I like the guy explaining everything that's happening. He lets the guy focus on playing and he does a pretty good job explaining. And that boat joke was funny as hell, screw everyone who didn't laugh, I love those kinds of jokes.
That's the actual purpose of the "couch" they will commentate what the speedrunner is doing to allow them to focus. Most of the time now though, the speedrunners will commentate on their own since they prepared it themselves or are comfortable enough to talk while playing. It's actually been a joke for recent GDQs where the couch is actually just dead and quiet since the speedrunners themselves do the talking
Big props to both, runner and commentator. Both of you made the run really enjoyable to watch and helped a complete newcomer to speedrunning as I am to grasp some of the fine art involved! Thanks to you two!
1:03:56 That happens because there is no texture for some things that you are not supposed to see, so it takes the texture of every object that is close to it
I'm still following him on Twitch! I remember Ovendonkey's videos on TH-cam.. great times watching them. Before all the sequence skips were discovered.
Catalyst won't have so many crazy time savers. It only came out yesterday but the way they changed some of the movement and the nature of the open world might kinda kill the potential speed running in it. I might be wrong though, the first time I played the original game I would've had no idea all this was possible. I hope the speedrun community respond well to Catalyst though, I look forward to it
Check out Arie2929's channel. He's found quite a few game breaking glitches already that has got some mission runs down to sub 2 minutes. Question is whether EA will look after catalyst and patch the glitches or not :)
FischiTV It's not bad, just the ways people save time are very different. A lot of time saves are based on out of bounds skips and such, not so many movement based saves. Bunnyhopping and stuff are still in there though but they've changed a little
Phonyk guys remember that the first mirrors edge game has been out for 8 years, so people have had a lot more time to find glitches then mirrors edge catalyst, wich has only been out for a couple of months
It always seems like in speed runs the runs where at the beginning of the run the runner is messing up those are the runs that break records while the ones that go smoothly all clips work it's time is the est or a lil above
33:30. "One minute train ride." And then he said that's a lot of downtime. Just watched the Pokemon emerald speed run this is so intense. A minute is basically forever in these mirror runs
This was a really good run. The narrator who read the donations was fantastic, the guy explaining each glitch explained it all really well and knew exactly when to let the narrator do a donation, the runner was also very good. Bit of a shame it was an early morning run. The audience was too small.
Its going to be crazy to see Speedrunners take a crack at Catalyst and its open world, Plus all the new movement dynamics.. its going to be like running a whole new game (which it basically is anyway)
regarding the end of the video: the reason why the graphics look like that is because the OoB area has no texture, so nothing gets drawn there, and instead you see the backbuffer. a lot of games have the same thing when OoB.
i found a skip thing for the stormdrains by accident. On the entrance you stand on a plank that falls down, you stay at the front right corner and as it drops you you end up on the bottom platfor instead of having to climb down. Probably been discovered before, but i think its col that i stumbled on it
world record is 28:08min how the heck did he do that? there must have been discovered a lot of skips in the time between the agdq run and the world record run
Little late to the party, but the reason the graphics look messed up when you're out of bounds is because the game doesn't clear the screen before each frame. Normally the game renders the background, which takes up the entire screen along with the rest of the level geometry and models. If your out of bounds, however, the game will often have nothing to render. If there's nothing to render, and the screen isn't being cleared, the screen will effectively accumulate frames over time. Many games will have this "issue", since you don't need to clear the screen if it will be completely redrawn anyway.
+ArchiURURU Funny like you don't even bother to google the name and make shit up. Nice ! haha. The guy is a speedrunner too btw. He runs mostly Jak 3 but also Mirror's Edge. twitch.tv/ThaRixer
Yes, 100% of donations go to Prevent Cancer Foundation, but then they turn around and pay agdq for the event. This is not a non-profit charity event...so it is very deceitful to word it this way. Prevent cancer foundation also has executives that get paid, so only a fraction of the money raised actually gets to the people that need it.
I like the guy explaining everything that's happening. He lets the guy focus on playing and he does a pretty good job explaining. And that boat joke was funny as hell, screw everyone who didn't laugh, I love those kinds of jokes.
ikr!
that guy I found unbelievably annoying, he can't stfu for more than 10 seconds.
+xepheratu Thank you very much! I did my best!

Is this comment serious? CAuse like... he was laughing at what happened in the game.
Such a nice gesture by DICE to donate 1k USD.
Thorinbur 1 k to them is nothing
$300 towards fighting cancer, $700 towards PCF CEO. so sad that they picked such a shitty charity organization.
Good marketing for them.
R.I.P Damn you EA
the only true "speed" "run" game.
+Tony Taco Sonic the Hedgehog though
+ControllerTape GG damn
ikr
+Tony Taco Faith is literally a speed runner :)
+Tony Taco ever heard of Defrag?
Pff no one can beat me at slowrunning this game
look i will buy this game today (steam summer sale) so yeah i could probably beat you
bought the game when it came out and finished it in 2015. try me. lol
+Blackman Whitesuit Nice, sub 8 years :)
it took me 2 months to beat the game.
Still haven't beat it.
This is probably the best speed run I've ever seen. The commentator and runner are great.
Appreciated the detailed explanations from the couch, and how enthusiastic he seemed about the run. Good job
beautiful run man. Very few mistakes but easily overlookable with those sick kick glitches
43:24 you can almost hear people collectively rolling their eyes in the background
bugs aren to allowed there, right?
This is the run that got me into watching speedruns and till this day I haven’t seen a better one.
Big props to both, runner and commentator. Both of you made the run really enjoyable to watch and helped a complete newcomer to speedrunning as I am to grasp some of the fine art involved!
Thanks to you two!
No problemo
From commentary to gameplay, this was the perfect speedrun showcase. Amazing.
Run starts at 11:27
This audience is the worst I've seen in ages. However the runner and commentator were great.
this was probably one of the 3am games or something
Ah fair enough.
Mew Why is this audience worse then the rest?
vampireguy24 no response, no applause for the runner whatsoever. But since it's one of the 3am games, they're forgiven.
movecount I didn't even know they have runs that early
But is it G L I T C H L E S S
1:03:56 That happens because there is no texture for some things that you are not supposed to see, so it takes the texture of every object that is close to it
Who else remembers the original speedrun on this game? OvenDonkey for life.
Rip prilt
I'm still following him on Twitch! I remember Ovendonkey's videos on TH-cam.. great times watching them. Before all the sequence skips were discovered.
I think that one Dash in Mirrors edge catalyst is named after him or is a reference :D (Donkey in an oven)
kuskus yeah its pretty cool

I hope not. Glitches make the game better, and doesn't ruin the casual experience
FischiTV It's not bad, just the ways people save time are very different. A lot of time saves are based on out of bounds skips and such, not so many movement based saves. Bunnyhopping and stuff are still in there though but they've changed a little
Phonyk guys remember that the first mirrors edge game has been out for 8 years, so people have had a lot more time to find glitches then mirrors edge catalyst, wich has only been out for a couple of months
isak hs Although true, the types of glitches in Catalyst are very different, there's a lot of out of bounds etc
The character in the game must have knees of steel.
Faith never skips leg day.
She goes to classes taught by Chun Li.
OneTrueBelmont
Faith is always on her knees practicing. 😉
56:59 incase any of you missed the hilarious ending :D
This game is so pretty.
Run Start @ 12:08
thanks bro!
+Benny R. Not all heroes wear capes...
Take a shot everytime he says kick-glitch
Okay, honestly, Catalyst looks meh, but the fact that the dev team donated 1000$ to this is pretty swag.
(͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)BecauseICan( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º) the Gameplay , speddrun is not catalyst its the game bevor lol
*****
...You fucking idiot...

Love this game!! The first game I ever beat on Hard Difficulty, and no firearms. Though it took a whole day. This guy is awesome! Great job!
that was the best speedrun I ever saw
I've never seen that couch so empty before.
Still my favorite speedrun in gdq history!

Edit: 2022 and Im still watching this
Holy crap, the amount going through his head at any one time is astronomical
One of the best run i've seen damn
I am trying to learn how to speedrun this game I know how hard this is. I appreciate how good you guys are at this
Amazing game to watch gone through fast, the mechanics are great. The end glitches they show off were awesome.

best menu screen in any video game
Those guys with pink hair
This was a really good run. The narrator who read the donations was fantastic, the guy explaining each glitch explained it all really well and knew exactly when to let the narrator do a donation, the runner was also very good. Bit of a shame it was an early morning run. The audience was too small.

Glitch Exhibition starts at 56:48.
Sniper rat?
Jojo part 4 was predicted.
This essentially was a really good run

Speedrunner sounds like Stephen Hawking's voice machine.
Paul Sack I was looking for this comment, cos I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that...
The game starts at 12:08
Run starts at 12:10

Essentially, this is a good run.

This is how Mirror's Edge was meant to be played.
Man that low FOV is somethin' fierce

PoorBelfs its a great feeling
this is the correct way to play mirror edge
Feelsbad, when you hear the MEC dev team donate in old runs like this, then you look at the reality that they completely abandoned the series now
This game looks INCREDIBLY stressful
I love this game. I used to do speed runs too but its almost impossible to do the side dash on the Xbox 360
I was proud when I completed this game in 2 hours!!!
what a nice run on a sweet game
Starts at 12:10
The speedrunner's voice is really pleasant to me
Take a shot every time the commentator says 'essentially'
What does kill/save the animals mean?
59:30 it looks like she's apart of the ministry of silly walks haha
What's the song on 52:33?
It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.
wow, I beat ME several times and I never knew these glitches existed.
This is unbelievable
Great commentary
at 35:00 minutes in the run or ( 47:14 ) why didn't you do the Easter egg Kappa
very nice run
I used to think my "speed runs" were good. I got to where I could consistently finish the game in just under an hour every time.
"crane thingy" a very technical speedrunning term I'm sure
world record is 28:08min how the heck did he do that? there must have been discovered a lot of skips in the time between the agdq run and the world record run
www.speedrun.com/me WR is 29:06
I am new, could someone explaion to me what that kill/save the animals thing is about?
It's a reference to a metroid game where you can choose to save or kill some animals at the end of the game
Mario Danov Ivanov oh, thank you, I remember that being in a metroid game.
thanks, i understad it now
Watch Game Theory's video on it.
I don’t even speed run I just like watching our overlords in action
Canolli harder than 3A-3C or Cranes?
13:50
They didn't *Mirror* the *Edge* glitch

That beamer's YOOOO is swag af
