- After making a new helm control panel and attempting to install it it was clear that new helm wiring was in order. A spur of the moment decision to dyke all the helm wires ensured there was no turning back.
What a mess. Glad you know how to make sense of all that wiring 🙂
I'm just winging it..
I feel you. I di a complete rewiring of my engine and DC panel last year. It's all HS125 proper and much easier to add different components later. Good job! ⛵
Thank Len. I am glad to be mostly done with this one.
I bet, I'm already looking at moving my DC panel to the nav station from below the companion way ladder. That should be fun!
Great video. Thinking about doing the same to my CHB.
Is yours as bad as mine? I also just had no space to work with.
e@@mvintrigue-trawlerdiy1101 Probably worse. I have no access from the rear, just a small hatch (about 12 inches x 12 inches) under the wheel. All of the screw heads have the green corrosion on them. I also have a 3 switch AC panel that someone added near the wheel, and I have no idea what these switches operate. I have not yet traced the wires. Electrical projects are so much fun.
Nice work!
Do you have a link to that digital Tach?
You may not want to use it. After more testing i found it to be sporadic in its readings. But i bought it from Jegs.com. check out some of the other videos regarding how to get a better tach signal with a hall effect sensor. That has been great and very accurate and reliable.

I'm only able to find square tachometer with hall sensor...
@juniinc40 oh yeah..watch the video and it will show how to hook up to any tach you choose
