Translucent glass with sparkling inclusions of gold, copper, or chromic oxide was first made in Venice in the 15th to 18th century. The later discovered jewelry stone got the same name thanks to the similar look. In Adventurine's case the imitation is actually the original.
It's a common confusion. I suppose original aventurine glass should be produced in Murano. I don't believe even Venezianico's aventurine is though. Aventurine mineral is just a completely different thing. Especially because of the current trend in stone dials it is confusing for watch aficionados.
Thank you!! most don't know that Aventurine stone and Aventurine glass are two very different things and high quality aventurine is extremely expensive!
Hey Marc, enjoyed the stream yesterday with TGV. I was the one asking about Islander doing a rectangle tank style watch with roman numerals or even the California dial no second. The Museum of American Armor on Long Island is a museum of the tanks that were built there. Islander Armor thanks for all you are for the community.
Bought 2 watches on your Black Friday sale. Shipped so fast. Silver Northport and Spinnacker × Islander Croft. Love them both. Only watches worn on my wrist since. Alternating days. Thanks Marc.
LOVE THAT GLACIER! I must add that I acquired a few Phoibos watches and absolutely love what they do. They seem to be in the same range as the Islander watches, i.e. great build at a great price. It seems just natural for you to have them in your roster. Great collaborations too. Thanks for sharing Marc.
I really want an aventurine dial someday, but that silver ring kinda kills the "starry night sky" illusion I'm looking for. If an Islander aventurine comes to us soon, I hope it has a more "moody" or mysterious feel if that makes sense.
I've been asking Marc for a 38mm aventurine Brookville for probably 6 months or more. Seems like the best platform for it and I know it would be my dream Islander.
Very nice! I have a Phoibos and it is one of my favorite watches. I would pick up one of these if I hadn’t grabbed a Cadola from your Black Friday sale. Couldn’t pass up the great sale price. 👍
I love seeing more 9015s being used. Its thinner, 4hz, even looks good, big upgrade from a NH3X. I actually MUCH prefer them to the SW-200. As far as aventurine, I think I'm being tested. Not speaking of it lol
I've been eyeballing Phoibos for a while. Particularly the Wavemaster but now I'm curious about the one you flashed on the screen. Just got the Glacier in the mail the other day, looks better in person. Can't believe you haven't sold out yet. How many left you got in stock?
I would definitely be interested in learning more about the difference between man-made aventurine and true aventurine dials for watches. If I understand correctly, are all aventurine dials with sparkle considered fake? Or is there more nuance to it?
I am enjoying my aventurine erebus ascent, happy with my choice there. Wouldn't say it amazed me, but i do find myself rolling ny wrist and staring at it 😅
Thursday before dark. I tried to buy but ALL my b?lack Friday picks were already sold out. Very disappointed because I was trying to spend 2.5 - 3 K $ on Squale, red star, Etc Now I'm loathe to try again, even though that Amazonite dial is right up my alley!
Man these all look amazing. I want three of em!! You are killing me you know, slowly via my wallet. Loved the sales at Long Island over the holiday. I got a bracelet.
I got my first watch with an Adventurine dial watch recently, the Phoibos Wavemaster 39mm. The watch is awesome but the Adventurine left me completely underwhelmed. Adventurine looks somehow better on pictures and videos than in real life. I sold it to a friend and got the purple Wavemaster instead and I love it. I like the 5-link bracelet on the Wavemaster more than the BoR on the Delphinius.
I hesitate to call Aventurine Glass "fake" compared to the mineral--it's just a different thing. Folks have been making this kind of sparkling glass for centuries. It was named by the 17th century in Venice when ruled by the Doge, but older examples of the technique date back to Persia in maybe the 12th century. To be sure, it's worth specifying the glass and not the mineral. Likewise, there are no doubt different quality levels within Aventurine glass.
Are meteorite dials actual meteorite? I heard somewhere all meteorite dials are made from the same meteorite from Namibia. (This may only apply to Rolex meteorite dials.) thanks.
That is an excellent question. I, for one, would be severely disappointed if it turned out my outer space watch was really a laboratory watch. There is no fun in that.
Henry Archer actually give you the name and the history of the meteorite that their dials are made from. So I'm sure theirs are genuine. Can't speak for any other companies though.
5:39 The ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX around the rehaut is so icky and gaudy. If you’re wearing a Rolex, you don’t need the watch to scream. It should speak for itself.
Mineral collector here- it’s called goldstone- you can find it in a few nice colors including a rusty red that I quite like and of course the blue that we’re seeing in watches.
I like this brand’s watches, but I really dislike their logo. It’s just too large, dominant and fussy. I wish they’d at least tone down and simplify it a bit. The vast majority of watches that have aventurine dials, use the synthetic kind. I think it’s nearly indistinguishable from the real thing anyway 🤷♂️
And another canal here on youtube that want your money guys. stop buy this copieng and hommage garbage watches from people like him here. do you the favor and buy the originals. spezielly a real samurai from seiko and not that horrible garbagre here.

This is what I thought closer to be true. Now I’m confused lol

yes!!!
I keep questioning this also.
Drives me nuts when watch brands use the glass and call it a natural stone.

Ah, yes, I know that place!!!!
I'm a night sky fanatic and the blue faux mineral with the sparkles really appeals to me! It reminds me of a dark and cloudless night sky. Beautiful!

I had never seen Amazonite prior to this; I’m as awestuck as when I first saw lapis lazuli. Stunning.

noted with thanks.
If you make an Upper Brookville or any 40mm+ case, I'll buy two!
Very interesting colour combo blue and brown my eyes couldn't work out weather i liked the look or not
I recently bought the Delphinus with the aventurine dial, and it's superb. Arguably their best watch to date, although the Narwhal 38mm is close
Real aventurine in various shades of blue is awesome looking. I prefer the real over the imitation. Thanks Marc. Have a great day! 🙏🏼
thanks so much.

Ordered the isl-04 on thanksgiving day, it arrived in less than a week, am amazed how fast considering the volume of orders Island watches had.
That's great to hear!
Always down to watch and learn! Marc, do you know why that kind of dial even came to be called aventurine if it's so different?
Well done Phoibus! A great watch at a reasonable price. It has everything going for it, movement, bracelet, sapphire, dial, date, lume...
Prefer 42mm though

really like the font for the bezel numbers and the spacing, anyone know where I can get more like that?
Yep, I knew it was glass (crystal) with suspended copper, I still like them. :)
Amazing new watches from Phoibos that I'm sure other brands will copy soon.
I am enjoying my aventurine erebus ascent, happy with my choice there. Wouldn't say it amazed me, but i do find myself rolling ny wrist and staring at it 😅
I would love that aventurine dial in your small samurai case.
When are you releasing collab with this Mark?

The more I look at that small Samurai, the more I like, very sharp.
thank you.
Man these all look amazing. I want three of em!! You are killing me you know, slowly via my wallet. Loved the sales at Long Island over the holiday. I got a bracelet.
About time this became more common knowledge. Amazing how many brands and their "influencers" don't explain the deal with Aventurine.
It was a lesson for me!
What’s in it for them, to disabuse people of the notion that all aventurine is natural?
@@Area_man115 Honesty, integrity, fair dealing, a good name?? Someone like Marc seems to have done OK doing business that way.
@@BAF605 You made my point. While not getting it.
@@Area_man115 No. I didn't.

Love the wavemaster!
Great watches and very comfortable bracelets.
The geometry lesson…. Hilarious 😂
Very Baltic Aquascaphe in appearance. However, differentiated by the dial texture.
That title though, interesting 😂
Exploding from the center with a brownie ring.........yeah , that's the no wipe sphincter. The last one looks nicer.....w the glitter.
LOL
Beautiful !
Yeah, the Citizen Fugu automatic looks like bunghole for real
Natural aventurine is less sparkly, but blue goldstone, which is what this is trying to mimic is identical.🍻
Love the Beads of Rice bracelet! Who's ready for Marc to bust out with a metal Ralley bracelet and a Razorwire bracelet on a LIW Turtle? 🐸
Yikes, the date within the window seems very uncentered on these.
I'd say it varies as dates flip.
The Delphinus constellation is supposed to resemble a dolphin (Latin name: Delphinus delphis), so there's an aquatic connection to the octopus king.

Correct, however, I feel it is misleading. I actually had no idea.
Not sure why Marc brought only the date-version from Phoibos, the no-date version would be cleaner and more attractive buys.
Mark your NY accent comes out when you said “rehaut”😂

Sphinctitious !!!
LOL
That Amazon looks great
Has the video of watches got a weird colour grade?
Aventurine the mineral is pale green, so it actually looks more like Amazonite than typical blue Aventurine glass.
I wish my 38mm narwhal had that bracelet.
Yeah, this is a good bracelet.

Marc, you gotta get over your dislike of date complications and asymmetric arrangements 😋
Really wish they would change there logo then I would be on one.
Triumph of the Simulacra, baby! ;)
LOL
Did I spark this conversation lol?
Delphinus, not delphinius... just a heads up.
Wish these imitation adventurine dials had their own name. I actually prefer the look to real adventurine.

I like the stone dial! Not a fan of the buttholes, the metallic white isnt too bad though
I like the black sparkly one also
Wow, Rolex stole the color scheme from Pagani Design
I knew it was too good to be true lol. Still pretty though
A sphincter dial probably looks like a spoked wheel.
MR. BEAN IS NOW SELLING WATCHES
That fake aventurine with glitter, nice indeed.
I call that “aventurine” Glitter glue. Give me something real like meteorite or malachite instead.
True.
Just can’t take the logo
The Aventurine fad is lost on me, much like GMT's....
no worries.
Like a Tissot Seastar on roids.
