People often dont like the first season but it i think it is amazing. Natural dull office aura with no exageration in personalities of characters. Very authentic. Plus the cringe was just cherry on top.
i mean that was the original intention to "The Office". it was supposed to be a satirical mockumentary with cringe and dark humor. that is how the show mostly is in the original UK version by Ricky Gervais. but it didn't work for the american audiences, so in later seasons of the US version they went with a more lively sitcom take on it instead

Personally, I think some of the best parts were after he left. I agree overall it was better with him, but in terms of individual moments, post-Michael had some of the best.

I actually had a second level manager who every time he walked by he'd call my name and say you're fired. It was never this awkward though. The first time I watched this series, I had no idea what I was going into. I was utterly confused at the first episode. But now, I just come back at random clips and think it's still the best.
The best part about Michael kissing is that all their reactions (besides Michael's) is genuine. When Pam looked at the camera, that reaction was genuine.
B.J Novaks face at 9:28 gets me everytime. In fact everyones reaction in this scene is so brilliant because Steve Carell improvised the kiss and they're all genuinely shocked XD
If it makes you feel any better they purposefully did his makeup like that in season 1 to make him look a little bit more sleazy. When the show wasn't working they changed his character and fixed his hair up.

If it makes you feel any better they purposefully did his makeup like that in season 1 to make him look a little bit more sleazy. When the show wasn't working they changed his character and fixed his hair up.
