What an interesting video. Who would have thought that but certainly when you bake a cake you don't cover it or it would come out different. This was very helpful as winter is coming and will start to make some homemade bread again. Thank you.

You have so many beautfully shaped loaves, batch after batch. I, on the other hand, am putting out Frankenstein loaves, every one comes out weird and misshapen. Nobody wants to touch them. I'll keep trying though, one day, I'll be an artist like you. 😄😄
If you don't score your loaf, it will often open where you don't want it to. Like along the bottom edge of the crust. This makes it harder to cut nice slices as well as the reduced oven spring and dense final product!
That's great! I've forgotten to score a few times, but I've still been happy with the results. The upside is that the next loaf will be even better! -🍰Grace
Hi! By "normal loaf breads" do you mean those baked in a loaf pan, like sandwich bread? The answer is that it depends! More often than not, scoring isn't necessary for pan breads, but sometimes vertical cuts from a scissor can help create that perfect loaf top. -🍰Grace
Great questions! It is typically a crusty, chewy loaf made from the simplest of ingredients and baked directly on a baking stone or on a baking sheet, rather than in a loaf pan. -🍰Grace
I recommend scoring bread after it's cooked. When I score bread before cooking, I score it about 2/10 but after cooking the score improves quite a lot.
Missed you Martin, good to see you back!
We'll let him know that he's been missed! 🫶 -🍰Grace

Should scoring be done to normal loaf breads?
