I've been in salt mine Wieliczka in South Poland😊too! 'Cool'😎 salty and I licked it too!😊😉 Also, I visited a beautiful Catholic Chapel undeground, build all from salt. Many Polish couples gets married there.☺ Salt lakes, with a retreat accommodation for people with asthma and pulmonary diseases. I don't know if the retreat is still there though.🤔'There's a legend going on that in the 13th, century a young Polish Prince Boleslav V the Chaste from Piast Dynasty, decided to marry a beautiful Hungarian Princess Kinga, the daughter of King Bela IV. Who asked her what she would like to get from him as a wedding present. Princess refused gold and jewellery, because they didn't bring the happiness. She wanted something that she could take with her to her future husband, and that it could serve the people that she was going to live with. She wanted salt. Her father was surprised, and offered to her the biggest and most prosperous salt deposits in Hungary - the Marmaros. However, nobody knew what Kinga would do with the treasure. On her way to Poland though Kinga visited the Marmaros salt mine, kneeled and prayed at the entrance into mine. Then to everyone's surprise, suddenly, she threw her engagement ring inside. She then gathered a group of the best Hungarian salt miners and told them to follow her. When in Poland and approching Krakow, the Princess stopped and asked the miners to dig for salt. They started digging and suddenly hit something very hard. It was a lump of salt. When they broke it, everyone saw what was hidden inside! - Kinga's engagement ring! After marrying Boleslav V the Chaste, Hungarian Princess Kinga asked to build the salt mine where her ring was found- in Wieliczka! This is how Hungarian Princess brought salt to Poland and made her new country to trive and prosper! Wieliczka is the most famous salt mine museum. To commemorate the Princess, 101 metres under the ground, down in the mine there is the world's biggest underground Chapel dedicated to Saint Kinga. There is much more to this legend/story. Polish Queen Kinga and King Boleslav V the Chaste never consumed their marriage... Queen Kinga dedicated all her life to helping poor and disadvantaged people. She died in 1292. Pope John Paul II canonized Kinga as a Saint in 1999. From Polish/Hungarian history.

I'm glad that you enjoy being in Poland.I would like to add few more words about salt mine you visited! Wieliczka is the one of the oldest trademarks in the world. Is works continuously from 1044bc. (one short break was between 1939-1945. When the German and Russian invaders decided to declare war on us)
In Poland we say better not lick these walls. Every year this place is visited by hundreds thousands of people. You never know who licked before you ;P

To answer your question on the Norwegian mines, they're completely different. They were left basically in situ in the 1970s, except for some minor tweaks and the building of a concert hall. But it still feels like you're in a functioning mine, and it is dark and damp and you wear a helmet. I hope to see these mines someday!

I love Wieliczka as a place. It's really shocking how huge the underground installation is, as well as the specific air. If you like it, try to search for other great places in Poland to visit - the Castle in Moszna, Torun city - especially the old part of the city (you literally FEEL how old those building are, Krasiejow park is also great.
Be sure you ask google about interesting places when you're here - you can be surprised.
It's nice you enjoyed your trip, all best to you.
    Regards.

Wieliczka is fun, but you should definitely try Bochnia salt mine as well. It is probably same distance from Kraków, more to the East, but it's less touristy, so less crowded and has much more fun routes, the only underground ferry through a saline underground lake, etc. You can also book a tour where the guide takes you to the hundred-year-old levels, where the ancient miners worked, and you can learn all about salt mining through the centuries. You can even sleep down there as they have hotel rooms!

Aneta Kulińska Oh deer, ofcourse you realize that Poland oficially exists since 996 year, before that Poland existed too but wasnt united so strictly, it existed as few lands. So it shouldnt be surprice that some buildings are thousand years old.

Hope to visit these mines in Poland soon or later. It is fascinating to imagine how people could work at those depth...Looking forward your next videos

Some useless but interesting facts about Wieliczka:
-There are some boxing shows every so often done down the mines called "Underground Boxing Show" (I now - name is bit cheesy)
-There was a number Guiness records done in Wieliczka including... underground baloon flight over salt lake! Just search and You will find more...! Cheers.

The very end of this clip - Pieniny Mountains. It's a pity that you haven't seen what it has to offer in summer, or - in snowy winter time. (Just google for images: Szczawnica, Pieniny, Homole, Czorsztyn). I recommend.

I wonder if this raftsmens actually spoke English to you? Or they spoke Polish all the time. I know that some of the raftsmens can speak English (well, myslef included) but there are many that do not. So I wonder how you judge your experience. Were you ok? Were you bored? How do you rate your rafting experience, views etc. I could really appriciate your feedback.

Yep, buildings in Cracow are thousands years old, Poland was one of the first human civilization (definitely first in Europe) and was extremely advanced at that time comparing to some 'great' ancient empires like Romans etc., who heard the stories from the strange merchants about this great but also closed power in Central Europe that never even think about coming closer to the these territories.

I can definitely recommend the Pienieny Mountains. Especially the tracks that are not very crowded. The views are gorgeous. And there's no sense to climb onto Trzy Korony summit since you have to queue very long and the view is as at every other summit. Last year I rafted the Dunajec river and then go back to the first station going through the Pieniny and it was the best part of the trip.

Luckily most tourists don’t behave like those two when traveling... imagine every tourist sticking a tongue out licking everything around them when visiting a salt mine. Wieliczka wouldn’t have much to show pretty soon. 😂
