Based off the reactions, if Graham had opened a second pack in Russian, I think we would have heard actual curse words. He went from "oh heck" to "oh hell" pretty quickly there.
The Russian localization is not as wacky as German but creature type "wapiti" for the Golden Hind gave me a chuckle. Also Godkiller Octopus is rendered as "Octopus, Killer of Gods", which is fair but it does make the card look like it's legendary :)

Launch the Fleet is great in my heroic commander deck. The effect is meh, but 1 mana +1 per target is REALLY good when you have a bunch of heroic creatures. Also, I also somehow had in my mind that Grim Guardian drained. Weird. Was fun to "play along" by trying to recognize the cards :).
Yeah, my friend built a casual RW Heroic deck around the end of Theros block, and Launch the Fleet was an all-star for activating all your heroic abilities at bargain-basement prices. The effect of the card itself wasn't insane, but 3W to trigger 4 heroic abilities was great, and if some of those heroes were Anax and Cymede or Phalanx Leader to pump the team, those 1/1s could swing in far above their paygrade.
Seeing that the word for instant in Russian is "мгновенное" (mgnovyennoye) and remembering that Russian is fine just starting words with three consonants in a row (mgn????)
Was expecting some funny pronunciation attempts like with German and French packs before, guess I'll just stick with Minotaur as this episode's fan service.
you cant even attempt a funny pronunciation because the characters dont use latin letters so you dont know how anything is pronounced, so theres nowhere to start
@@283leis unlike hieroglyphic alphabets, a lot of letters are similar both in writing and spelling. Hollywood movie makers even devised a special font to make Latin words resemble Cyrillic. It's not impossible.
I feel very uncomfortable with anything russian-related on this channel. I mean, every day I listen to recent news from the front of war that's going on nearby my country and then here I find some cards in their language... Like, I know these are just cards and it's nothing political at all but still the fact bothers me horrible. If a Russian person is going to PAX West and would be enough of a fan of an English-language MTG/comedy channel/community to give them a pack of Journey into Nyx at said event, I think the chances of them supporting Putin and/or the war in Ukraine are probably extremely low. I find it helpful to try and remember that the wills and sentiments of the citizens of a country are not always represented by their leadership, especially in undemocratic countries or countries with extremely polarised politics - which at the moment seems to be just about all of them. Not everything that is Russian has to be painted as inherently evil just because Putin is a psychopathic autocrat and his vision of Russia is incompatible with a 21st century globalist reality. Plenty of people within Russia realise just how horrific and unnecessary this war is and have done all in their power to protest or to leave, but they have been repressed by a government desperate to appear in control and unified in the face of international condemnation and a humiliatingly inept invasion attempt against a much smaller nation.

Yeah I was looking at the octopus and thinking “hey wait is that a legendary, it has a comma in it”
I noticed the creature type and first word of the card name were the same so I thought it was like "Ooze, Something"

Love Nyx, mainly cause it was the set that I returned to Magic to. Even if the pack weren't great (money wise) always enjoy seeing all the cards.

I’d say Font of Ire is a faster Lava Axe since you can deal the damage a turn earlier, they just see it coming earlier.
