Muhammad's marriage to his adopted son's ex wife is deeply problematic and reveals Muhammad to be a lustful pervert rather than a moral prophet So a little context and backstory is required here: When Muhammad married his first wife, Khadija, she had a slave boy working for her called Zayd, Zayd was kidnapped as a baby and sold into slavery. Muhammad and Zayd grew quite close and they had a loving father son relationship, they both were quite fond of each other. Later when Zayd's biological parents came to take their son with them, Zayd decided to stay with Muhammad instead, and Muhammad essentially adopted him and planned to make him his heir, as both of Muhammad's biological sons died in infanthood. Zayd was then known as Zayd ibn Muhammad (Zayd, son of Muhamad) Years later, Muhammad declared himself as a prophet, and after failing to achieve any success in his preaching in Mecca, migrated to Medina. He arranged Zayd's marriage to Zaynab (Muhammad's cousin), even though both of them didn't really want to marry one another, Muhammad essentially coerced them to get married against their will. (Quran 33:36) Unsurprisingly, the marriage wasn't going well. Then one day, Muhammad went to Zayd's house to speak to him, and when he went inside, he found Zaynab there, undressed, and Muhammad began to lust after Zaynab after seeing her like that. And there is no doubt about this. Muhammad's attraction to Zaynab is even confirmed in the Quran (33:37). Eventually Zayd and Zaynab got divorced, and Muhammad after the mandated waiting period, decided that he would marry Zaynab. Zaynab though was hesistant to marry Muhammad right then and there, and decided to pray and find an answer from God, Muhammad then went into her home, and said that Allah got them married and was the witness, and used this excuse to bang her right then and there. (Sahih Muslim, Book 008, Number 3330) Keep in mind, Zaynab was Muhammad's 7th wife by then, and Muhammad would marry more women and have sex slaves until his death. The people of Arabia were pretty disgusted by Muhammad's marriage and they considered it incest because Muhammad pretty much married his son's wife, so to evade some of this criticism, Muhammad said "Well, he's not really my son.....because God just told me that adopted sons aren't your true sons, and if you want to marry your adopted son's ex wife, thats totally cool by God!" And Muhammad was no longer Zayd’s father and Zayd had to change his name from Zayd, son of Muhammad to Zayd, son of Harith. (Quran 33;4, 5, 37). Feel free to check the sources if you want to confirm this. Other sources regarding Muhammad's attraction to Zaynab while she was married to Zayd: (The History of Al-Tabari, Volume VIII, pp. 2-3 ) So this begs the question: What kind of prophet becomes attracted to his son's wife, his own daughter in law? How can you call someone like that the holiest prophet of God? Muhammad's marriage to Zaynab is also the reason why adoption is abolished in Islam. Quran 33:4-- And Allah has not made adopted sons your true sons Quran 33:5-- Call them (orphans) by the name of their real fathers (This Quran verse along with some hadiths banned orphans from using the surname of their adoptive families, or calling themselves the son/daughter of their adoptive father.) Quran 33:6- And those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah than the [other] believers and the emigrants (this verse essentially forbids orphans from inheriting from their adoptive family) Abu Dharr states that he heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, "A person who knowingly claims a father other than his own has disbelieved. A person who claims to be from a people when he is not one of them will take his place in the Fire. ( Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 433) “Whoever claims to belong to someone other than his father will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, even though its fragrance may be detected from a distance of five hundred years.” Reference : Sunan Ibn Majah 2611 The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If somebody claims to be the son of any other than his real father knowingly, he but disbelieves in Allah, and if somebody claims to belong to some folk to whom he does not belong, let such a person take his place in the (Hell) Fire." Sahih al-Bukhari 3508 Whoever claims to belong to someone other than his father, upon him be the curse of Allah, the Angels and all the people, and on the Day of Resurrection Allah will not accept any nafil or obligatory act of worship from him. Sahih Bukhari 3172 There are dozens of more hadiths like this Because Muhammad wanted to marry Zaynab, adopted children as a consequence cannot call themselves the child of their adopted father, and if they do so, Islam condemns them to hell. They cannot take the surname of their adoptive family either. Also adopted children cannot inherit from their adoptive families, they can however get a bequest of maximum 1/3 split among all adopted children if their adoptive family chooses to do so. This is much less than what biological children normally get according to Islamic inheritance rules, and inheritance is mandatory for biological children, whereas it is optional for adopted children. Also if adoptive parents die before writing a bequest, the adopted children get absolutely nothing, whereas there is no issue for the biological children, they automatically get inheritance. Adopted children are also forbidden to freely interact with family members of the opposite gender once they reach puberty. Say a boy is adopted by a family with 2 girls, that boy once he reaches puberty, cannot be alone with his mother or sisters. He cannot hug them, touch them, he cant even shake hands with them. The mZainahother and sisters of the family would also have to wear a hijab around the boy. Because the boy can islamically get married to the mother or sisters, there has to be these restrictions. This begs the question: Why would an all powerful and benevolent God have such an issue with adoption, that he went out of his way to make the statement that "adopted sons are not your true sons" and put all these restrictions on them for no reason. How is the Islamic system of adoption more beneficial to society, than say the Western system? Why would God go out of his way to let humanity know its cool to marry your daughter in law? ......And Allah forgave Mohd's past and future sins....So Mohd had the freedom to sin...& screw any women his eyes fell on. It is called Adultery - everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Q33:37 -Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favour: “Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah.” But thou didst hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst fear Allah. Deuteronomy 22:25 "But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die.

The people of Arabia were pretty disgusted by Muhammad's marriage and they considered it incest because Muhammad pretty much married his son's wife, so to evade some of this criticism, Muhammad said "Well, he's not really my son.....because God just told me that adopted sons aren't your true sons, and if you want to marry your adopted son's ex wife, thats totally cool by God!" And Muhammad was no longer Zayd’s father and Zayd had to change his name from Zayd, son of Muhammad to Zayd, son of Harith. (Quran 33;4, 5, 37). So this begs the question: What kind of prophet becomes attracted to his son's wife, his own daughter in law? How can you call someone like that the holiest prophet of God?
Muhammad's marriage to Zaynab is also the reason why adoption is abolished in Islam.
Quran 33:4-- And Allah has not made adopted sons your true sons
Quran 33:5-- Call them (orphans) by the name of their real fathers (This Quran verse along with some hadiths banned orphans from using the surname of their adoptive families, or calling themselves the son/daughter of their adoptive father.)
Quran 33:6- And those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah than the [other] believers and the emigrants (this verse essentially forbids orphans from inheriting from their adoptive family)
Abu Dharr states that he heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, "A person who knowingly claims a father other than his own has disbelieved. A person who claims to be from a people when he is not one of them will take his place in the Fire. ( Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 433)
“Whoever claims to belong to someone other than his father will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, even though its fragrance may be detected from a distance of five hundred years.” Reference : Sunan Ibn Majah 2611
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If somebody claims to be the son of any other than his real father knowingly, he but disbelieves in Allah, and if somebody claims to belong to some folk to whom he does not belong, let such a person take his place in the (Hell) Fire." Sahih al-Bukhari 3508
Whoever claims to belong to someone other than his father, upon him be the curse of Allah, the Angels and all the people, and on the Day of Resurrection Allah will not accept any nafil or obligatory act of worship from him. Sahih Bukhari 3172

Because Muhammad wanted to marry Zaynab, adopted children as a consequence cannot call themselves the child of their adopted father, and if they do so, Islam condemns them to hell. They cannot take the surname of their adoptive family either.
Also adopted children cannot inherit from their adoptive families, they can however get a bequest of maximum 1/3 split among all adopted children if their adoptive family chooses to do so. This is much less than what biological children normally get according to Islamic inheritance rules, and inheritance is mandatory for biological children, whereas it is optional for adopted children. Also if adoptive parents die before writing a bequest, the adopted children get absolutely nothing, whereas there is no issue for the biological children, they automatically get inheritance.
Adopted children are also forbidden to freely interact with family members of the opposite gender once they reach puberty. Say a boy is adopted by a family with 2 girls, that boy once he reaches puberty, cannot be alone with his mother or sisters. He cannot hug them, touch them, he cant even shake hands with them. The mZainahother and sisters of the family would also have to wear a hijab around the boy. Because the boy can islamically get married to the mother or sisters, there has to be these restrictions.
This begs the question: Why would an all powerful and benevolent God have such an issue with adoption, that he went out of his way to make the statement that "adopted sons are not your true sons" and put all these restrictions on them for no reason. How is the Islamic system of adoption more beneficial to society, than say the Western system? Why would God go out of his way to let humanity know its cool to marry your daughter in law?

Q33:37 -Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favour: “Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah.” But thou didst hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst fear Allah.
