Seven-A What number is this, Chip? Seven-A! Okay, know what I mean, like, don't get excited, men It's 'cause I'm short, I know Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings Of the bluebird as she sings The six o'clock alarm would never ring But six rings and I rise Wipe the sleep out of my eyes My shavin' razor's cold and it stings Cheer up, Sleepy Jean, oh, what can it mean To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen? My sister had the 45 of this one. There were already so many favourites from their first three big albums and then this one comes along! Thank you, Pat for another great stereo remix.
This is a fantastic remix,a classic breathed new life into. A blast from my past ,I was 11 when this came out and it sounded magnificent to me then and even more so now.
Catchy easily remembered melody written by John Stewart whilst still with the Kingston Trio. All Monkees appear on the single in some way. One of the Monkees classic recordings for me, sounding better than ever. Thankyou Pat.
Thanks Henry. I first remixed this song in 2021, but when I listen to that mix today, it doesn't sound good. Mono vocals and less than great sound quality. There are a lot more of my early remixes I want to replace, now that I have new software and new remixing techniques !
I had your original mix in my favourites list and thought it was pretty good, but this remix is in a different league - it has never sounded this good. Never was a great Monkees fan but I think this was their best song and is a great bit of nostalgia for me. Thank you.
There are many great songs which sum up my mid to late sixties childhood soundtrack and 3 that spring to mind are Young Girl ( Gary Pucket & The Union Gap ) Sugar Sugar ( The Archies ) and Daydream Believer and you wont hear a better mix of the song than this 👍
Hi Pat another awesome sounding upload here ! I have a question - What has changed in your technique on the Elvis Mono to Stereo conversions? I've noticed the way you did "I Beg Of You" & "Love Me" earlier that they sound so crispy clean and the stereo separation on those are so unbelievable!!! it just seems your newer ones sound great but are just missing that complete separation of instruments Like you did on "I Beg Of You" it just PUNCHES out stereo. Please go back to that way if you changed up anything!! I'm telling you those two songs including "Blue Christmas" sound better than anything you ever done on Elvis . I LOVE your work and just want to be honest with you. "I Beg Of You" and "Love Me" is beyond believable work on these mono master -- I've played them for my friends and YES these are where it's AT!!!
Hi Joseph. The basic method I use to create stereo from mono is still the same. I layer new instruments on top of the original recording. I'm using new splitting software now, which enables me to create four or more stems. This means I can synchronise all the different instrumental parts much more accurately now. That's the main advantage. The resultant sound quality depends entirely on the quality of the backing tracks I use. So if, for example, I was to make another mix of "I Beg Of You" using the new software the sound quality would still be much the same. Just tighter and better synchronised, especially the drum parts. I do appreciate honest, critical reviews of my work. I like to know what people really like and what they think could be better. It's how I learn and it makes me try even harder, so I am not in the least bit offended !
I’m a sound nut. I’m also a Monkees nut. In 1981 I bought their first 4 LPs as Japanese Imports to replace my beat up 60s original copies. They were an improvement but still, hollow, poor tones and basically a mess. My biggest issue with my many favorite Monkees records are the tonal quality and lack of warmth. Headquarters, my favorite album as a whole, suffers terribly. Andrew Sandoval, THE official Monkees archivist has remixed some of their tracks. He has not had results like this! The depth, warmth and width of this is absolutely stunning.
Thanks Larry. Interesting feedback. I'm obsessed with sound quality as well, and I've never really been satisfied with 1960s stereo, or a lot of the later remixes, especially DES mixes. So I'm glad my unique method of enhancing old recordings is appreciated by many of the commentators. The purists aren't so happy with what I'm doing though !
@@radiowollaton8521 Purists? Those who prefer Sgt. Pepper in Mono because that's how The Beatles mixed it? Its 2023 not 1967... Beauty is in the ears of the beholder.

You're welcome 👍
one of my all time favourite hits !!! I always played this 7" vinyl record when I was 7-8 years old.
This is a fantastic remix,a classic breathed new life into. A blast from my past ,I was 11 when this came out and it sounded magnificent to me then and even more so now.
I was 11 as well !
Thank you

Hoping Micky has heard this. It is brilliant. The Monkees’ entire catalogue needs a 2024 remix.

すごくいい!
Nice improvement Pat! 👍
Thanks Paul. Can't beat stereo vocals !
Forever cool
Yes
Sounds great as always, but I miss the intro (seven-a). Best regards from Leipzig, Pat.
Thanks Günter. I knew somebody would mention seven a. It's not on the original single, so I deliberately left it out !
It made No 5 or 6 in the UK, if I remember!
The Guinness Book says No 5 !
