    I own a 2020 Club 6MT. it’s incredible even in stock form. Get some thicker tires, bigger brakes, a header and exhaust, and your hood to go. It’s amazing. And still get almost 38mpg highway !

    • @opmike343
      @opmike343 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Car needs sways a lot more than it need brakes. Put on some performance pads and tires, and you'll show weaknesses in the suspension long before the brakes hit their limits.

    • @codyedsall9459
      @codyedsall9459 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And sway bars and track oriented lowering springs or coil overs. Track alignment probably being the most important part of all

    • @ohplezz
      @ohplezz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In stock form that car rocks and rolls all over the place. It's like driving a lazy boy recliner around the track.

    • @jjchockey
      @jjchockey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Get a beefy front sway bar and stiffer springs or better yet coilovers. Stock club brembro brakes are perfectly fine for even 250HP supercharged ones if you have upgraded pads. Stock ND's are wayyyy too soft for track work. The suspension is the weak point.

    • @Storm88000
      @Storm88000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ohplezz That is true. It does. I forgot to add in the original reply, *SWAY BARS* - I have a set of Flyin Miata front and rear adjustable sways (3 way) and they knocked off about 45-50 percent of the body roll, still on the OEM Bilstein suspension.

  • @driver46
    @driver46 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Great video , really like all the details about car. But I would have to suggest that NC is better track option because it cost 1/2 of ND . Any car you track on weekly basis will be in pretty bad shape in a year , so starting with half of the cost for same performance might be better option.

    • @AndyHollis33
      @AndyHollis33 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I do not personally like the handling of the NC. It's also not as fast as an ND2. The latter makes more power and is lighter.

    • @Tijke
      @Tijke 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 60,000 starting point isnt as good as a 0-20,000 mile starting point tho. Taking on a heavily abusedNC is arguably more work and unknown risk in comparison. That's a specific condition, but it would seem a lot of miatas are driven as they should be. Finding a very clean 9 year old car is hard.

    • @driver46
      @driver46 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree that ND is little bit lighter but in case of track use NC easily gets to same weight , handling of NC is very good and proven to be better than NA and NB I still didn't come across somebody in ND who could keep up but I think that was more to a driver than car .
      My whole point is in affordability since everything from engines , transmission, bearings will be replaced in first few years of tracking. All of those are much cheaper for NC and with starting price on top of it , looks like ND is too much money for same performance as NC .

    Great video! I'm in the process of prepping an ND2 for S5 and am going this same basic route. One question - with the Flyin' Miata springs, did you use the bump stops they recommend (stock front, shorter rear) or did you use some of the shorter/harder options similar to what a lot of people use in CS?

    • @AndyHollis33
      @AndyHollis33 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I used the one FM supplied (shorter rears). The CS parts are band-aids for lack of proper springs/bars.

    What tire size are you using on the 9in wide wheels? The wider wheels are never covered in the online articles.

    • @uscfroadie
      @uscfroadie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Casey Quillen. From the article linked - 949 Racing was the first firm to develop lightweight, track-oriented wheels for this application, offering its 6UL model in a 17x9-inch ET45 size at a weight of just 15.4 pounds. When wrapped in 245/40R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires, the combination offers maximum grip while just barely grazing the plastic fender liners occasionally. Key to this setup is dialing in about 5 degrees of caster in front, which centers the wheel in the wheel well.

      Same, I've been trying to find a car that's as close to a Miata with 4 doors or 5 seats that's still cheap to run and reliable but the closest thing I could see was a BMW 1 series F20/21 but apparently they cost a lot to maintain and are unreliable. Also I'm not a fan of the idea of having a turbocharged engine just cause of long term reliability and mpg.
