      Hi Karen, thank you dear girl! Yep you can use it in an apartment, we are and it's surprisingly clean to use. They really designed this well. Of course a tarp is a good idea underneath but frankly after hundreds of hours cutting agates, rocks etc...on a rock saw and seeing the huge mess cutting rocks can make, using the 6" slant cabber is not only fun but it's relatively clean too.

    Fun new toy! Love the way you can grind at any angle! My only gripes would be the need to switch out plates for each step, and the lack of a heavy duty grinding plate 600 for hardest agates and such) and a super fine plate (like a 10,000).

    • @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969
      @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your right lots of fun!
      Switching out plates takes less than a minute (especially if you organize your plates in advance)
      Grinding plates start at 60 grit and that's plenty and go up to 3000 grit then onto polishing pads which come in three different pads/pastes 14k, 50k & 100k for polishings agates and rocks it's the most inexpensive and efficient way of doing it.
      Unless you'd like to put out 2+ grand for a Cab King 🤴. If you have the bucks go for it.
      Thanks for your comment 😊

    I’m looking into getting one and I like the flat one and is there any difference between that and the slanted one ? And which one would you recommend? I sell Christmas trees so I can use my tips for a new toy haha. Can’t wait to get up to speed

    • @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969
      @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Big Easy ☺
      The differences in the flat lap and the slant cabbing machine is the slant cab
      1. Makes your working condition more comfortable. Because of it's 45 degree angle to you, it's easier on your back
      2. The 45 degree angle also makes it easier to get your eyes closer to your work and thus you see 👀 your work better.
      One thing is for sure, you won't be sorry you bought either, it will open up an entire new world to your Rockhounding experience!
      If you decide on the HiTech Diamond 💎 machine use our affiliate code "DENNYSEAJAY" and any accessories or products other than the actual machine itself and you'll save 10% on purchase.
      We also earn a small commission from your entire purchase if you mention us in the comments in your shopping cart.

      As far as your question, it really comes down to personal preference. It really depends on how you prefer to work, we chose the slant cabber due to space limitations, & ease of filming videos. Whichever style you chose, I know you will have fun creating beautiful works of art!

    • @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969
      @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for the love!
      When you say "grinder" your talking about shaping the agate or rock before polishing it right?
      There are some pretty good videos on TH-cam & FB for creating your own lap machine. You can also pre-shape for polish or the tumbler your agates and rocks with an inexpensive wet tile saw and diamond blade. (We did it like this for a while before diving into a machine like the 6" Hi Tech grinder/polisher you see in this video. Lastly there is polishing with a dremel type tool. These units are great because there are so many types attachments made for them.
      Check out the video by "The Agate Dad" on dremel shaping and polishing, it's a good one.
      Also if you haven't already, join some fb groups and ask around for even more alternatives.
      Good luck and happy rockhounding!

    Looking to buy one of these soon /Question / How long does the discs last on an average looks like a real good set up..Thankyou.

    • @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969
      @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Les, great question 🤔
      It's a bit hard to say "on average" how long will this or that disc will last. Because some folks (especially in the beginning) tend to use the wrong disc at the wrong time in the shaping and polishing their Treasure.
      I will say we have used other types of disc's on our 6" and they work well too. The Hi Tech Diamond discs which are electroplated (up to 3000 grit) and we recommend these last longer than the smoothing discs which are primarily for the upper grits (220 - 3000) tend to wear out a bit faster but are more inexpensive. All work great As an example we have not yet had to replace an electroplated disc so far so they definitely last longer.
      Also Les if you order and use our affiliate code "DENNYSEAJAY" you'll save 10% on accessories and supplies (only) but not the actual machine and yes we earn a very small % as well from the sale.

    Hello! My name's Michael, I love your videos! I have some stones I am trying to polish with a dremmel and also I am building my rock tumbler and homemade lapidary tool (machine in this video) I have few dremmel bits and not many grinding discs and am wondering if I can make some discs or pads using my powdered grits. 400 up to 1200 grit in powder form. Is there any way I can glue or apply my powder grits in order to make a polishing disc in a safe way so the grit doesn't just blow up in a cloud of dust? ( Dangerous to breathe) my idea is to make a large grinding disc and glue the powder on or make a cloth pad and apply the grits as I go. What would you recommend? ( I could just use it as intended in the rock tumbler) Thank you!!! Much love

    • @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969
      @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mike and thank you for your comment. You've taken on an ambitious couple of tasks. We've seen some pretty amazing home built tumblers that do great quantities of rocks at a time, that is very doable. For bigger rocks, we use a simple angle grinder with diamond disc pads. We purchased the angle grinder at Goodwill for less than $10. We purchased the entire set of diamond "hook & loop" type pads for less than $35 on Amazon through a good seller and after closely checking the user reviews of the product. As far as re-surfacing or starting out by surfacing our own pads or discs with diamond material I'm afraid that one we don't recommend it. 1. The cost factor (all totalled the labor, machines & supplies) would probably not be worth it. 2. The safety factor of the finished product would be questionable. Unless you have the knowledge, expertise and finances.
      Good luck to you Mike, we wish you good health and success in your endeavor
