    In this video, you said that apron is separated from TX by 2 solid white lines.

    How do we make FSX display those markings? I typically see the branch-off centerlines, but when they say "park at gate 2"... I've never seen a number displayed anywhere. And some airfields have #1 on the far right (such as KBUF in sim), and some have #1 on the far left.

    You might want to review your audio setup and listen to the playback before uploading. This video had the audio going up and down in level and clarity and there was a lot of popping noises on the mic when using hard sounds (like p's and b's) that could be fixed with a pop filter between the person talking and the mic.

      I believe you are referring to the plosives, or pops, that peak out the audio signal. A pop filter, usually about $15 USD, is all it takes to keep plosive sounding words (e.g. Pop, buTT, PLenty, TiTle, and any sound with hard consonants) from overwhelming the microphone diaphragm and sending a peak level signal to the recording device. A simple $15 USD tool I wish more amateurs would invest in.

    At the start when you said an apron may also be referred as a ramp, wouldn't the most common word for it be a stand as they use over ATC for example: "EZY5225 stand 10 requesting push and start"?

    • @Doofer911
      @Doofer911  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about leaving the ramp and how are ground vehicles alerted that a plane is about to enter or leave a certain ramp area?

    • @Doofer911
      @Doofer911  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When leaving, an aircraft will turn on it's Beacon/Anti-Collision lights which is the Red light above and below the center of the plane. This is basically warning ground handling crew "The engines are about to be started/The engines are running, STAY BACK!". At larger airports, sometimes the baggage handlers will stand out at the wingtips during pushback and give hand signals asking any vehicles to stop. As for arriving at a gate, it's just common sense. Planes have right of way at an airport so if you're driving along and you think a plane is going to turn into a gate, stop, wait to see what the plane does and then react accordingly.

    I've seen the marshals drive across taxiways before at MAN. Wasn't even on the designated roads.

    • @alternatelives8559
      @alternatelives8559 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some taxiways are okay, as long as they're not in the Movement Area.
      Movement Areas are under ATC direction, while Non-Movement areas are not. With some exceptions, all ramps, access roads, as well as some T-Hangers and low-traffic taxiways are not controlled, and GSE can move as they please through them.
      That being said, all aircraft still have right-of-way, so under no circumstance should a pilot have to stop the plane for a ground vehicle (only exception being an emergency vehicle with lights on).
      Source: am airport ramp worker with driving experience.

    • @Doofer911
      @Doofer911  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible that you were watching other ground ops. I remember seeing a car driving around London City Airport regularly to shoot fireworks into the air to scare off birds. Even so, they have radios in the car and contact ATC for permission to use Taxiways, cross runways etc.

    Pleeease fix the sound for next time. it is very tiring. First there are the pop-sounds and general audio quality (nasal, lack of high frequencies). It sounds like you are using a cheap microphone or headset, quite close to the mouth.
    Then, because it is close and the mic is fixed or handheld, as your head/mouth mouth moves around in front of the mic, the sound volume constantly changes a lot. basically every quarter second you talk in the mic, then left to the mic, than top of the mic, then bottom, etc. maybe depending on how you angle the mouth if it is a headset.

    • @Doofer911
      @Doofer911  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for the detailed description! That really helps me out :) I've listened again carefully and I understand what you mean. Unfortunately I do just have a headset microphone however I'll look at getting a much better quality microphone in time for next week. As for nasal sounding, that might just be my voice, not much I can do about it I'm afraid.

    • @ygrabo
      @ygrabo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i am sure it is (also) the mic. Put the mic farther out (so the distance becomes more constant and the sound more consistent) instead of in front of the mouth maybe? this will also get rid of the "pop" sounds.

      Thanks for addressing my question. What you see is mirror image signals from the pilots view? So if the pilot needs to go left,( directions from groundsman) the groundsman signals waive right? Thank you

    • @Doofer911
      @Doofer911  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah ok, yes that's correct. The groundsman will wave to the right if they want the plane to turn left. Remember that they will be looking at the front of the plane as it comes in to park.
      And if the groundsman wants the plane to turn to the right, they will wave left.

    Aprons and Tarmac are the same things?

    • @Doofer911
      @Doofer911  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah essentially. The official name is Apron, the word Tarmac came after a news channel did a story about a hijacking and said that the plane was parked on the "Tarmac" hence why you might hear that word used instead of Apron.

    The audio sucks.... The video is very well explained.

    • @Doofer911
      @Doofer911  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heads up.... you'll get a lot further in life by presenting your concerns in a more constructive manner. For example, instead of saying "The audio sucks".... You could have said "The audio quality didn't match the educational value of the video, it may benefit you to double check your audio settings for future videos."
      And my response to you has been a constructive one.... instead of telling you to fuck off and don't try to criticize anyone if you haven't tried making videos yourself. :)

      I can't at the moment but I know there is a 787 addon aircraft in development. Once that gets released I'll probably take a look at it.
