Seeing the old Xbox Live logo really brings me back to the times when games were just fun. Micro transactions were uncommon, no battle passes, no one crying about the hours of a game, no one moaning about fps, no one obsessing with a narrative. Just arcade games with a new spin on them, fun.
It's so crazy how on their game Xbox used to be. I played SO MUCH Geometry Wars Retro Evolved back in the day and I was GOOD too lol. Braid was really good as well. Xbox 360 era was so good.
This was pretty much the start of the Indie revolution. Literally 1000s of games have benefited from how this legitimised 'small' games as actual 10/10 masterpieces. No Hades, Hotline Miami, Hollow Knight, Cuphead, Inside etc. without the Xbox Arcade
Awesome video as always! Would love to see one of these for every year of Summer of Arcade. My favorites that came from it were Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Monday Night Combat and Nexuiz.
Thank you for the chill video! I never had a 360 back in its hay day, but I always paid attention to the Live Arcade titles that came out. Perfect Dark was one I desperately wanted, since GoldenEye 007 on the N64 was my favorite game as a kid.
Glad you enjoyed it! The Perfect Dark remaster was one I picked up whenever it came out. I loved the online leader boards feature for speedrunning levels.
The Xbox Live Arcade was a beautiful time for digital and budget games. Filled with arcade classics and new games made by passionate developers. Nowadays its like digital only games are bad shovelware.
Hello ^^ How are you doing ? :) I just wanted to suggest some games that might interest you, and this time, they're from the 7th gen of console (xbox 360) : -Kane & Lynch : dead men (2007) -Kane & Lynch 2 : dog days (2010) These 2 underated tps (cover-shooter) were made by IO interactive (the creators of the "hitman" games). These are pretty dark crime games especially the second one which content a scene (I obviously won't reveal here) which is one of the most disturbing scene I've ever scene in a video-game. Remember when you reviewed Hitman contracts and you said it was the darkest hitman game with messed-up events ? Well, it's up there. Back then, when developers used to dare to do some things they probably won't do anymore these modern days. The only problem with the first Kane & Lynch is you can only play as Kane (the first main character) but there are unique events you'll experience as Lynch you'll miss if you play solo but you play those missions when you're seperate if you play with another player : With a split-screen or online. So I'll say try to find somebody who will be interested to play this game along with you. The game was planned as a coop game so it's more fun like this ;) Sometimes you will have to give orders to some soldiers/allies and it's the same system than "Freedom fighters" (another underated gem from IO interactive that I highly recommend ^^) : Where you can order to hide, defense, attack some enemies, destroy vehicules, etc ... I also wanted to talk about the 3 terminator games released for the classic xbox : -Terminator dawn of fate (2002) : Which is kind a devil may cry clone where you play as Kyle Reese. If you're familiar with the terminator universe, this game is actually a prequel of the 1st movie where during all the game, you fight against the machines until the end where you reach the "time-travel machine" to go back in 1984 where the 1st movie starts. You play with Kyle's lieutenant as well, Justin Perry which is kind of a neat reference/easter egg because he was just a name mentioned by Kyle when he was arrested in the police station and they created a character out of it (only with one line about him). But because of copyrights issues, none of the actors returns, which confused me a lot when I used to play this as a kid (this is my very first ps2 game btw) because Kyle Reese doesn't look or sound like him at all and he seems to have a different personality than the movie. And of course the T-800 is not Arnold but a guy with a mustache XD -Terminator 3 rise of the machines (2003) : a fps tie-in game of the film -Terminator 3 : the redemption (2004) : another take of the same movie but this time it's a tps and vehicule-based game and a way better game. Unfortunetly, this game is very hard and a lot of gamers gave up and used cheats. By the way, you have a button to make Arnold talks and do one-liners whenever you want it, it's the only purpose of that button and just for that, this game is gold ;) Some will tell that "Terminator 3 the redemption" is the best out of the 3 but I must say that I found "Terminator dawn of fate" more enjoying. -Die hard vendetta (2003): a fps when you play as John Mcclain and was a sequel to die hard with a vengeance before die hard 4 was a thing
All games I've been meaning to try! The Terminator movies are a lot of fun but I only have ever played the salvation game and the Kane and Lynch games interest me and I actually have the first one sitting out to play at this moment. Thanks as always for the recommendations.
With the 360 store closing soon, we may just end up losing many of these Summer Arcade games. Backups exist online, but it's unfortunate that methods without modded consoles or emulation will cease to exist 😢
Yes, I am enjoy this video and everybody that love arcade Xbox live need this kind of video to find more games and conservation of more games, I hope she see you soon more about summer Arkade

You are absolutely right with how on the game they were at this point. It was one of the best eras in gaming in my opinion.
Hope this becomes a series!
Damn, I remember clearly when this was on. This started the indie revolution. Thanks for sharing!!

Xbox 360 was literally perfect
Games, avatar, UI, xbox live, everything
Xbox really dominated this era of the early console digital storefront. Seriously, what a time!
I love Castle Crashers!
Awesome video as always! Would love to see one of these for every year of Summer of Arcade. My favorites that came from it were Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Monday Night Combat and Nexuiz.
Oh yeah I especially have great memories with Hydro Thunder. Definitely plan on checking out the rest of the Summer of Arcades on the channel!
This was peak time for the Xbox brand.

Xbox live arcade was cool
