As a longtime Remedy fan,Alan Wake as series has NEVER really been profitable. It took until the next generation re-release on PS4/5 and XBox consoles for the first game to start making money almost a decade later. They should know the series is a passion project at this point,not a money maker. Control as a franchise set them up financially for the long term
Alan wake 1s amazing exploration and gameplay and world works so well because it was supposed to be open world and they scaled back. 2 they just made a linear game and forgot the accidental amazing world. Also personal preference I hate the live action stuff in all the games I just wish they did in engine like Alan Wake 1.
I got the 360 book edition of Alan wake back in the day, I really wanted the 2nd game to be good but the wokefying beam on the girl was a direct nope...

All of my local GameStop locations actually have signs in the front windows that flat out state: "we will not be accepting any trade-in's for Dragon Age: The Veilguard due to excessive unsold trade-in stock". The few used copies they have on shelves are going for under $5 and no one is biting.
Fully honesty and no bullshit, I expected TGA to do another rigged pat on the back like with TLOU2. Imagine my surprise when they didn't even give anything to Veilguard in a stupid category no one cares about.
The journalists loved it and gave it good reviews, and it's not like they haven't done this same thing before. The Last of Us Part II was a game the journalists adored but gamers reacted negatively to. It won basically every award it was eligible for in the year it released.
