This car brings back the memories of Opel and mercury villager a lot of people loved them and sold them after plenty disappointment. Some cars should be admired from a distance 😢
Also, the Nissan Quest. Especially the bigger ones. They looked good but had pretty bad problems.
I have a 2007 Nissan Murano which I bought in 2014 and still drive perfectly well. I mean perfectly. I agree most owners and mechanic do not understand it. You would disagree with me if I tell you this is one of the best SUV in its class. It might interest you to know this is my second Murano. The first was a 2004 model I bought in 2008 and sold in 2015. This current Murano that has now clocked 9 years is my only car.

Nissans have issues when you get some that has been driven for long
I have two Nissan pathfinders same year same model but one was bought almost new and I have never had to repair any major thing
But the other wasn’t so new and I don’t drive it again because of the issues it has..

Finally, an honest review of the 1st Gen Nissan murano. Although, I will disagree with your thoughts about the engine. The VQ35DE is one of Nissan's best engines and can be found in the Altima, Maxima, Quest, Pathfinder, Z350 and some Infiniti models like the G35 and FX35. It was on the Ward top 10 engines from 2002 to 2007. I have a Z50 Murana that Ive been using for 9 years now, and it's still going strong. I have however replaced the CVT transmission with a regular auto trans from a 2002 maxima. This means I've lost AWD and have a bunch of lights showing on the dash, but I'm enjoying my murano. It's a beauty and a beast on the road.
I have a colleague that bought this car some years ago. She bought it at a bargain price and thought it was a good deal. It didn’t last 2 months before the issues started and the car never started again. She later sold it as scrap.

I need that review
I was driving, mine just stopped. It is a 2007 model with a neat body and interior. I replaced tge engine just 3 months ago. Its just parked in front of my house here in ibadan. I called a cvt dealer he said 450k for replacement and workmanship. I am just tired. I wish i could just sell it off
I have a functional CVT transmission I can give you for half that price if you're interested. Payment after proper testing.
Your analysis on this Murano is very wrong, the engine is a beast. Inside murano is VQ35DE engine, one of the best engine from Nissan. The Nissan 3.5-liter VQ V6 engine has been named to the annual "Ward's Ten Best Engines" list for the 10th straight year by Ward's Communications, Inc. It is the only engine that has been part of the list every year the award has been presented. What actually plagued this SUV was the lack of technical know-how of mechanics back then when it started arriving in Nigeria. They were busy servicing the transmission with regular ATF instead of CVT which was then a very scarce oil in the market. This act consequently damaged the transmission .

Please you guys should review Acura DMX 2nd generation 2007-2013. It's becoming popular in Nigeria market.
While Nissan's CVTs use belts, the majority of CVTs use chains. Those ones are generally more reliable. The biggest Nissan to use a CVT was the 2011-2017 Quest, as well as the 2013-2021 Pathfinder.

The 'belt' is actually made of metal. I'm waiting for someone to turn this into a project car, then slap the four speed and Transmission Control Unit from the 2003 maxima into the murano.

@@abibsco It should, considering they have the same vq35 engine. I strongly believe it can be done. Take out the crappy CVT including the stock TCU from the murano and bolt in the 4 speed and its TCU from the maxima. I'd have loved the M35, G35 transmissions but they are rear wheel configurations. configurations.
My murano was parked from 2012 to Dec 2021 when it was finally sold as scrap.. you are very correct. Na real wahala car

@@karimroufaou3579 fixed it repeatedly, but it’s not even an enjoyable car to drive… steering the hardest I have seen in any car… that being said one of the issues it has is leakage of the power steering fluid

Did you buy your Murano when already above 100K mileage and didn't replace all the fluids including CVT before you start firing it? Are you sure you didn't buy it with some inherent problems? Do you observe all maintenance and replace parts with original spares meant for the Murano? What Model year was yours and what year did you buy it? This will provide some insights.
