This one and the SNES one are the epitome of survival horror games. No running around with machine guns or any kind of weapon at all, these games take away that sense of security of being able to rely on weapons and replaces it with a constant sense of dread through out the entire game. For at me at least every door, closet, or curtain I get ready to open I always felt that fear that Something will might pop out at me, and then it likes to fool you into thinking your safe somewhere until Scissorman catches you off guard. I remember being grateful every time I was able to stop and take a breath and collect my thoughts before having to be on guard. These games succeed at making the player feel helpless and jump at every little noise which is a good thing in survival horror as far as I am concerned.
It’s an effective style, but I think that having options in itself is oddly terrifiying. When you only have one solution to every problem, you have little to no sense of uncertainty. Clocktower SNES makes up for this by having Scissor Man’s encounters be completly random. (Didn’t play the PS1). A game like Silent Hill gives you weapons yes, but ranged weapons give you very few bullets, melee weapons are intentionally clunky, and health pickups are miniscule. When you hear the static radio, and you know there’s a moneter nearby, YET you don’t know who that monster is, and where they’re gonna strike. But to be completly fair, Clocktower (SNES) probably handeled non-combat horror games the best. This is because even if Scissor man is not all that scary by himself, the incredibly off putting music, unexpected encounters, and tricks up his sleeve keep the pkayer’s eyes always scrambling. In Amnesia, meanwhile, you just hide and run. 9 times out of 10 it just works, cuz those are the only things you CAN do.
@@brog4037 It's worth playing the PS1, because while the SNES encounters are great, the PS1 Scissorman encounters are 100% random- he can begin chasing you at literally any time without warning or a trigger, it's great!
@@brog4037 well clock tower snes scissorman (bobby) can legitimately appear anywhere by stabbing through the ceiling, as well as SOME set encounters. clock tower ps1 scissorman is all set encounters, but MUCH more frequent. you lose NOTHING.
@@Krystalmyth My stepdad bought it as a last minute Christmas present. He got it on sale at a local store called "Roses", and was surprised to see how happy I was upon opening it. Little did he know, I had read about Clock Tower in a PSX magazine, and had been chomping at the bit to play it. So he totally lucked out that morning.
You should play 3. It’s definitely worth it in my opinion. Plus if you’re a fan of the Clock tower games I would highly suggest playing both Haunting Ground and Night Cry
The scariest thing about the game was that you didn't have any weapons! The first time I hid in the bathroom he didn't see me and I was relieved the second time I tried it, the sissorman faked he was leaving and then turned around and stabed me through the door!!
@Jessica8674 this happened to me to! and yes, no weapons exept for the gun and anything you can do out of improvising...which, when your in the bathroom, theres nothing you can do if you get found out...
ha, yeah you're right! Maybe they could at least reboot the game like they did DMC (Which sucked) or Tomb Raider (Which didn't suck) Just give us something to work with.
I like how from 2:30-3:00, the original Clock Tower theme starts playing. It brings back the nostalgia of playing the first game

I hope there will be another clock tower game with Jennifer again!! PERFECT!!
hope so.
Imagine that, Detective Jennifer... She already did a good job in playstation's clock tower although 15.
크래시 피버장화 Do you hate Jennifer that much? XD The poor girl never has any time to take a break of having to deal with serial killers.
But... Her story is over
@@Yayofangamer16 She can still be brought back in some way though.
This credits track make me feels like I've already known all hidden secret in this unsolved murder case.
But will you make it through this game of murder a l i v e ?

Clock Tower was the best, random Christmas present I ever received.
That's so cool. What a thing to open up.

I always used to skip the credits (unintentionally) until I found out that it was full length credit sequence with a catchy theme.
this game used to give me the creeps when i was 8 y old, HELL it still gives me chills and im 19
8 years old? try 4 years old for me, and this game was one of my favorites
So now you are 28 years old?
@@kevinmejia4975 Yes and the soundtrack still gives me the heebie jeebies although i have grown to like the SNES Clock Tower OST more
3:45 - EARGASM!
best game of psx.....still
Deserved more love, the Clock Tower games were amazing! Well, never played 3 but 1,2, and Ghost Head were terrifying

I really like the synthi part at the first minute.

A remake of this would be amazing especially a rerelease on limited run games.
they really don't make games like this anymore
2:31-5:27 is my favorite part
The 2nd half is a certified banger.
It's the song from the credits. Awesome!
@Jessica8674 this happened to me to! and yes, no weapons exept for the gun and anything you can do out of improvising...which, when your in the bathroom, theres nothing you can do if you get found out...
Amen brother...amen.
only Junglist to recognize it!
*AMEM BROTHER*
@AeCiTiUm actually there's a broom in the bathroom by the stall door.
This fits well in staff roll of slasher film.
I hope someone puts the song on limewire soon!
I really want it on my ipod! :/
1.55 speed hits like something out of Mario and Luigi
Wow, i love it! Keep up the good work!!
Coolest song!
what even are those sounds starting at 1:18 next to the beats? are those snares or something?
Kick Drum and a very slow amen break loop in the backdrop.
i am actually filming a clock tower movie based off this game.
Ladarius Winns Is it finished or still in development?
is it done?
@youfreakmeout Yeah, I played it very late at night and it was really scary!!
