It really found it interesting when you showed the damage to the ahi that the shark attack caused in the areas they didn't bite. Would have thought it would be ok and still firm and edible. wouldn't have guessed it would fall apart like that. Anyway, I remember your video when you explained why you named the boat. Moʻolelo are stories, myths, legends, and part of the cultural fabric of Hawaii, so in that spirit I can't wait for you to tell us your story! As always, stay safe!

I usually fish alone. It can be spooky and amazing at times. Always rewarding when you boat a big fish by yourself and it does make you a better fisherman.

Last year we were on a bluefin trip out of San Diego and my buddies fish got hit by a mako right at the boat. The crew cut it right away. There reasoning was that the bacteria in a sharks mouth would spoil the meat quickly. Maybe that’s what happened to your fish. Bummer.

I remember one time shark got half of tuna we made sashimi right on the boat was weird meat was warm as the water! BUT! it melt in my mouth!Best ever! wanna try again!

yup.. we really do have a shark problem. i hate seeing sharks and monk seals when fishing. those are signs to move area. esp the 2nd one.

Strange meat on the shark bitten fish. I cleaned several yellowfin and a bigeye that got sharked this summer in North Carolina and the shark bit meat actually looked better than the whole fish, I assume since its instantly bled almost 100% when the fish gets chopped in half. Maybe sitting in the ice water overnight is what got to yours? I cleaned ours on the ride back to the dock.
I agree… by the looks of it, perhaps the ice water got to it. I realize only captain Nick was going solo but if he had a deckhand…cleaning it and chopping the bad parts immediately would have provided some good meat.
