That looks fantastic. I’m really digging the green dial, and Phoibos’ introductory prices are always a great value. Thanks for the great review. And I’m glad they are starting to make smaller sizes.
@@quarters-eye8922Ha! Yeah I don’t know why, but I’ve been really liking green dials lately. I bought one of Jody’s Erebus Ascent Watches, and I came very close to getting the green dial. I went with the safer choice and got the enamel white though.
Just got mine. I love the 40mm diameter. Perfect for 6.75inch wrist. Tested on timegrapher and dial up is +9 spd. Other positions are all -6 to -9 spd so it all balances out with accuracy. The crown does feel cheap though when turning. Adjusting bracelet was annoying because of the screwed in links, one screw was stuck.
Good review, this is a nice watch, great lume and very well priced. I actually don't mind the white date wheel, because it is at 6, it is more legible. It is a bit heavy, but the thickness was less than I expected. I like it, but prefer my SN0116.
@1:11 @3:30 @7:50 Why are the date numbers off-center to the left side of the window on the dial. After doing some research on this, it seems that most (possibly all) are this way.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Everybody has different tolerance to flaws and defects. For me personally, anything on a wristwatch that does not align properly would be too annoying. These are the kinds of details that real watch collectors watch-out for so, I appreciate your honest feedback.
I was thinking about old version for a long time but eventually didn't buy it. This one looks better, but they should have kept 42mm. 39 is instant dealbreaker.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR I never measured my wrist, it doesn't really matter to me. I simply don't like small watches, even more since this recent downsizing trend. I wish more watches were like Seiko Sumo. 44mm size and 50+ lug to lug. This looks right to me.
Hi James, great review as always. Just out of curiosity it seems that Phoibos no longer ships from a UK warehouse ? Do you know if this is the case, and if so, would you be stung with taxes etc if shipped from EU warehouse?
The end links just aren't well designed. The fact it looked OK on your wrist doesn't mean there is no room for improvement. Imho, the date wheel should be light blue!
I really wouldn't call this "lower tier". Yes it would be nice to have things like a colour match date wheel, but that's only really a minor gripe. As for the weight, I don't have any issue with that at all.
@HonestWatchReviewsHWR Agreed, as much as I enjoy my San Martin quality watches my black dial version of this quality wise is very close and the design is very nice. Weight doesn't bother me at all.
I love mine - I have the black and it’s outstanding!

I own this model. My biggest issue is the bezel doesn't rotate smoothly on this watch. I travel often for work and use the GMT feature.
Thank you, as always a really nice and simple review. Really good looking piece. Cheers Tony from Scandinavia
Thank you very much Tony 👍

It is slightly off-centre, but it's still easy to read, so it doesn't really bother me.

Ooooh - date wheel the same shade of blue as the lume would be cool.
That would be pretty cool now you mention it actually.

It's not 39mm, it's 40mm, including the bezel, or 39.5mm for the case.

That one is really nice. Have you seen my review of it?
looks amazing but also pricey. nice video.
Given what you're getting and with the discount code, I think it's reasonable. Thanks.

Cheers mate. I've always opted to get them shipped from China, to avoid customs fees.
Thanks for the update James, bought an Eagle Ray a few years ago from Uk warehouse, will go the China route if I pick up another Phoibos.

San Martin made lower tier micros (like Phoibos) irrelevant to me. No color-matched date window and way too heavy.

Design wise Phoibos is more original than SMs. Also SM logo is ass compared to that octopus. Technical spec wise they are similar.
