Never doubt me! I never stopped believing that we'd see something out of Onimusha and it was just a matter of time. I'm really happy to see that we're finally getting a new game after nearly 20 years of no new game for the franchise!

Onimusha is such an under rated series. Deserves way more love.

I absolutely agree! It's faded to obscurity and I hope some day it can get the recognition it deserves!

Genuinely hope this spin-off leads to something. I was so excited when Warlords got the HD Remaster treatment (as much as I wish it had the Genma content), and was really looking forward to them giving the rest of the series that treatment as well. Can only hope they have something in the pipeline outside of this spin-off!

The Warlords HD Remaster is one of the very few games I ever bought on release day, I'm still a little bitter that they didn't do the same for the rest of the series

As someone who's been a fan of Onimusha for who knows how long the fact that they're doing anything at all with the franchise is exciting even if I will probably never play this

That's essentially the optimism I have with anything related to the series.

I am losing interest as these releases and remasters/remakes have a FOMO shelf life and fall into the trap of delisting, I have declined purchasing a lot of these games, and have gone back to collecting the original copies and emulating them instead of playing on real hardware.
It is possible to upscale these games far more and gain far better performance than actual official rereleases, upscale textures through ljnear and AI upscalers, enjoy higher quality audio than remasters and get a more responsive game due to lack of hidden DRM and better event polling on emulators or original hardware.
Capcom is in a strange era where they give small breadcrumbs for short shelflife project in order to maximize sales for a short period since videogames either have to be consistent nickle and dime liveservices in order to return investment or become gimmicks to sell on margins.
I will say this until my body draws its last breath, videogames are money laundering schemes now. Where is all the money going? Why are we getting subpar products?
I will wait for an industry reset. If people genuinely believe in revivals, then they are free to show up in numbers, but Capcom have done these events before with nothing to show for. They need to actually take their fingers out their asshole and go above and beyond anything they've done before.

I get what you're saying but I don't fully agree with you. I have no doubt that there is FOMO of games that get ported, remastered or remade (it's why I am not the biggest fan of AAA companies using Limited Run Games to release physical games) however I don't think that's exclusively a problem with remasters and remakes. While I will not say that you're wrong for wanting to emulate, I do it myself, I will say that people can't be surprised that these companies don't do anything with any dormant franchise. Don't get me wrong I do think there's a lot to criticize the industry and the practices that are present. As for Remakes I'm split cause while I do agree that not everything needs a remake (looking at games like Until Dawn or Horizon Zero Dawn for example) or at least we shouldn't just remake something before an official port is made (giving people the option to play the original game on modern platforms with possibility of some quality of life feature so they could see why said game is loved or not by so many to begin with) I am not necessarily opposed to remakes for various reasons.

@OfficialBioDevil we can't put the onus on the customer, we're in the youtube age where even the smallest indie darling can become a success and overlooked games can get a massive fail boost.
It's not like the PS2/3 era where good games actually failed due to release windows/lack of advertisement. Marketting is actually making use of influencers and reviewers for that for a reason.
My main issue is quality and getting your money's worth. Another is the lack of new properties and Capcom not even following up with their existing ones. Why did we even need a RE4 remake? Those resources could have been invested in a brand new game in the same series. The reason why players don't invest in new properties/IPs/ideas is became of reputation. People have already seen it too often publishers are willing to drop anything faster than a wet towel and go back to safe, ao they won't invest in new ideas and games either.
