I remember at the prerelease, the guy next to me got a god pack and everyone just lost it. It was amazing.

chris p he got a god pack. Yes. He could have literally just stood up and walked out. He still wins.
Calm down Buttons. His $20-$30 prerelease fee turned into a pack worth $200 tops. Not quite enough to retire. And I’d rather get playable cards at a prerelease than the most expensive card in the set.
It was a great experience for him I’m sure, would be fun to open a God pack; however, losing an entire pack of commons/uncommons makes it harder to build a deck.
If he got 1 of each mythic, and the duplicates were the bulk mythics or garbage gods, then the god pack contained 2-4 cards that made his deck and several of those are cards that were the top end of his mana curve..
Kruphix and Pharika prob aren’t good in sealed. Sage of Hours, Worst Fears, nope. That’s 4/10. Ajani? Maybe (would play well with Godsend) but even hitting the ultimate is interesting. So you’re hoping the match ends on time?
I remember at a draft we did things a bit different, back during Oath of the Gatewatch my lgs had a 'whacky' draft where we opened 3 random packs and I got a battle for zendikar, oath of the gatewatch, and a dragons of tarkir. Opened the OGW one first and I got a Fetid Heath expedition and was quite happy with just that. Then, I proceed to open the BFZ pack and what did I see? A Prairie Stream expedition also! At this point 'winning' the draft hardly was a concern for me as the value opened was sweet and so unlikely to happen, from the third pack it was simply a bonus to see an Atarka's Command too.

Rudy's the only MTG re-seller who opens packs beforehand, stuffs in a bunch of high-value cards and then reseals and sells the packs.

That's a pretty fat win, seeing as one could get two boxes of Journey Into Nyx for like 170$.

Most Hydras are green, a few are red, a few are R/G. Most hydras are basically “cast it, must survive until your next turn, then when you attack, probably double the number of counters on it.”
The Jellyfish added blue mana, flying, and card draw to be good. It also exists in a standard with tons of dual lands, and gets flying into green decks and trample into blue. And it isn’t legendary either.
Does it really count as a hydra?

I’m just saying that it basically violates the “creature-type wheel.”
Hydras, beasts, and jellyfish are 3 fairly low play creature types.
I mentioned the non-legendary as a bonus vs most other creatures you intend to cast for 6+ mana.
WotC tacked on random blue mechanics to a random creature type.
They realized U/G was weak, so they said “let’s just make the best card in the set U/G.”

That's the feeling I know. I opened three boxes of Nyx when it came out, best I ever pulled was a Sage of Hours. These boxes were unbalanced or something.

Thematically, the Theros set is my favorite since.. I don't know, back when Urza and Mirage was around. Loved the Greek theme.

That's not completely true...there are always some level of complainers, but certain sets attract a lot more, and others like Dominaria, or even the current Ravnica sets are generally well recieved. Perceived power level is a big factor, which isn't necessarily the best reason, but hey...

First time I saw one of your videos it was an Eldritch Moon mass opening...you stood in a pile of wrappers and showcased all the pulls.
FYI, the most expensive card in the set is Athreos, God of Passage at $28 market price non-foil and $80 for the foil. Mana Confluence is $10 for the regular and $17 for the foil. At this stage I have no idea where Rudy's Hairy Arms get their prices from.

Hey Rudy, something recently happened at my school which has angered many and I am reaching out to as many people as I can to get this issue in the spot light. I would love if you could address this.
Hey everyone, So last year my math teacher set up a games club at school where those who were fraternised for playing mtg could go and play in an area of safety. Now my teacher put a lot of effort into this game club and last week a parent of a student sent a complaint email to the school of not just that they didn’t want their son playing the game, but how the game should be banned since it’s a catholic school. Obviously the parents are clearly religious extremists but the missionary order that runs our school (the oblates) banned any games that involve casting spells/creatures and demons, this including mtg and D&D. Previous to this our school has heavily indorse this club, having school competitions that contribute to faction points however it is the missionary order being the oblates which has banned it. Now I am absolutely appalled by this, I’ve researched this issue and the Catholic Church isn’t against mtg or D&D yet this happened, all because one parent complained. Now at the beginning of this year, my step dad who I played magic with took his own life and for a causal player who doesn’t have much time out of school due to studying hours, I now have no one to play with since I can’t play at the games club now. This issue angers me and upsets me and all I ask of you if that it is possible video on this cause I want this issue to go viral and show that mtg isn’t bad and what they have done has caused more damage than what they intended to prevent. Thanks for the support and please share my message everyone as the more people know about this, the more likely this will change. FYI the school is Mazenod College Perth Australia.

Its in Rudy's benefit to show strong box openings because it directly promotes patreon support and purchases.
If 90% of his opening videos were of his patreons getting hosed and making 2/3rd their money in EV do you think we'd get so many of these videos? It would basically turn into an anti-commercial for his main product/service.
With product that's opened infrequently due to box costs those are definitely legit (the saga block openings being a prime example of legit). But with stuff like Ultimate Masters there's nothing stopping him from choosing to showcase stronger openings and eat the losses as 'marketing costs'.
So, yes, based on nothing but instinct, I think Rudy does doctor his setup to some degree. Whether he does this through choosing to upload only specific opens on camera or through opening extra boxes. It's great if I'm wrong and Rudy is doing everything 100% legit. That just means he's consistently lucky with newer product openings which makes for some great youtube as well as marketing for his business. A happy coincidence that benefits everyone.
This is a good set. Way better to watch open than Ice Age. If people were into drafting... like real mtg fans, this box would be 200... I would pay 20 bucks to draft that block tonight... except, with all the game stores in a 20 mile radius... none of their cultivated fan base actually wants to draft...

Can someone explain this guy and his channel? I watched the video he made that explains why he makes the videos but I still don't understand how he has so many boxes and cards? Dos he buy bulk amounts at a lower price then resell them to people and open the boxes he sells to make the videos? Or is he just extremely rich and the stuff he sells/opens is from his personal collection?

damn, it was only one in 60? my friend and I got a god pack in a box we split. We had herd about them and said before we opened it that if we got one we would split it by drafting it. Obliviously we were really stoked about it but I thought it was more like 1 in 10 or something.

Rudy the set was smaller so the duplicates are normal - i opened my own box and had 6 sets of duplicates including 2 keranos’s
