1/ Am right in thinking that the shop owner could not accept Kamal's card because it was a CREDIT card? And the shop owner only accepted CASH?
2/ IF Kamal's card was a DEBIT card, did he not know, when he came to the shop, that he did not have enough money on his card to pay for 70 metres of the necessary cable? You WOULD know if you had 800 dollars or not. 800 dollars is a lot of money in Iran.
To have some picture of how much such cables cost in the UK, I did a little research.
"Autowiring Arctic Grade Blue Flex 3183A 2.5mm2 3 Core Outdoors Heavy Duty 25AMP 240V Mains PVC Cable Wire" costs 43.95 GBP for 20 meters. Therefore 193.58 dollars for 70 meters.
Another brand, "4MM 3 CORE SWA ARMOURED CABLE 6943X", costs 154.99 GBP for 50 meters. Therefore, 3.10 GBP per 1 meter, hence 217 GBP per 70 meters, i.e. 274 US dollars.
Nowhere near 800 dollars.
I do not wish to appear unnecessarily suspicious, and I do not know whether the cables I saw are the right kind for Kamal's needs. However, what the operator said will be needed, i.e. 800 dollars, is nearly FOUR times the sum for 70 metres for similar cables in the UK.
Is that possible? Perhaps it is - I don't know. You may want to do your own research before you commit yourself.

I do believe he doesn’t really earn much from the you tube channel like the other channels do because they have professional operators managing the finances and seeking sponsors to provide for their channels
Leila is doing a great job but yet has to have the knowledge and experience in captivating ongoing sponsorship for Hut so at this point they are totally reliant on the viewers.
One must remember costs for filing the videos and purchasing necessary equipment to keep the videos rolling and paying for translations is an outgoing cost so please be mindful of this.

I have done some research, and the cost in the UK would have been around 3 GBP per metre, hence some 210 GBP for 70 metres. This would therefore make around 250 U.S. dollars. Nowhere near 800 dollars the operator had claimed was needed.
ALL my messages regarding this discrepancy disappeared immediately after I posted them. This is disturbing and indeed alarming.
Please don't be bamboozled into anything.

En guise de conclusion, les pratiques frauduleuses par le biais de cette chaîne afin d'usurper la crédibilité du public, pourrez également vous réserver bien des surprises !!! OK

Je suis tout-à-fait d'accord avec vous! Voilà ce que j'ai écrit hier à une spectatrice:
"Ask. yourself the most basic questions: would a young, mostly unemployed semi-nomad have money to buy sophisticated equipment to start up a channel and make videos? No, the equipment was obviously loaned to him, as is the case with many other channels. Would such a semi-nomad have enough education to edit the videos, and run a channel with subtitles in many languages? Again, I very much doubt it - Kamal (or rather the creators/operators) said he only speaks Farsi. My comments (in English - I'm bilingual) have sometimes been answered in other languages.
Furthermore, would Kamal be capable of editing the videos AND answering all the comments in many languages AFTER a day of working on the hut and/or garden, going on expeditions etc.? How could he? His day would have to have 48 hours! Also, have you not noticed that some videos are made over several days? It can be seen very clearly because of the clothes the family members wear - sometimes the little girl has different clothes in different parts of a single video.
The channel is very obviously run by people who are educated enough to do so. It is crystal clear to me that they also have different schemes for thanking people and for answering generally. Read the individual answers and thanks, and you will see - they range from "thank you" to "thank you my friend", "thank you dear mother" and so on. The graduated scheme is so obvious as to be amusing. Yet many people think they have some truly personal connection with Kamal. It is often pitiable to see that.
As you say, the operators' role is to keep the flow of contributions, and to pass a percentage of it on to the subject, and of course they take out a fee for themselves - they must recoup their investment. Kamal is an intelligent, attractive young man and he is obviously valuable to the creators of this channel.
As for Leila, ask yourself this: can a girl of 12-13 be "experienced" in "promoting" this channel? Does she speak English, let alone other languages? All such work must be done by the owners of the channel who are experienced and educated enough to do so. I am a highly experienced researcher, as well as a journalist, and I see all the obvious signs as to how the channel is run. It is no different from other such channels - except here, viewers do actually see the work on the hut and the garden, observe visits to the city, to the doctor etc.
Yet even during such events, things do not always ring true. Perhaps you recall how some policemen visited Kamal and his daughter in the old hut, and the family was evicted. The whole eviction scene was filmed, down to Kamal signing some document. Do you really think the
police would allow the filming of this? I have serious doubts about that.
As for donations that are given, I have never explored this, nor how they are pinned to the comments page etc., with names attached to donations. I am interested, for various reasons, in the description of rural life in that part of northern Iran, and am happy to provide advice, if and when I can, but I do not consider contributing financially.
If you say there aren't many donors out of some 23,000 viewers, I must take your word for it. I'm not saying that any donors are deprived of seeing their donations listed. Of course they would comment on the lack of any mentions.
However, I have read worrying comments by some viewers, such as "Not too long ago you were given a lump sum of 299.00 dollars for a big chicken coop and nutritious food. You did neither. Months ago I sent you a little money towards eventually getting electricity and asked others to pitch in. Two other people did." This person then declined to contribute any further.
Well, ask yourself, Linda Thompson, WHERE did that money go? How much of it went to Kamal and family? 299 dollars is a large amount of money in rural northern Iran.
I'm a university graduate, and a highly experienced researcher and journalist. And I see warning signs left, right and centre. The fact that some 10 of my posts were deleted last Saturday speaks for itself.
This is MY view on the issue. I would advice caution."

With respect, you should have painted the house WHITE, outside and inside, and put plants om the roof. That would have detracted quite a bit of the sun. Dark colours attract it. You should have also put in more windows, to ventilate the place. Even such small measures would have helped considerably.

1/ Am right in thinking that the shop owner could not accept Kamal's card because it was a CREDIT card? And the shop owner only accepted CASH?
2/ IF Kamal's card was a DEBIT card, did he not know, when he came to the shop, that he did not have enough money on his card to pay for 70 metres of the necessary cable? You WOULD know if you had 800 dollars or not. 800 dollars is a lot of money in Iran.
To have some picture of how much such cables cost in the UK, I did a little research.
"Autowiring Arctic Grade Blue Flex 3183A 2.5mm2 3 Core Outdoors Heavy Duty 25AMP 240V Mains PVC Cable Wire" costs 43.95 GBP for 20 meters. Therefore 193.58 dollars for 70 meters.
Another brand, "4MM 3 CORE SWA ARMOURED CABLE 6943X", costs 154.99 GBP for 50 meters. Therefore, 3.10 GBP per 1 meter, hence 217 GBP per 70 meters, i.e. 274 US dollars.
Nowhere near 800 dollars.
I do not wish to appear unnecessarily suspicious, and I do not know whether the cables I saw are the right kind for Kamal's needs. However, what the operator said will be needed, i.e. 800 dollars, is nearly FOUR times the sum for 70 metres for similar cables in the UK.
Is that possible? Perhaps it is - I don't know. You may want to do your own research before you commit yourself.
