I know many people don’t agree with keeping bunnies outside, and thats okay:) We are doing our best to make sure they're happy, healthy, spoiled and protected.

My rabbit is indoor, but sometimes people don't have the space or whatever the reason may be, or some are just happier outside. I just want to comment on how CUTE YOUR BUNNIES ARE!

I think it’s great that your bunnies are outside. My rabbits were always outside, but one thing that concerns me is the wire fencing is quite large and predators could get in through that you might want to get a wire a small square inch fencing to go over what you presently have
YES finally someone who understands. I completely agree with you. Me and my sister keep our rabbits outside and with the proper care rabbits can do just fine outside and they love it. I would say yes it is easier and sometimes better to keep rabbits indoors because you don't have to worry about it being to hot or cold, or about wild animals, or bugs. But with the proper care they can thrive and do just as good outside as they do inside.
Yes they can thrive and do perfectly fine outside but it is definitely better because just hear me out 1 like you said you won’t worry about the hot or cold because they can die really easily either way 2 they can die simply from being scared and there more vulnerable to that outside 3 I think they should be free roamed because if you think about it if you have a teacup dog even tho it’s just a teacup would you put a dog in a cage? Would u put it in a “rabbit hutch?” I would it seems like she has lots of room for them to play but still

@PupcrazytalesYT who sold you that idea? Petsmart? Petco? Rabbits/bunnies live, breed, and thrive outdoors as they have naturally for thousands of years. If you want to bring them in, that’s your choice. It’s goes the same for dogs, chickens, cats, hamsters, mice, reptiles, fish, literally anything. If you can replicate and create a safe and interactive enclosure for them, they can live a long happy life outdoors just as they can inside. Education goes a long way
I totally AGREE with you Vera. I keep my bunny outside and he grew a beautiful ,fluffy fur during winter. He really loves being outside and he is protected with a beautiful roof over his head. Great job, beautiful and spacious cage. keep going!
My rabbit lives outside [waiting to actually build my hutch before adding another] he was so depressed until he started living outside. I also got depressed and angry with him when he was living inside. Our bond is so much stronger now having him outside.
Same with me it just stresses me out with my bun inside and I live on a ranch so it’s not that bad cleaning his compared to horses cages😂😂
My last rabbit, she was way more active and happy living outside than when she was inside.
@PupcrazytalesYT They are not. The only differences between wild and domestic rabbits are superficial/appearance-based. Their digestive system and behaviours are incredibly similar. Outdoor rabbits (if housed in appropriately sized, predator-proof enclosures) have the opportunity to act on natural instincts a lot more than inside rabbits. Rabbits need to dig and explore and being outside gives them vastly more opportunities to do that. Being on grass/dirt is better for the alignment of their feet. All the rabbits I've had live outside have been more active and alert and excitable. They love sunbathing. They love feeling the breeze. They love watching the rest of the world go by. A diet comprised of more grass is actually better for their guts and rabbits who eat more grass than hay have less kidney/calcium problems. There's natural foraging in most gardens. I also find there are less hazards outside than inside. We also tend to keep our homes too warm for rabbits.
Of course, there are exceptions to this and if your rabbits cant be vaccinated or the climate is just too hot/cold (I live in the UK where it rarely gets above 30C and 20C is considered a pretty hot day) I wouldn't recommend keeping them outside. However, I believe that when it's an option, its a very good option that shouldn't be shamed.

@HowlingTales #roadto1k indoors animals? Are you CRAZY??!! Every cat is happiest when it can roam outside. The same goes for dogs. Animals get depressed when they are indoors all the time! Lennon the bunny is a spoiled city girl with no idea about what nature even is.

Keeping rabbits outside in a safe and fenced-in area like this is completely fine and you obviously have no idea about animals or rabbits for that fact.

I keep my bunnies outside too and they are very happy 😊. I just have two tips: use a closed secure cardboard box or proper carry box for transporting and a a small fence that you can step over where you walk in through the door to stop them getting out but overall great video.

I recently got bunnies and the guy that have them to us has always kept them outside and has never had a problem, except with foxs a while back but he reenforced their area and it's all good now. We're keeping them outside too! Can't give them as good as a home inside. They've got plenty of shade plus hiding spots. They love it
We've an indoor bun free roam and it's hard in winter as heating he gets to hot so we all are cold. Bunnies dint do the heat well. But he's epileptic so is special needs

I was suprised how many people on youtube say you are a bad owner when u keep the buns outside. Me personally have always kept mij little friends outside. Also most people here in the netherlands keep them outside. When its really really cold we get them indoors en take them outside when the temp is good enough.

The choice of inside or outside is all yours. Rabbits have a very thick coat, one of the thickest clothing coats. They are not 'made' to live indoors, in the wild they also survive well in the open air. Of course you can also keep them indoors, but don't worry that they can't stand the weather. It is important to pay attention to the rabbits that are outside in very hot and very cold weather.
I myself keep the rabbits outside all year round with some winter protection and this works fine (for 10+ years). Suppose you buy a rabbit for outside, then it is wise to check beforehand whether the rabbit is used to being outside or not.
Rabbit fur isn't just for fun, it actually has a function. And what harm does fresh air do? Again, the choice is yours, just know that both options are very possible and will do no harm.

For the longest time, I disagree with having your bunny outside! You changed my mind! My bunny (moose) hates outside, so ig the outside thing isn’t for him :/ I think outside and inside set ups is literally based on your rabbit. I will definitely subscribe

I whole-heartedly agree with this. As long as dogs or cats won't torment them from outside the cage. I was walking my rabbit and a dog on the other side of the fence ran towards us excitedly, gave my poor rabbit a scare that almost took his life. Rabbits are sensitive creatures so we have to make them feel secure, I'm glad you're able to make your rabbits feel safe and loved outside.
I love lennonthebunny and all of my bunnies are inside but I think it’s fine for rabbits to be outside especially if they’re called for and have a safe place for them to be!! Your bunnies are really happy and you have a lot of space for them!

Lennon is a city bunny. He couldn’t live outside if he wanted to so Lorelei teaches indoor rabbit doctrine because she has probably never had anything to compare it to. Personally, I think the indoor vs outdoor debate is silly. It’s all about what works for the bunny and owner.
@@timothytherealenglishspot9613 it honestly does depend on breeds too Bc some have less fur and some have a lot. You don’t have a bunny with bearly any fur living outside during winter and you don’t want bunny with so much hair living outside in the heat. Also depends on how safe the enclosure is.

We have chickens and rabbits outside! I had a bunny as a kid that lived outside for 14 years! We bring them inside to play and cuddle then they go back outside!
I keep my bun inside! But honestly your bunny care is amazing. The pen is super large they have lots of toys and seem to be take man care of very well!

I completely agree with you! There is such an overpopulation of rabbits and so many get euthanized every year. If you can give them a great life outdoors so they are safe, comfortable, happy and healthy then that is all that matters!! The alternatives of euthanasia or being stuck in a small space or cage indoors is unhumane. Bunny proofing your entire home and having a bunny living doors is not always possible but you can still provide a great life for them. I love the space you provide to your buns and they are obviously happy with all those binkies & zoomies!

My house bunny gets free roam in my house where he lives and eats breakfast on my couch with my husband and I each morning. He also sleeps safely on our m bed at night. Bunnies are basically cats. Cats don't belong outdoors either, and neither belong in cages.
RAbbits have thick fur and it makes sense to be outdoor as long as you provide proper shelter away from sun, heat, wetness, wind, or extreme cold. They definitely need hidey box to burrow in when it gets cold. Use hay, straws, or even paper bedding to keep them warm and toasty 7:40 is a happy bunny !
@PupcrazytalesYT they can just not as well as most animals. Speaking from experience, rabbits can do just fine without supplementary cooling in temps up to 80F (this may very depending on breed and condition) and when adding precautions for Tempe turns higher mine have done just fine up to 105F
Indoor rabbits last 8 to 14 years. Outside rabbits last 3 to 6 years...... so you tell me which is better......
@@jacobhughes563 Rabbit life expectancy is based on breed. Like a dogs lifespan is. Most outdoor rabbits are meat mutts and have a shorter lifespan, it has to do with genetics, not care. Your data is flawed, or you just cant interpret it. Pedigree breeds typically are reserved for indoors as pets and have the longer life expectancy, hence the pedigree breed. You wont really see someone putting a $300 bunny outdoors full time, that's more than i paid for my cat. My dog will likely only live to be 8-10 years old based on genetics but I've had dogs live to be 14-18, am i neglecting him? See how dumb that sounds.

I think it's a North American thing because North American rabbits carry diseases pet rabbits have no defenses against, because they're European. Everyone keeps them outside in the UK
The only problem with keeping certain animals and doing reasearch about them is that everyone has different OPINIONS on pet care. And you kind of have to figure out who's opinion you agree with most. i love lennon the bunny. Lorelei provides MANY amazing FACTS in her videos but a couple OPINIONS that me and other people don't agree with 100%.
I didn't know this was so debated. In my culture animals stay outside too. We used to have 5 rabbits that did great outdoors. It wasn't until I started researching recently that I realized how fragile the internet makes rabbits out to be. If I never had them, I'd assume they'd drop dead over the slightest illness but ours were never sick. I'm from the Caribbean so they only came inside for hurricanes.
If I got a rabbit, sure I'd keep in indoors (cause I'm a hermit and barely go out) but your enclosure is waaaay bigger than 90% of the indoor rabbit spaces I've seen.

Caribbean is a pretty warm place. You can't leave a rabbit out in -5 degree weather...so it really depends on where you live and also the purpose of keeping your rabbit. Up in new england winters are harsh and summers are humid. So the get thick coats to try to protect during winter but then can't shed them fast enough before the eighty degree weather comes so they die of heat stroke. We keep ours in an outside enclosure during nice spring, summer, and fall days. But during the hard months of winter we bring them inside. And also on horribly hot humid days we bring them inside. They are litterbox trained, making cleaning inside and outside a breeze, and we don't leave hay all winter for bedding. It also really depends on how you clean up after your animals too if a smell is a problem inside. But we have five. Some cultures also brought ALL their livestock inside for winter and created barns, stalls, and even spots by the homestead fire. I bet if that dad owned a dog...he would be inside ....and trained...also people up here keep them in bulk outside for meat, fur, or breeding purposes and they either don't live long enough anyways, or get sold fast.
Totally agreed with you. The real and honest truth animal are meant to be outside, with natures, not like us living all our entire life in 4 walls. As long as you keep them safe and warm during the winter like this lady on her video. Animal inside a house is not their natural habitat period.
House rabbits are supposed to be free roamed in the house tho. Like cats. If someone is keeping their bunny contained full time (whether in an entire room or xpen), that's a failure of bunny ownership imo.

Theirs a reason why barn cats exist as shelter adopt out cats that can't live as house pets as they will pee on everything. It's a case by case thing.... birds shouldn't be caged ether. I'd have them free run in my whole house but I have dogs so the compromise is my budgies get a whole room to themselves 24/7
I hadn’t realize this was such a topic amongst rabbit owners. My bunny I had in the past did great out doors, we built his hutch in the back yard, he was very happy. In the summer or winter if it was super hot / cold he would come inside, and stay In his little area I had for him when needed. But he was very content in life

I agree with you that bunnies can live outside happily and healthy. I have two bunnies (one is 5.5 yrs and the other is 3.5, turning 4 this month) that aren't able to live in our house but live in our climate controlled garage (it's basically indoor/outdoor) and they're very happy in the garage. They seem to hate going outside, so most of the time they're kept in the garage. Your bunnies look very happy and healthy living outside.😍
We live in the Midwestern U.S. and it's usually warm here during the Summer and cold during the Winter. We use a space heater during the Winter to keep the garage warm for the bunnies and a large fan during the Summer. We unfortunately don't have any vaccines available for rabbits yet where I live, so I usually just prevent bugs by cleaning out the bunnies' litter boxes frequently and setting up natural fly traps with vinegar and apple cider in a bottle.
Exactly. Free Roaming/Keeping them indoors is an OPTION. Having your bunny outside may not work FOR YOU, but the bunnies are obviously happy and have plenty of space.
Ok I know this video was a while ago but I just wanna say that the reason people (including myself) say bunnies shouldn't be outside is because in most cases (not yours) they or put a tiny hutch with no attention or proper food or anything but in cases like yours I think you are doing amazing!! And I have no issues at all with bunnies being outside if they are cared for and loved and have all the things they need😊 good job👏👏 also your bunnies or adorable🥰
I do watch lennon the bunny but I don't agree they should live inside because bunny need to be outside they are more joyful when they are outside all animals need to be outside.
Yes they can be joyful outside, I take my rabbit out about once a month supervised, but letting them live there 24/7 is a lot they can get scared to death by a predator or get hyperthermia if they get to wet, or disease, fleas, tics and much more. I get her point, she said they are destructive, yes but you can bunny proof if you give them enough attention they won’t feel the need to destroy anything, if you think it’s smells, it’s not the rabbit it the litter box rabbits really dont have a smell. I personally don’t agree with leaving them outside if she wants them to live a long life I would bring them indoors but they are her responsibility not mine I don’t get to tell her what to do.

There are some animals like Guinea pigs hamsters mice and rats that have to live indoors

I’m pretty sure what Lennon is trying to get across is that keeping inside is just much more safer and decreases the chance of death, she gets across that domestic rabbits die much easier than wild rabbits and are very much different. (Just want to say I love how much you care about them!😍)
I used to watch Lennon and get so stressed because I cannot do what she does for my rabbit. Then I tried one time in my basement with a large area. And he was so depressed. He hates being inside. I tried my backyard deck and loves it! In the winter I keep him in the garage and again he has so much space to hide and I provide him with hay since he can’t eat the dandelions and grass outside, again rabbits love being outdoors they’re exotic animals…
I have 9 bunnies in a 8' x5' cage and they love it, they make a mess when they are in our house by throwing litterboxs and food and one of our rotweilers trys playing and gets to rough. As soon as we built them a pen outside with 3 different coops and a big dig box, 2 litter box's tons of stuffed toys, wooven baskets and balls, pinecones etc with 2 huge hay bags and we give them pumpkins and gourds we grow in the fall. We see them playing together, grooming each other and binkying all the time, it just depends on your location for weather a proper winterized cage that's predator proofed, along with the bunnie and amount of time spent with them. I have them out everyday playing inside or on the lawn so they are happy:)

As long as they have a nice covered bunny run and coop that is well secured they will be perfectly fine.
So I like Lennon’s channel and all, but I also don’t agree with some of her opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and has their own experiences though, which means ours is valid as well. I’ve raised rabbits about 16 years now, and even though I’ve only had a few as indoor pets they’ve all been loved and cared for. I do breed for show, and enjoy assisting in the creation and ARBA recognition of the teddywidder breed. That does not mean my rabbits live in nasty, dirty cages and aren’t taken care of. They all get out to play, have good sized cages, and I don’t overbreed my does. They get toys, fresh veggies and hay, as well as groomed and held/petted everyday. Your hunnies are well taken care of, they have amazing homes. And my indoor bunny I have LOVES being outside, she loves being with the other bunnies as well. I’m sick of keyboard warriors coming down on videos and people like you. I’m 34, and I don’t care anymore what other people say and think. Keep your head up, stick to your own thoughts. There will always be someone like that in your life

Keeping outside is better for bunnys feet. And they can do holes and do all bunny things better. I have my bunnys inside for now but when i move better house i will set them out. Them will be so much happier outside. No fear of electic stuff. And here in Finland in winter can be -30 outside and bunnys survive cause they will get winter coats. And ofcourse has warm vinter houses. In Finland its really common that bunnys lives in horse stables or other barns outside. Everyone has their own opinions and ways take care of animals. Who wouldnt have the best for their pets? All good for you and chikens&bunnies❣️
Sorry but I disagree with you, it’s very dangerous keeping rabbits outside, a Predator could easily get in and bunnies have a hard time controlling their body temperature, so keeping them outside disturbs that, and they can catch a lot of diseases outside including RHDV 1 and 2.

IF they are cared for well, have weather protection, and consistent deworming and vaccinations. In the US, vaccines aren't something we can get for rabbits, so its not worth risking them dying of preventable disease tbh.

What about cold weather though? They can't survive in cold weather and find it very uncomfortable when in weather under 20 degrees Fahrenheit. This is what I worry about when I leave my own rabbits out in their outdoor enclosure 😟
They actually do alot better in cold weather them hot. As they do grow thick coats. And as long as they have a shelter stuffed with hay where they can keep out from any drafts
No hate but im answering the question she posed. The reason for them not outside is safety . Theres many predators in the wild birds, snakes you name it that have no problem forcing their way into the enclosure. Another thing is extreme weather (severely hot or cold) could be very very uncomfortable for them . Not all animals these days can be outside because over the years domesticated animals have evolved to be domestic which means at home and not in the wild. Wild animals have bodies that are used to the wilderness. Their bodies and abilities have changed. Yall wouldnt leave kittens or puppies in a cage like that in the rain or cold and very vulnerable so why do that to your adorable bunnies

They appear happy, and I am not commenting about if they are inside or outside. However, dropping a bunny like that could easily have been a like threatening injury. They can break their backs very easily. If your sister doesn't know how to carry them, maybe she shouldn't help with that part. I don't know if you mentioned if they are fixed, but male bunnies who are not fixed can be aggressive with each other and it can cause painful injuries and death.

I was going crazy trying to find a build that I could do, to keep bunnies outside and not in a metal cage. So thank you, finally someone with the same mindset.
Please keep in mind the area you live in, some countries or states have extreme weatgervconditions which are too difficult to manage and it's best buns are inside. There is nothing wrong with keeping rabbits indoors. They're safer, have plenty of room if kept correctly and you get to interact with them more. Saying that, nothing wrong with keeping buns outside EXCEPT in extreme temperatures which unfortunately is happening more and more. Of course a hutch us not enough. Saying that I would not leave hayball winter long on the ground, so much damptge fencing also looks like mice, rats and other critters can get through. Using the God created them isn't a valid reason just because u are religious doesn't mean everyone is. lol. Having the option of outside enclosures does mean more room. 1/4 aviary wire is much safer to use and has a stronger gauge. While it's a lovely setting but definitely some improvements needed. Also use a cat carrier to transport them from A to B. My opinion u can agree or disagree. They are deffo happy buns.
Ive had my rabbit since she was small, her enclosure has always been inside of my room. I’ve been debating about putting her outside but after seeing this I am definitely going to take it up about having her outside
I keep my 3 rabbits outside in a 10x10 pen and they love it. Never had any escapes and they do well in their burrow for winter and summer!

The idea that rabbits *can't* be outside is a little funny, considering that that's how 95% of people keep rabbits! Most people with outdoor rabbits keep them in unheated, un-air-conditioned barns, but this setup is very very nice! Not all breeds are suited for outdoor life - just like not all dog breeds can stay outside. There are rabbits and rabbit breeds that can't stay outside, like how Angoras, who have such heavy coats that they overheat *very* easily and therefore much prefer an air conditioned setting if you live in warm climates, should usually be kept indoors, but other rabbits are perfectly fine outside. Just like how a Chihuahua wouldn't be happy as an outdoor-only dog, but a Great Pyrenees sheep guardian is meant to live outside full-time, with its sheep!
I keep English Angoras as house pets, but your outdoor bunnies look very happy and well-cared for!
The funnies part to me is when people say “rabbits were bred to be indie animals” but they say that to the people that breed them OUTSIDE (like my self)
personally i feel like keeping bunnies outside depends on the bunnies, some bunnies love the outdoors and some dislike it so as long as the bunny is fine outside i think it’s ok. personally, my bunny absolutely hates the outdoors but i’ve met some that prefer being outside

In the wild bunnies are outdoors my two bunnies stay in a hutch outside and they have all day in the garden with the hutch and my back door open so they have the choice to free roam my house but they don’t come in and when I bring them in they run straight back out.

I have an indoor bunny because he's epileptic and needs watching and more care but I give him plenty of play put time daily free in enclosed garden and he has dig garden/ herb garden but I find the issue of him inside is I have too keep heating to a bare minimum as rabbits don't do warm too well so that bits hard plus bunny proofing but it's dependent on the bunny I guess and the situation. I couldn't leave mine outside incase he had seizures I need to know right away to treat him
I guess it really depends. In Massachusetts it gets very cold and blistery up here with noreasters and blizzards, with wet and below freezing temps that would kill a rabbit fast.and they grow thick coats in preparation for that, so they don't shed them fast enough before regrowing them, and duering swelteringly humid summer days the temp reaches over 90 and feels like 110. That will give a rabbit heatstroke. You can give hidey holes and help build underground havens for them to get cool relief but it doesn't always work. And a hutch gets hot in the shade. We keep our outside on temperate days but bring them inside at night and also durring heat waves and also below 20 degrees. They are littertrained, making indoor and outdoor cleaning a breeze. And they were trained not to chew on things they were not supposed to by making sure they always had chew toys and things to destroy and knew what they were. They also zoomie and binky through the entire house. We have five. Two girls and three boys...all altered and living cohesively. I guess it's also how much effort you put into teaching your animals. You wouldn't leave a dog in all sorts of weather up here. You would consider the breed and type of dog before attempting to even leave them out all day while at work. People still see rabbits as live stock, right next to your chickens. And as livestock rabbits were meant to be eaten, i mean they didn't use anything else, besides fur. So rabbits were not intended to be alive for long and hence left out of doors, untrained. Even though we took that rabbit and bred it into existence for what we wanted it for. Now we have to pay for that and treat them like the dogs we bread into existence for our own purposes too. There are just lots of considerations before you leave your pets outside away from your companionship...we had rabbits as kids that my parents left outside and we were never allowed to bring them out to play with, and they never lasted over two years...all they were fed were store bought pellets too...our rabbits get grown food and pellets once a day and hay to hearts content. It's really i guess who controls how you keep your pets too

Finally someone who understands! I 100% agree with you it is completely normal to keep bunnies outside as long is it is a safe and healthy habitat and your very careful! But its also fine to keep the inside it depends on the bunny and the country you live in Thanks for understanding! 😊

I had some of them inside when they were ill and what I noticed they are definitely more social torwads me when they are indoors. Outside they are too, but a little more "skittish"(like picking them up). But they still come when u call and stuff.
But could never keep them inside forever. They just love it outdoors 💕
I came across this video as I am in the process of moving my bunnies to an outdoor enclosure. I've learned they really are meant to be more in their natural environment and will still be loved and cared for. Thank you for sharing!
either can work. Just because they aren't in their "natural habitat" doesn't mean they aren't happy
So, the only thing I would recommend is putting the ground chicken wire under like 2-3 feet of dirt. Just so that they can dig and burrow. It’s not healthy for them to be outside when starts snowing with no warmth. Also, they just naturally love to dig because “god” created them to be digging animals.

These are domestic bunnies, not wild animals. They’re bred to be dependent on humans, living inside. They’re sensitive to weather, if they get wet they get hypothermia, predators can give them heart attacks or just straight up eat them, etc.

Wild Rabbits thrive in the area I'm from in England. Pet rabbits do too. Lennon the bunny only has her perspective living in a hot area of the US and she has no other experience.

I've always kept rabbits outside, they stink, not a nice smell to have inside your home. And like you said they can cause a lot of damage to your house, the pen you have seems to be a great big cage, I don't see anything wrong with it. As far as I can see you've got the cage really secure, you're doing a great job, there's more than one way to properly house rabbits, and you're doing an amazing job. If you feel like your rabbit stinks they are most likely not having their litter box cleaned frequently or they may not even have a litter box. If you have 5 or more rabbits that's a lot for anyone to have to deal with and yes, it will be stinky. If you have a lot of ANY animal it will be stinky. I have 2 indoor rabbits that are fixed and litter trained and I have never had a problem with smell. I am also an an exotic veterinarian in training and don't personally agree with housing rabbits outdoors. I also own a rabbit rescue and have seen terrible accidents with rabbits outdoors. This woman obviously has a secure set up where she feels her rabbits are safe but most people won't go the length she has to build an outdoor secure area for them. An indoor playpen with a large litter box is the cheaper and safer option as hutches are smaller and get dirty more frequently (which makes the bunny appear smelly.) It is always the environment that is smelly, not the animal. I've seen rabbits get pulled out of cages by stray cats, large birds including owls and road runners. They have gotten GI stasis and their owner wasn't aware, etc. There are many risks and they are prey animals. If you would like an outdoor animal it would be better to find a predatory animal that would feel more comfortable living outdoors. Bunnies aren't for everyone and that's completely okay, that's what makes them exotic pets.

Rabbits do not have a scent, it’s the litter box that gets smelly not the rabbits if the house is getting smelly is because of the litter box. If you wanna own a rabbit it is your responsibility to change they’re litter box at least three times a week if not then more times a week. And leaving a rabbit out side it not good for them at all. Even if the cage/ enclosure you are putting the rabbits in is really sturdy thy can still die. Rabbits are so gentle and fragile that they can die just by seeing a predator outside their cage if you keep your rabbits outside I encourage you to move them indoors and if you cannot free roam them you can get a Xpen or just bunny proof it’s the same thing as dog proofing or cat proofing bunnies are just as destructive as cats and dogs. They chew, they poop on the floor and much more but that is just because they mark they’re territory you can get your bunnies spayed or neutered.
@@atlantisfaye2722 I never had a litter box for my rabbits, just a cage and some floor time, and I realize the rabbits don't have the odor it's the urine and feces, we don't have space enough for 5 buns to live in the house, their cage is a 3x8 ft, with 2 floors, we've always kept our buns outside and never had a problem. But because we do get fox, coyote, and raccoons we make sure the cages and enclosures are predator proof, We don't mess around with our buns safety, I know to some this will never be the right choice, but to me keeping them in my house isn't the right choice, we have pet dogs that would attack the buns, so it just wouldn't work,
When I was asked by a friend if I wanted to adopt a bunny because the owners where rarely home because of work and he was in a small dog kennel most of the time, I said yes without hesitation. I live on a small 3 acre farm and I have chickens and cats at the time a few dogs and a horse. I started Moon inside and that was fine..he played with my cats and the dogs let him do his thing... but when i saw there were two bunnies dumped in the park I took them on too... and the same day my friend also found a dumped bunny... three weeks later there were 4 bunnies living in my basement. Moon my male bunny was neutered but a few weeks later one of my bunnies (who I call Lennon) after Lennon the Bunny had 4 babies. Needless to say 8 was getting a little crazy and once one of the boy buns grew up he decided he was going to jump a fence land on his face, rip up his lip and impregnate the bunny my friend found.... twice. Even though I watched lennon the bunny and all the other shows you talked about too... and thought I really shouldn't put them outside.... I had no choice. At the same time my friend who rescued two bunnies from a fishtank... a small one. she decided to raise her bunnies with her chickens... which actually worked out great and they all got along and snuggled together... yes.. snuggled. Now that all my bunnies are outside and in barns they hang with my chickens an my cats... because neutering is over $700 canadian now... i do have to keep my females separate from them and sometimes separate my male bunnies if they start to fight. So far my set up is working out but this year I am taking ideas from other outdoor bunny owners and making some upgrades. I love this pen you have and I will definitely be doing something similar in the near future because as the boys have been getting older their are more fights than normal. I agree that if you can do the indoor bunny and in works... kudos! But if you can't and you give them the proper care and the proper housing like yours here. I agree that they can thrive! obviously you buns are supper happy! those were some pretty adorable binkies and zoomies! Thank you for sharing!

Well god had nothing to do with it, science did. They weren’t created from god, humans made and bred domestic rabbits.
I moved and had my two inside for a month. I put them back outside in a run like yours today and immediate zoomies and binkies.
Im worried as I live in the middle of a circle of houses, and everyone’s pets seem to visit my yard, but I think it’s pretty secure.
I actually love this idea even though mine is inside I love the amount of space they have and it’s great that there is more than one so they won’t be lonely and wild rabbits live outside anyway so this is the same only better because they have an enclosure with plenty of food

I think it is both good, but you could bunny-proof the baseboards and then it would not be a problem... But i am so happy that i finally found a youtuber that thinks the same about housing rabbits outdoors! I have wire IN the ground, so they can dig about 50 centimeters, and they really enjoy digging! There is a more stable temperature, so that is better in both summer and winter. I also let them play outside and they love it!
I totally agree. They are animals. Being outside is perfectly fine. If you take the time to make sure they are secure. And in a cage where they are protected from the elements and predators. Then you are good. I have raised rabbits for many years and never had a problem with either. My rabbits preferred being outside.
If you are the kind of owner who doesn't make sure it's safe and spend time with them every day. Making sure their area is clean, they have the proper food and all their needs are met. Then you have no business have an animal of any kind. Indoors or out.
Just be careful it’s not good for bunny’s to get wet
It's wrong to bathe them. They we're lightly wet from the rain and grass. But it's only on the outside layer of their thick fur:) it was almost the same thing as wiping them with pet wet wipes. But thank you! I'll do my best to keep them off wet grass🙌

They can be out in the rain, but they CANNOT be bathed or thrown in to a pool.
We have a fenced in backyard and we let our Flemish giant rabbits free roam the yard, they do great even in the winter! They have 3 different hutches that are always stacked up with hay and either have a roof or covered with a tarp. We also have a deck that they like to crawl under. They absolutely love it. When we get a lot of snow sometimes I worry about them and I’ll try to get them inside but they hate it inside and will continue to play in the snow instead 😂
rabbits can be indoor and outdoor! it's all entirely personal choice. I keep mine outside in a sound, hand made enclosure, and they're so happy.
rabbit care all depends on your situation, some rabbits are lucky to stay inside and others outside. I've had over 200 rabbits come and go from my place in the last 10 years (I'm known as the rabbit girl in town so all the strays are given to me and I keep them until I think they're ready and healthy enough for a new home) I've tried many different things with many different rabbits. I've had some work well free roaming in my bedroom without any issues with destroying things in my room, using their litter all the time and the time where my morning alarm was a bunny or 2 licking my face was definitely something I loved. Though I found it quite difficult to keep up with the maintenance which resulted in a pretty smelly room.
I build a concreted shed (3.5x5 meters) with 2 sides of the shed being complete walls and the other 2 sides half walls with chicken wire for the top half of the walls which gave them plenty of fresh air and ventilation. I have some steel fencing from a dog pen and I zip tie it all to make their own pens. each rabbit has at least 1.5x2 meter pens (even if I have no walking space in the shed and I have to jump over 6 fenced multiple times a day, Id rather the bunnies have all the room considering they're in the shed all day and I am not)
nothing works for ALL rabbits, some do better indoors and some out, but the set up I have had for the last few years has been the best to work out for both me and the rabbits.
this setup seems amazing, some people may judge the cleanliness of the cages or the safety of the wires, but the bunnies are happy and unharmed, they have plenty of space to run and unlimited hay, they have space to get off the floor if there is any rain, and hutches if the weather is no good, she's explained why keeping them inside doesn't work which is completely valid, not all bunnies do their best indoors, and not all bunny owners have the option. the bunnies seem well bonded with her and each other, I really don't understand the people calling this abuse. they happy, healthy, and have everything they need.
just because a rabbits isn't indoors, doesn't mean they're being neglected and uncared for.
loreli from Lennon The Bunny clearly only has experience with the one rabbit, and she can only speak from her experience with the one rabbit. she does have amazing tips and tricks when it comes to rabbit care, but she aims for people to have the same or similar set up that works for her and unfortunately its not always the best case with every family.
Loreli does an amazing job and its incredible the amount of people who have been willing to let her in to help with their care, but I can definitely see a lot of her rabbit renovations seem awesome by the time she leaves, but I can guarantee a lot of them don't workout after a month. she should be open to listening to opinions from all sorts of rabbit owners instead of just trying to do what works best for her and Lennon.
No hate to Loreli, this is just my opinion from my experience with bunnies.
People need to remember rabbits are from the outdoor and they are perfectly fine outside.

They seem soooo happy and happy! I love the chicken wire at the bottom to keep out ground animals. These are happy babies! I do recommend using bleach or vinegar to clean any green spots inside their house. Of course you need to rinse after and let it dry before returning the hutch to the area. I love the walk-in headroom allowing you to easily enter to clean. If ever you feel you need more protection, place pallets along the outside walls. You're taking very good care of them❤
I completely agree with keeping your rabbits or rabbit outside. And obviously with the right care. Like she has a huge space for them to roam around in and she has PLENTY of hayfor them! I love everything avout it. I love how she cares for them. The rabbits must be very very lucky to have her as a mom!💜

I keep my bunnies outside also, I live in England it never gets too cold or too hot so that's not something we generally have to worry about. There is nothing they love more than running free and digging in our back garden

Lets get something constructive comment :) the only 2 thinks i may owerthink is the size of the holes in the mesh. Maybe use something smaler. I dont know were you live and what kind of hunter there are but a rat or a wiesel maybe can come through and hurt or kill the bunnies. I could see it right but a plate under the hole cage would prevent lager animals to dig there way in. And thats the only major thinks i see.

Yeah it isn’t just her saying that. I agree with the other side. Rabbits should be indoor pets or going in and out the house.
And you have a homestead. For all I know your rabbits are livestock. I’m pretty sure people are referring to pet rabbits being indoor. I think one of the reasons for indoor rabbits is to separate them from livestock rabbits. Pets can be indoors, but livestock can’t. Rabbits (with spayed/neutered, litter train and bunny proofing) can stay indoors. Bunnies will still poop outside the litter, but fixing them reduces that. Plus rabbit poop is not as gross and smelly as dog or cat poop.
Her "reasons" were basically "they belong outside cuz they're aaaanimaaals". That is how you speak of livestock, not pets. Domesticated animals (pets) and wild animals are about as much alike as you and cave dwelling Cro-Magnon. I keep seeing "they stink" as an argument to keep them outside. If you think a certain pet stinks too much for your house, don't get that pet or maybe a pet at all?

Not every animal is the same so keep in mind their not dogs where you get to choose “oh they live outside” but no, these are PETS not animals that you would see roaming around. If you leave them outside, you may think that they’re very dumb and they can’t escape, but no, they’re smart prey rabbits. They can find an escape area and RUN. They’re fast runners. You might not be able to catch them. again, their coats of fur is SENSITIVE. If they get TOO much heat they run out of oxygen to breath. This happened many times to people with uneducated bunny owners, I’ve dealt with tons, even my aunt placed her bunny with a hutch outside which is bad. If you place them in hutches, they don’t have any space to run, to do zoomies. Bunnies are socializing rabbits. They love the attention, if you treat them like this, they most likely won’t claim this as their home. 1. They need binkies/zoomies. If you let your rabbit outside alone with no nothing to be in, they can possibly escape and KEEP IN MIND, THEY’RE PREY animals, so you most likely will find your bunny dead. This is why you’re bunnies need to stay INSIDE where theirs safety and can control the A.C, for when it’s summer, you can always turn on the a.c so that your bunny feels fresh and cool. BUT, in the other hand, outside. You can’t control the weather out there. AGAIN, bunnies are sensitive when it comes to weather. “Of course you can leave your bunny inside, but also outside if everything is secured” you can’t leave your bunny outside, can you secure weather? Tell me, PLEASE, educate yourself before talking in this topic. These aren’t wild rabbits to LEAVE THEM OUTSIDE, THEIR 🖤Domestic🖤 bunnies! Don’t get them confused

I just moved my rabbits outside. They were inside for the winter until the outside got nice enough to build their hutch they are already pretty happy

This setup isn’t all that safe for your bunnies though and they aren’t protected from bad weather conditions either. The fact the do binkies just means they were happy you came to clean.

So far I have seen none of them. I groom them with a flea comb about every day and wipe them off with some wet wipes. I haven't seen anything. But there are plenty of flea and tick sprays for bunnies online

It just depends on where you live I have 9 bunnies outdoors and never had a problem but I keep there are a super clean also I spray all around and in there pen with a bunnie safe bug repellent just for extra assurance
I heard someone online say that rabbits need to be inside when the temps go below 45f. I just rolled my eyes. My rabbits do just fine outside all winter long in the northeast US.

This makes me happy. As a kid I had bunnies outside. Now my son wants a bunny or 2 & everything I see online says to keep them inside. Yes inside setups can be super cute (like what Lennon shows) but my house doesn't have room for something like that & free roam sounds dangerous (& kind of yucky). I can see both sides, I don’t think outside is terrible as long as they have proper ways to stay warm/cool. I just agree with Lenon the Bunny’s channel about free roaming. I don’t agree with cages weather in or out. I don’t think she’s wrong per say I just think it’s ok if they are outside.

There are pros and cons for everything. Keeping them indoors means you have to litter train them. Keeping them outdoors they could be eaten. Indoors they can destroy things. Indoors they dont have as much space. People have different opinions and thats ok.
