    Ah Christof, this warrants either a lifetime achievement award or an intervention. Given my own proclivities, however, I'm strongly biased toward the former and otherwise next-up for the latter. Our inventories intersect at the Movement Alp Tracks 106 with Hagan bindings - a sweet ride in the powder, yet ready to muscle some hardpack when necessary. These are my go-to boards when the forecast is 6" + and a big day is planned.

    This was great, but i think we need follow-up regarding "how to hide all your gear from your wife"
    btw. those Hagans are simply just pure dynamite. i got them last spring and they skied and performed so well, that i ended up buying a pair of Hagan's Boost 99's too.

    I noticed something; when your ski straps are that low on the skis while they're being stored, they can flatten the camber of your skis over time. I suggest keeping the ski strap up higher where the bases of the skis already touch together.

    GOAT quiver! The Dynafit Free 107 is in their lineup this year unchanged, they also have the Tigard 114 which is much heavier. I'd love to check out the Moonlights when they arrive :)

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila ปีที่แล้ว

      You know what, I think they changed it to the Radical 107. But you’re right, the ski itself is unchanged. And yes the Tigard is the new 114 big boy. Dynafit seems to change their lineups and designations every year now so I lose track😂

    Hi Christof, I bought a pair of Hagan Core's 89 straight from Hagan in Europe based on your Volcano trip review of them, also with the pin up 10 binding. Will use them on traverses mostly, got Urner haute route planned for this year:)

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila ปีที่แล้ว +2

  • @bylafleur
    @bylafleur ปีที่แล้ว

    You have to check out the Dynafit Tigard 130. I'm getting it soon, but from the reviews I've seen and the specs. A 1500g boot that skis like an alpine boot, and climbs like a lightweight touring boot with 67 degrees of motion. Damn.

    • @Lag10
      @Lag10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Based on skimo co’s actual specs, it’s 1678 grams which puts it ~150 grams heavier than the radical pro

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it won’t quite be 1500g but I’m sure it will be an awesome boot. And I love me a good Hoji-lock!

    • @bylafleur
      @bylafleur ปีที่แล้ว

      True! From what I understand the Tigard is closer to the Hoji that the Radical. Have you ever skied the Hoji, and do you find there's a big difference vs. the Radical? @@Lag10

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never skied the Hoji because the fit was so low volume that I couldn't handle them on my feet for more than a few minutes. I think the Radical comes pretty dang close to the hoji performance though, so much that it essentially replaced one version of the Hoji if I understand correctly.@@bylafleur

    Do you think Rossignol Escaper is a good ski for tight trees?

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't see it as limiting in any way for trees. If you're unsure about length maybe go for the shorter option if you're prioritizing maneuverability.

    @arnoldkotlyarevsky383 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for this. I am early in my touring career and I am just starting to realize that my 50/50 setup is.....more like a 90/10 setup that really shouldnt tour at all even though it can. I bought it used off of a guy in Colorado Springs - G3 Roamrs set up with G3 ion 12 bindings. What can you recommend for people in my situation? I am probably going to use the training weight to help me build up my fitness some more but it might be nice to upgrade to something touring oriented and reliable.

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You’ve summed up the realization that almost 100% of us went through as we started venturing into the backcountry, lol. Assuming you’re not a pro skier who’s gonna send 50 footers and ski Alaska spines at Mach 3, an example setup of like a Scarpa F1/Fischer Transalp/atomic backland xtd, paired with a 1300-1400ish gram ski in a 95-105mm waist and 200-350ish gram binding will get you a setup that tours/walks good enough you’ll WANT to go out and won’t dread the climbs, but performs really good and won’t leave you feeling like you’re survival skiing.

    What liner do you use in the Salomon Summit?

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The scarpa pro-flex evo worked great (stock liner for the scarpa f1). I just started using a liner in them from my brand new Lange XT3 tour pro. The stock liner in the newest version of that boot is inadequate in my opinion for that 4 buckle touring boot, but fit perfect and feels like a perfect match for the Salomon MTN Summit. Much better than the thin liner that comes with the summit. I couldnt stand that thing, no moldability and I could feel the shell through it while I skied.

    Hi from elsewhere….can you give stats in metric.

  • @runthesummit
    @runthesummit ปีที่แล้ว

    The F1 XT is my backcountry boot of choice this year and I was also thinking it might pair well with the Alp Tracks 106. Any thoughts on pairing the F1 XT with the Armada locator 104 which is about 150g heavier but $400 less expensive?

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On perfect blower powder days you’d be fine, but as soon as conditions become variable or challenging, you’ll easily recognize the limitations of the F1XT with the armadas. The alp tracks are just so light that you can get away with not having the mass in the boot but for ME, I want something at least in the F1 (1250-1300gm or more) category to maximize my utility and enjoyment with any heavier ski.

      @cnuila 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @cnuila
      @cnuila ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Still in my ski rack, but probably needs a new home, as I can't hardly justify keeping it with the new DPS 110. Nothing at all against the Locator, if I hadn't come upon a deal I couldn't pass up on the DPS, I would have happily kept it as my powder ski.

    - One’s ski quiver must always be one ski more than one’s current amount.
