in the same place. The fact that Rose could heal gems and Eyeball implies regular Rose Quartzes cannot do that. The fact that Pearl literally never talks about Pink Diamond directly while Garnet always talked about her as if she was as ruthless as the other Diamonds. It all adds up with hindsight. We were just too caught up in "LOL THERE'S NO WAY ROSE IS PD THAT'S A SHITTY CRACK THEORY," to really open our eyes to all the signs at the time. And btw, I actually do like the Rose is PD twist. I think it made Rose way more interesting as a very morally-gray character.
@Cubeytheawesome I recall a someone being asked that on the Steven Universe Podcast and they just send you'd have to ask the storyboarder who wrote that line
The Rose Pink Diamond twist is the type of twist that was insanely predictable but I still desperately hoped it wouldn't be true because of how much it breaks the world and makes several characters worse as a result.
The only evidence people had for it back then was Steven’s gem looked like a diamond from the top and was pink which was weak evidence bc the other 2 minor diamonds don’t have that shape an quartz is possible to be in that shape anyway. On top of that it would be out of character for rose at the time and made pearls character a huge manipulative liar and delusional
Another thing I have to mention is Smash Brawl’s Subspace Emissary campaign. The entire story was one big clusterfic of fanon (that I still adore to this very day), that the previous record holder of “Longest fanfic in the world” WENT TO A SUBSPACE EMISSARY FANFIC. Nintendo spawned a huge fanfic moment by making its own huge fanfic in game form!
The owl house, the entire huntlow scene in the For The Future episode Character's powers are going out of control and they need to be saved by their love interest? Yep definitely fanfic stuff
The scene in MHA Heroes Rising where Midoriya shares OFA with Bakugou. He at this point in canon, probably knew he had to go against AFO, but he was reckless and didn't care about AFO possibly ruining the world without the power.
OH MY GOD, THIS^ THANK YOU!! I've been trying to figure out how to describe MHA: Heroes Rising ever since I saw it, and this describes it PERFECTLY That *whole film* felt like a poorly written fanfic, like, it was fun, but stopping to think about it critically for more than two seconds will give you a headache Also I'm still mad at the Teachers leaving the students *completely* unsupervised (when by this point they KNOW they're prepping for literal WAR) it felt very... _irrational_

Then Deku has a panic attack when seeing Bakugo's dead body and proceeds to unlock like every AFO ability. Honestly Bakugo and Deku's entire character arc feels like fanfiction 😭
I just finished Voltron Season 8 and I gotta say the genuine amount of the hero characters just standing there not doing anything is such a fanfiction move. I suck at action scenes in general, but the amount of times I expected these idiots to do something were dashed when I just saw them... sitting or standing there... reacting to the bad events caused by the villain. The cast TRAINED for this kind of fight and yet they reacted in shock and horror like bystanders. DO SOMETHING! Professional writers wrote this!

People are probably not going to agree with me on this, but JKR writes romance about as well as a 12 year old who just discovered shipping in fanfiction, and not nessaraly in a good way.
Here’s a literal bit of fanfic becoming cannon. For a while after Cuphead’s release people were shipping Mugman with the boss Cala Maria which became *very* popular. So popular in fact that both The Cuphead Show and the books made the weird love between them cannon to Mugman’s character. I’ve been conflicted about this ever since
I took writing class in college and my professor (who keep in mind has over 20 years of experience) said this when I brought up the idea everything sounding like fanfiction such as No Way Home, The Mandalorian, Ghostbusters (2021) and many others. And here's what he had to say "I don't believe fanfiction has the same kind of definition it once held that people often associate it with because you can argue that everything is fanfiction. You can argue that George Lucas creating the original Star Wars trilogy fanfiction because of the history and passion he put in and being inspired by the Flash Gordon comics. Or Stan Lee creating Spiderman, The X Men and Fantastic 4 is fanfiction because he wanted people with powers to be relatable. I think this is something that needs to be talked about more

@@thomasraines1396 exactly! They wouldn’t even need the avatar guy- they have vampires who can control emotions, read minds, detect lies, create lifelike hallucinations, see the future, and even *control* the future (Siobhan, one of the Irish vamps, can “manipulate the outcome of a situation” just by thinking really hard about it?? Insanely OP power to give a throwaway character with less than 10 lines of dialogue) Why they don’t have their hands in every world government is a true mystery😭
@@graceconnelly4629 exactly it’s insane, even before the more outlandish abilities were introduced: Alice and Edward could topple governments by themselves. There was a book I read in high school and it started by saying magic users had already overthrew the governments of the world and the non magic users of the world were kept as their servants. That’s realistically what the world of Twilight should’ve been like. Even the Vampires from Blade had their hands in the government and what not which they used through negotiation and dealing with humans. There was a movie in the 2000s’ that had the premise of vampires having taken over the world and everything goes on as normal but it’s vampires instead of humans.
As someone who started as a fanfic writer I hope that when I publish my books that I give off that feeling. Because what is writing novels other than fan fiction about your ocs? I want people to fall in love with my characters and see the vision I have for them.

Well Rohan was literally araki's self insert so that's why even in stone ocean when the world is resetting he's apparently still getting his manga out on time despite months going by in seconds and the callbacks in teen titans go are meta jokes to literally poke fun at the fans of the og show that despise the reboot. It's not fan fic-y it's metahumor and teen titans go uses a lot of meta humor
@Joecortez6925 Araki himself said that he was not Rohan and the people pre-judged him for that, in the portrait of Jojoveler, he drawed himself with Rohan, and he even bothered to draw his own face different, and you know that Araki has the same-face syndrome
Doesn't 17 in the DBS anime say that he got this strong by fighting poachers, and not Cell Jrs? It becomes even more ridiculous when Manga 17 manages to push Goku to SSJ3, but anime 17 manages to push Goku to Blue. Meaning 17 somehow became stronger fighting normal human poachers than fighting Cell Jrs.
Btw I feel like I should add this: -Dio shirtless in bed with a *boy. Not a man And while it is in character for DIO, I wonder wth was going through Araki's head. Most accidental suggestive (I hope it was accidental considering Enrico was a minor) scenes between two men are made by straight authors not realizing the possible undertones, but Araki was and is pretty progressive so wth was bro cooking???? But yeah, Berserk, despite being older than most cliches, in its entirety feels like an edgy fanfic but made by a amazing artists, and thats whats make it so cool, its unapologetic about its edginess and you got to respect it. The berserker armour, the dark beast (the wolf), the stupidily large sword, the mechanical arm cannon.
The resident Helluva Boss fan here! 👋🏽 In Mammon’s Musical episode (the mid-season finale of Season 2), Ozzie publicly confesses his love for Fizz in this big stadium and EVERYONE in the audience reacts the way we do when a ship becomes canon. They were texting their friends, putting it in message boards/the hell version of Discord, and yelling “I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT” at each other. Straight out of a fic in the BEST way
When the writers tried to justify Marinette’s stalker tendencies by basically character assassinating Kim. Honestly there are an endless amount of Miraculous moments that feel like fanfic.

That is, in fact, my headcanon for Ralph Breaks The Internet-Turbo wrote it. In his last moments, knowing he was losing, Turbo came up with this story to comfort himself. Going Turbo is portrayed as no big deal because the story was written by Turbo. Turbo’s lies about Vanellope-that she would get Sugar Rush unplugged if she was allowed to race-are made true in RBTI, where the first thing Vanellope, now allowed to race, does is getting the game unplugged. Ralph is given clingy, jealous tendencies that he’s shown no previous indication of having and made stupid enough to try and use a virus despite knowing full well how dangerous viruses are because in the first movie, he did the most to foil Turbo’s plans, so Turbo hates him the most of all the protagonists and changes his personality to make him unlikable. Felix and Calhoun are sidelined and forgotten about because neither of them really interacted with Turbo, so he doesn’t know what to do with them in his story. Clickbait and popup ads are portrayed positively even though in real life they spread viruses because Turbo is a virus himself, so he naturally wants the public to see virus spreaders as a good thing. Knowsmore, the helpful search engine character, is voiced by the same actor as Turbo.

Lance getting Altean markings when Allura kissed him in Voltron. The entirety of Voltron’s ending felt like fanficton actually. But that one moment really had my sanity breaking. Edit: Also Lila’s entire existence in Miraculous. Especially at the end of season 5.
OH MY GOD RIGHT??? I actually kind of liked her or at least found her to be pretty interesting in the OG movie, but then the musical pushed her worst moments up to 11 or at least villanized her like crazy. It actually made me dislike the musical a lot. JUST that specifically ruined an otherwise pretty good and faithful adaptation for me.
Facts. Duke was so much more of an interesting character in the film. Though tbf, McNamara barely felt like a character at all. So I guess they just took all the interesting characterization from Duke and gave it to McNamara. This is honestly the only thing I think the musical failed at that the movie excelled in.
Lots of people are suprised by the fact that the nickname "Baby Boy" that Deadpool uses for Spider-Man in almost all Spideypool fics is canon, and came from the comics. It even predates the ship going mainstream, so it wasn't even fanservice.
Because Deadpool is the Pansexual Menace. He makes the ships, not the fans.

The idea of an Akumatized Chat Noir being a color inversion named "Chat Blanc" was very popular in the Miraculous Ladybug fandom in the early days.
Imagine our surprise when Chat Noir canonically gets akumatized into Chat Blanc-
Devil's Love is a fanfic that predates the actual episode and features chat blanc. I need to reread it tbh.

Also similarly with all the AUs of Felix (OG Chat Noir when it was gonna be 2D animated) and Adrien being cousins. Now that’s canon too 😂

I was just about to type that up! I remember there was another topic on that subreddit with a similar title, and that's what I posted!
Yeah, Phoenix canonical says "Sorry Daddy" to Edgeworth at some point. In court.

I get what they were going for, but it did not work out that well.
Korrasmi was literally just the fandom taking over Tod demand their ship it wasn’t built up at all
I think s3 feels the most like what the show wanted to do, which is explore the role of the Avatar in a changing, more modern world
It sucks because there's a lot of good ideas, but they needed to spend way more time on some of them, remove more of the fanfic tier writing and ideas (Kaijunalaq), and commit to a more consistent narrative for it all.
Monster High. The “teenage children of monsters in pop culture all attend the same school” is the perfect prompt for fanfiction.

-“kills off” scott and focuses on ramona
-a LOT of focus on the exes themselves
-just a lot of minor character focus in general
-really random pairings (gideon x julie, wallace x todd)

BTW i like spto and i almost think it fanfiction-ness is a contributor
It kinda feels like a sequel to me because it gives everyone closure. I think the Gideon Julie ship is kinda funny bc it pairs Scott’s biggest op with his other biggest op
I'd say that the movie was the main campaign and Takes Off was new game+. It felt like the best possible outcome for all the characters.
5:00 meanwhile no fanfic writer would have made "somehow palpatine returned" a thing. There would have been a filler chap full of explanations and flashbacks, as close as possible to the sources, maybe even a whole spinoff, back in time "dead dove do not eat" style fic to make it make sense
Which is funny since all of the Disney plus shows are trying to set it up where somehow paplatine returns makes sense
I think most of that is because the sequel trilogy is a round-robin fic. Abrams wrote the first chapter, key elements got changed up by the co-author, and then he had to twist it back to where he was heading before. Had they come up with an actual arc, things would have played out differently.
Anyone else remember the iCarly episode where one direction are there and harry styles pretends to be ill so carly has to keep nursing him?

This Then happened in episode one of season 3 of the show and I was just like, okay I guess this episode is going to be exactly like a fanfiction I read like 4 months ago.
well shit, if that's really what happened i guess it'll be interesting to get to 💀💀 (i just started the show last night)

- Dorothy is real and also a hunter

- L. Frank Baum was a Man of letters (nerd hunter)
- the Lesbian re-occurring side character gets a crush on Dorothy, who has reappeared after being turned into goo for like 100 years, and they both go to oz together at the end of the episode.

Didn’t the uncle grandpa crossover foreshadow that?
I think this is something that needs to be talked about more
oh also that scene in The Magnus Archives where Jon begs Martin to stab out his eyes and run away together. also the scene in Double life where Grian says "I THINK WERE SOULMATES BUT YOURE TOO BUSY CHASING FAIRIES!". Also just literaly everything about Erin Ruunaser from Aurora.
Also TMA: The few minutes of peace before the apocalypse
Good cows could've been the whole season I'd have listened 😢
Tma was just awesome and the amount of shit I’ve heard (the fluffy quill ep with Tim teasing marten abt his crush and that one leaked patroon ep with lonely eyes and all clips from live shows) is so fanficy and the entire premis of the magnus protiCal …
that double life quote (and the entirety of that whole little investigation) live in my head rent free. of course they would be paired up with each other. of course one of them would learn first and watch the other wistfully in the distance... and if you watch the two povs it really is a different story with each one. how can cinema lie this be accidental
For me, it’s the plot in Breaking Dawn where the Cullens have to like, collect all their vampiric allies from around the globe. Feels like the work of a fan who’s very excited to show off their cool OCs😂
And they all have crazy x-men powers, one of them is basically the avatar.
the way twilight vamps are practically gods but still hide away from humans like *we* could hurt them??? Just take over the world my god
@@graceconnelly4629 even with modern technology it would be easy to take over the world from the shadows, not even an outright conflict.
Insanely OP power to give a throwaway character with less than 10 lines of dialogue)
Why they don’t have their hands in every world government is a true mystery😭
Vader being Luke and Lea's dad, just go back and rewatch that scene it feels so much like fanfic
Or that Luke and Leia are siblings.
@@teresa6525 Especially that, it really came out of nowhere.
good omens season 2 fanfic energy was so strong it made me hyperfixate on it when it came out. i regret nothing. amazing season. im so sad that the last season has been reduced to a 90 minute movie because a certain someone couldnt just be normal
Wait what happened to the last season, who did what? I’m out of the loop here

-All the callbacks from the Teen Titans Go to the classic Teen Titans
-Dio in bed shirtless with another man (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean)
-Rohan beeing exactly the same guy despite of beeing in completely different universe (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Jojolands)
-The extra chapter about fanfics... and the 70 % of chapters about Tomoki's harem (Watamote)
-Guts using the Dragonslayer, or the gang searching Farnesse on the party (Berserk)
-Krillin appearing married with 18 (Dragonball)
-Cell Jr. on 17 island, the worst thing is that the anime skips this (Dragonball Super)
-The scene of the U6 soldiers passing trough Caulifla's territory, the middle age soldier felt a lot like a "i am saiyan, i thing that me and my race we are the seventh wonder on the universe" (Dragonball Super)
-Jack Dalton... except when they talk about his past on Afghanistan, the PTSD or his relationship with Riley (Mcgyver reboot)

-Tec defeating a russian soldier with one head and without watching, bro, that guy was not even capable to walk correctly on the first movie (Fast and Furious)
-Seth Mcfarlane series in general
Meaning 17 somehow became stronger fighting normal human poachers than fighting Cell Jrs.
what are you saying, dio being gay af and also prone to grooming and manipulation is integral part of his canon
Btw I feel like I should add this:
-Dio shirtless in bed with a *boy. Not a man
And while it is in character for DIO, I wonder wth was going through Araki's head.
1:11 and guess what, it's 2024 and writers still havent stopped with the wincest
Thank god
😭
Cheese Sandwich (Weird Al's self insert character in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic) marrying Pinkie Pie and having a child named LIL CHEESE

I was NOT expecting to stumble upon an OSP shout out in this, but I am VERY happy about it.
The resident Helluva Boss fan here! 👋🏽
In Mammon’s Musical episode (the mid-season finale of Season 2), Ozzie publicly confesses his love for Fizz in this big stadium and EVERYONE in the audience reacts the way we do when a ship becomes canon. They were texting their friends, putting it in message boards/the hell version of Discord, and yelling “I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT” at each other. Straight out of a fic in the BEST way
I forgot about this episode omg 😭
Facts
Stolas and Blitzø are the slow burn angsty part, Blitzø himself would probably be dead dove idk
The entirety of helluva boss feels like a fanfic in the best way possible
vivs entire writing and character design ethos is fanfiction coded in the worst, most 2019 gachalife fujoshi way you could fathom
@@problem3412Absolutely. Every time I see a screenshot or screen from HH, I think it’s supposed to be remade in GL.
Uhh for Miraculous the fact that Chat Blanc happened. If I think of another one that felt fan-fiction like I’ll come back-
When the writers tried to justify Marinette’s stalker tendencies by basically character assassinating Kim.
Honestly there are an endless amount of Miraculous moments that feel like fanfic.
Kingdom Hearts games are absolutely fanfictions of Disney movies. They change the canon and add their own characters.
The 'Gravity Falls' episode "Roadside Attraction" felt like a bad fanfic, with its whole "Candy suddenly likes Dipper for no explained reason" subplot.
Spiderman nwh was legit a fanfic. Sometimes I'm surprised it's real lol
Every season of Supernatural starting from season 6 was basically just the writing team’s fanfic 😭
Heather showing up in any given episode of Dragons: Race to The Edge is a pretty good signifier of whether that ep will feel like fanfiction
You're out of line but entirely correct
Also the Thor Bonecrusher episodes.
@@IceFireofVoid oh yeah absolutely
Absolutely. Also Midnight Scrum (the episode where Hiccup has a bounty placed on him) felt straight out of a whump fic. I can’t believe that was a real episode
OH MY GOD, heather always felt kinda weird to me, and its because she keeps edging on an angsty self insert!! In race to the edge she even rips off Toothless’s “nothing is known about my dragon, but theyre super duper powerful and dangerous”
The ending of double life with the whole "Tilly death do us part thing" absolutely insane that Scott actaully did that when it feels like it was taken out of an angst fic. My favourite life series finale.
For me it's between double life and 3rd life.
The desert duo betrayal but then refusing to kill each other hurt so muchhhhhh
the whole "he loves me" scene with bdubs in last life, with him dying trying to prove his loyalty to Etho. Bdubs never uploaded his last session, so I originally thought it made up by fans until I watched Grian's pov
1. the entire plot of loki finding his female version of himself and falling in love with her
2. whatever happened with jane foster becoming lady thor
mcu just decided to make two selfcest genderbend ships canon
and both of them are norse brother gods dear lord
literal hatsune miku and mika situation, like what
Wait, jane foster has thor's power, but she's not variant of thor odinson, so it's not selfcest.
It's similar to hope and scott, they just have similar power but still two different person.
Honestly that "there was only one bed" scene is not the only rinharu moment straight out of a fanfiction in free!
Everything in Ralph Breaks the Internet.
-ignores Going Turbo
-Makes Ralph stupid and creepy
-Features a bunch of popular characters from other media
omg didnt one of those movies have some villain get together? that sounds EXACTLY like a crossover fic
I prefer to call the sequel either Disney Wrecked This Movie, Disney's Doodie or I just pretend it doesn't exist.
@@arishachoudhury_ The first movie is a love letter to video games.
7:16 Correction: All vampires in Skyrim are immune to the sun unless they progress to the later starvation stages. Serana also notably wears a hood when outside.
That new Suicide Squad anime is definitely just fanfic with a budget. And technically all fairytale based shows and movies, Once Upon a Time (super big fanfic vibes), Grimm, Ever After High, a lot of Disney movies, etc.
Lance getting Altean markings when Allura kissed him in Voltron.
The entirety of Voltron’s ending felt like fanficton actually. But that one moment really had my sanity breaking.

Heather Duke's "character"ization in the musical feels like those character-bashing fanfics
