I am buying a old DS and I have the opposite problem. When you hit the bake the parking brake engages. It releases as it should when you hit the gas pedal. Not sure what year it is. I will bring it home tomorrow amd get the restoration started.
Depending on if you have ds or a precedent, it's different. Since you didn't say, we don't know. But if it's a precedent, then you will probably need to buy some parts.

First, if you have a normal wiring job, there should be a delay timer on the brake lites. Does the brake lites work if Pedal is stepped on while the key is off? What should happen, is when you park and put the parking brake on, the brake lites should still stay on, for either 3 or up to 5 minutes, then they should time out and turn themselves off. See if that is the case for you ?
I’ve had a lot of problems with my self adjusting brakes on my 2004 club car precedent. Is there a way of removing those self adjusters and going with something else?
Other than disc brakes, I don't know of anything else. My experience with the self adjusters , or star wheels, is to replace them EVERYTIME you replace the shoes.
Probably not. If you have a pedal group 1, with silver metal on pedals, then you have the original crappy brake. The newer pedal group 2 have the good brake.

Excellent video to begin with but you never showed how to take out and install the new park break release, you stopped. You only said to take this off and that off etc. Remember, none of us know anything about this equipment.

That's all in the adjustment, you need to adjust BOTH pedals at the same time.

I do not work on gas carts, however Nivel has almost any part you need.

Try tightening the turnbuckle in the floor some.
