At any convention you're going to get a couple of people that stink. I remember the rules for one gaming con I saw advertised explicitly stating that you need to shower and wear deodorant, so this is the kind of thing you have to deal with. Combine that with people who wrap themselves in bits of old carpet (which are probably in some cases never washed) and I can only imagine how bad things will get...
Furries are crazy. Admittedly speaking as one, there’s a lot of crazy crap people get into in the fandom. I try to stay out of fandom stuff and just like animal characters, some furries are ok, but there’s a reason furries have the reputation they do.
As for the furry costume question, some have fans in them to keep cool. But I’ve only ever worn the head of one for a few minutes. Idk how they do it for hours walking around. Must take a lot of getting used to.
It seems like furries are mostly chill but because of its strange ideas, a lot of freaks bastion to it. Any group is like that but seems furries are some of the loudest crazy people
I don't have anything against furries. Maybe I lack critical information but I don't find them disgusting or repulsive even though I'm not one myself (not exactly my cup of tea). But being quirky or having a certain kink it's not a justification for acting this way. I'm not even sure if this behavior is due to them being furries or just deranged people but sure thing it doesn't help their reputation
The property destruction at least sounds like it was deliberate outside sabotage to make them look bad, though the rest of the issues would be enough for any reasonable venue to ban future events. Massive drug issues and diapers is the last thing a major hotel would want. My main issue with some furries are the NSFW variety being complete and total hypocrites most of the time when they can throw any other weird internet group under the bus.
